For Those Who Knew Someone In/Around the Twin Towers on 9/11...

For you, I'll even throw in a pony-tail swing and limpy wrists. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

I have much practice running in heels. I'm glad your friend is OK. The whole "stay at your desks" thing has been brought up a lot in different scenarios since. I forget where I read it, but there was a bomb threat in a building where, in fact, there actually was a bomb they later found (not one that could have done major damage, but bomb nonetheless). Some people left. Some did not... But, from 9/11 forward I've decided to go w/ my gut and not what "my boss", should I have one, says. And most people don't even like their boss---so it's even crazier to think they'd trust him/her with their life. But, of course, I see both sides...blah, blah, blah. But threats have taken on a whole new meaning since 9/11 that's for sure. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I think I was busy being born when Reagan was shot. OK, maybe I was a few months old. I barely remember the Challenger incident. I was in Kindgergarten and I remember they had a memorial display in my elementary school w/ a big photo of everyone on board. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

CSpence started the thread on "Where were you?" and I was curious how many people knew someone who died, or just who was there that you were worried about. Thought it would be nice to have a thread to share your memories. And that concludes my sappy moment of the day. I didn't have anyone close to me in or around the Twin Towers that day... My aunt works in the Pentagon, though. Word was out right away to our family that she was fine. -
I was in college, at my morning job. Like everyone else, thinking "how tragic" when the first plane hit, and then getting a creepy, strange all-over sensation when the second plane hit. I think it was like that for most people--going from a sad freak accident train of thought to one of "Holy cow. We're being attacked." It's not that I believed it could "never happen to us" but it never had in my lifetime. So it was certainly a shock to me that we were being attacked on our own soil. I was home just after the second plane hit only to find out our cable was out. Billy was home moments later and we listened to the radio for a while, then were glued to the TV once the cable came back on. We were cleaning out a shed the next day for a neighbor who had moved (we were friends w/ the landowner) and found an old, dusty American Flag on a pole (the kind you hand from your house). So, like everyone else, we decided to hang it from our porch.
-
Yea, but aren't people who respond "Everything" when you ask what kind of music they like annoying?
-
Well, I don't have one. But I know people who do. A stripper pole would look a little silly in my mostly white, pure, relaxing, beachy bedroom motif. It might be well-suited for our skydiving/sports/music/fun room though.

The type of thing you'd cut out & put on the refrigerator

That was one of the ones I didn't get either. I see NO point in holding on to those things---unless maybe they're from your current s/o. I save all Billy's cards he's given me as he always writes something special. But, to hold on to old poems and verses and drawings from before? I don't need to read those/see those to feel special. And I don't see any other reason for holding on to them unless you need that from them. Then again I'm biased---I'm definitely NOT materialistically sentimental. I've never understood why people hold on to some things just b/c so-and-so passed away and once gave them a pair of binoculars that are now broken--they keep the binoculars and so-and-so never used them anyways. I don't hold on to anything--not even pictures. I'm very unattached to material things. Except my pillow. I have to bring it w/ me when we travel b/c I just can't sleep comfortably on other people's/places pillows. So, I guess I'm attached to that. Of course...I know where to buy another one.... And that's my rambling story. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I'd LOVE to really be able to belt a note. Sadly I can not. I have a nice choir voice. Unfortunately for everyone else that is NOT the voice I use when I sing to every commercial that comes on in the background. I will give myself this---I sing Gin Blossoms' "Hey Jealousy" a'ight. I have kind of a lower, scratchy voice and not much range and I love that song so it suits me well. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I view it as more of a "Well, duh!" speech; not really a sign of perfection---which by the way I am FAR from and have learned to accept that about myself. -
National champion classical piano. Never had lessons on the following, but can hold a tune: Drums Clarinet Guitar Bongos Recorder. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I get a check to almost all. Yey for me. I MUST second wearing suncreen, singing and dancing like a goof ball. -
Welcome to our humble abode!

Me, too. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I liked it b/c it's so my sense of humor (and I like OK Go). If I am anything, I am a gigantic goof ball first. It's the only child syndrome. I've always done silly things to get laughs and it's just habit/natural now... The treadmill antics are right up my alley. The bloopers would be great!

Shpanks.

Billy's a bad ass. I can do him. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

You're crazy. I like you. But, you're crazy. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Yup, that's why I looked 'em up. That's as far as I got on my DVR recording before I couldn't take anymore. I just wanted to see Jack Black (Love him!), Justin Timberlake's SexyBack and Shakira; who were all w/in the first 30 minutes and then these guys, who I also thought were a hoot! And then.....delete! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

My furvrit is the guy in the pink shirt & glasses. He's cute! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Long story, but Billy has a cousin who wasn't exposed to much of anything until recently when he moved in w/ another Aunt/Uncle. But even they're REALLY clean cut and the boy LOVES hanging out with the cousins b/c he thinks we're all nuts in a good, funny way. So I was happy I was FINALLY able to share a funny video clip with him that he'll appreciate and also will be different than what he's used to seeing.
