  1. Hello all, my .02..... Your a Canadian jumper aren't you???? CSPA BSR's for students say that an alti must be worn when the delay exceeds 10 seconds.......Since a S/L or IAD from a Cessna opens instantly....(or so we hope.....lol) no alti is required. I must say however that when I did some S/L's i never wore an alti. It didn't effect me at all. As a student I was just taught to inspect my opening canopy and if there was a problem deal with it immediately.....I didn't need to know how high I was, infact, that could in some circumstances possibly cause I student to freeze.IMHO Also, reagarding the squares.....CSPA does not allow students to jump round mains.

Here's a few of my favourites, (probably because they are on my AFF video's) Walking on the Sun, Smashmouth New Sensation, INXS Song 2 Blur Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes Most songs by U2 are great also However.....there are soooo many. oh, and at my drop zone, we've outlawed freefalling by Tom Petty because it is soooo overused.

  4. Wow, you said it!! I love jumping around clouds. One of the best jump's I've ever had was a sunset load with some light cloud cover moving in. I didn't go straight thru, but I got a really cool rush effect from the clouds and looking across the horizon as it disapears for 3 or four secs was way cool.
  5. Thanks alot Bill, I've always guessed that I was at around 1800 to 2000 feet when I deployed but I've never been sure. I can tell you that it scared the living sh@% out of me though. I think I agree with you about the speed part too. I've done hop and pop's at a slightly lower altitude than recomended and never experienced it. On this particular jump I had exited at 14,000 so I was well into full freefall. Dayle
  6. re: excuse a complete newbie question, but, what are the dangers of groundrush? Well, Sky, in case nobody has ever told you no question is unimportant in this sport especially if it can save your life. There is no danger of groundrush, it's what groundrush signifies. It means you are awfully low in most cases. (some people have experienced it fairly high up from what I've read in previous posts) the big danger from groundrush is..... SPLAT!!!
  7. Hello all, Is there an altitude that you start to experience Ground Rush at or can it happen at any time. The reason I ask is that on one occasion I did experience Ground Rush (you don't need to know the details, suffice to say I f#@$ed up) just after I became self-supervised and have been forever trying to figure out how low I actually was. If anyone knows when Ground Rush starts i'd really like to hear some anwsers.
