  1. I started jumping at 53. That was 14 years ago and I now have over 3000 skydives. You are as old as you feel and act. My life has been so much better due to the great group of friends I have made. You are only as good as you think you are.
  2. I also started late at 53 years old. That was 13 years ago and I currently have 3000 skydives including many state, national and world record skydives. i also do video for 4 and 8 way teams. I have been to the Nationals for the last 7 years and have a silver medal in 8 way and a bronze in 4 way. I am on the big way circuit and have done 41 jumps of 100 or more in them. I will be in Deland next month doing the pop's 130 way record attempt. Age is just a number. I am 66 but feel 35 because I am so active in Racquetball, skiing, scuba diving and skydiving year round. Live the dream and start those jumps ASAP. You are only as good as you think you are.
  3. I am still crying about it. Hope to see you soon superstar!!!! You are only as good as you think you are.
  4. John Kalland is really old and really heavy for someone his age. We love him anyway and he gives great advice. L.T. You are only as good as you think you are.
  5. I started skydiving at 53 years young. I am now 66 and have 3000 skydives, and numerous state, national and world records in my log book. I have also done video for 4 and 8 way teams at the last 6 National Competitions. Age is just a number. Go for it. L.T. You are only as good as you think you are.
  6. Spectre 150 for all big ways and video jumps with 4 and 8 way teams. Loaded at 1.44. You are only as good as you think you are.
  7. 2775 jumps 2 cutaways 1 spinning main, 1 opening so hard it ripped 3 lines off the canopy. You are only as good as you think you are.
  8. At our dropzone we anly ask jump numbers to get an idea where to put you on our next dive. We jump with anyone who wants to do RW. When you are in NEW JERSEY next, stop in at X-Keys and share some jumps with Steve Love and L.T You are only as good as you think you are.

  10. Just a little older. I started at 53 and have almost 3000 skydives. You are at a great age to start your jumping career. You are only as good as you think you are.
  11. I am also better looking than Kallend111111 You are only as good as you think you are.
  12. You are not too old to start skydiving. I started at 53 years old and that was 12 years ago. I am now 65 with many state, national and world record skydives to my credit. Even at 65, I have been the video guy for 4 and 8 ways teams that compete on the National level. If you want to get good at the sport, you must stay current. Skydiving becomes a lifestyle. Good health is very important as is flexability. Go for it and take each level in stride. If you want it bad enough, it will happen. You are only as good as you think you are.
  13. I do video for a 4 way team with a tight fitting set of sunglasses and my contact lenses. I have no problem. You are only as good as you think you are.

  20. Your age is fine. I started at 53 years old and now have 2400 skydives and am 64 years old. I have made skydiving a major focus of my life and I still love every jump. Take it one level at a time and before you know it, you will have graduated and will be a regular jumper. You are only as good as you think you are.
  21. I just found out about Ahmed a few days ago. My heart is very sad for a great guy and super skydiver. I jumped with Ahmed for a few years at the Christmas boogie at z-Hills. We would always race each other down to the formation to see who coulde get to his slot first. When he would beat me, he always had that great smild behind his face shield while thinking what took me so long. I wish skydiving had mulligans like golf. I can't believe how many friends I have lost to skydiving in the last 11 years since I started. I will hold the memories of Ahmed dear to my heart. I am sure you are organizing in heaven while waiting for all of us to join you...... L.T. You are only as good as you think you are.

  23. When turning on to final, you can use toggle, front riser or rear riser. What does each method do to the canopy and is any one of the methods better than another one? You are only as good as you think you are.
  24. I did my first tandem when I was 53. That was 11 years and 2300 skydives ago. My current brother in law hounded me to try a tandem and I only did it to get him off my back. I have done video for 4 way teams at the last 4 Nationals, been on the current POP'S 113 way world record, and the just completed SOS world record of a 43 way. I am a retired high school math teacher and enjoy traveling around the country jumping on record attempts I missed all of the round canopy hard landings. I wish I could have started earlier in life, but I would not have been able to afford it at that time. You are only as good as you think you are.
  25. There is ALWAYS a demand for a (good) camera flyer. It takes a large investment in the camera, special helmet with ring sight and visual light so you can tell when the camera is off or on. It also takes a lot of practice to get the exact timing of the exits for a tandem or a team. A team invests a lot of time and money to train to enter competitions and if the camera guy screws it up there are many very unhaqppy skydivers. Be prepared to do many camera jumps for practice with various size groups so you can figure out all the skills necessary to do it well. It is also more dangerous than a regular skydive. On the plus side, It is a great challenge to fly your body in a great position to get that great video and the satisfaction of doing a good job for the tandem or your friends on a team. Go for it.
