  1. If you got that message the likelihood that you posted an ad without select a mandatory field is strong. My assumption is that the country field was left without being changed, which would spit back that error. Going to work at getting it to just not be able to submit instead, which should prevent the sight of an error message when nothing is entered.
  2. I've changed the way that the new ads are displayed, they are now displayed in a list environment the same as the category pages, making it easier to navigate. I've also addressed the other problems and the classifieds should be working properly now... If you see anything that still needs fixing, give me a shout.
  3. That was just me trying to test some stuff... I will look into it a bit more when I'm back at the office tomorrow, for now I've just gone ahead and fixed the fact that the price was missing on the preview of the new ads listings.
  4. Since #2 was the most important of the issue it took priority and should now be working. Ads that were submitted in the past 24 or so hours by premium members will not show up as such until I manually go through them and switch them to the correct link, if in 12 hours you still don't see any of your paid links displayed as they should... Send me a PM with the URL (anyone who is affected) and I'll switch them for you so long.
  5. This error should now be fixed.
  6. what he means is that there's a preview of the detailed description, but when you click on the actual ad, the contents of the description are blank. This was a problem where ads without images weren't displaying properly, this issue should now be fixed.
  7. This problem as far as I know currently only exists on the 'featured links' listing on the main classifieds page, which is something we are busy working on. But in the main category listings, items with prices should be shown, and appear to be.
  8. With regards to the second one, I've tried changing the way it grabs the links, if you can see and let me know if you are still not seeing ads that should be shown, I can see if it's helped at all.
  9. The same should currently exist. The main listings were not really changed much at all, and still exist on a line to line listing environment. If you can attach a screenshot and help me understand what you mean about having to wade through pictures and descriptions to find what you want? Images and descriptions should only be visible on the detailed level, where one would expect all the information possible to be. Otherwise the only other areas where we aim to provide the image and description in a listing environment is on the classifieds home page, where paid links and premium members get their ads listed more prominently in this fashion.
  10. Thanks for the input guys... I will be tackling these issues and trying to get them as many as possible resolved today. Some are easy fixes, others will require a bit more work, but we will get the ads up to proper standards again soon.
  11. We're working hard at getting all these bugs sorted out as soon as possible, I've managed to fix the search feature, so that should now work. While we are working at fixing the main error when clicking on a link and getting an error... In the mean time, if you experience this problem, refreshing the page with the error should take you to the ad.
  12. Rest assured the new template is better, more user friendly and more up to date with current web standards. The previous template, especially in the classifieds section was far out of date with large font and tables that extended across the page, a layout style which was far more primitive than the current one. What detail is it that you feel is missing from the new template that was on the old? As all the information on the detailed ad pages should be pretty much the same. The new layout also gives us the opportunity to provide users with more flexibility when it comes to promoting their ads and we don't doubt that it should in essence making selling even easier. The main challenge at the moment is just working out the bugs, but that should not take long.
  13. Hi, Thanks, we have just turned over to the new templates on the classifieds and will be spending the next couple of days ironing out the bugs... This being one of them. If you guys come across any other bugs with the new template please post em here.
  14. It is a problem, though one that is difficult to avoid. There are already barriers up in terms of listing items and replying to ads, where users have to be registered for X amount of days, unfortunately all this does is have the scammers return a few weeks later to complete the process. This does weed out some, but a lot will return. There is not much else we can do without making it a paid only listing service, which we don't want to do. The problem comes in where because dropzone.com is the leading used skydiving classifieds online, people will register an account solely to list an item, many of these are not scammers. When using the correct procedures for buying and selling, it's easy to avoid getting scammed though. Working the deal through a rigger or dropzone is a popular method for a transaction, alternatively just asking them for details about their license and following up with the information they give you. Naturally there are established users which can be more trust-worthy, but for new users perhaps with their profiles empty, it is worth just using caution and a few extra efforts if one feels the seller may be a scammer.
  15. Thanks for posting, I have forwarded this along to try make sure that the ad server that it's picking up as Malware is corrected/removed.
  16. Thanks for the heads up, the reason behind the error is that we recently changed our URL structures and with the change, it ended up causing 'special characters' to break the link if they were included in the article title, we went through a process of removing the special characters from the titles, but we evidently missed one. I've gone ahead and changed it, so that the link should now be correct.
  17. My main problem is that all the nice game reserves are either very far north, or very expensive. But I do spend a great deal of time enjoying the local nature surroundings and go to a variety of smaller nature reserves and national parks in the Western Cape.
  18. Thanks for the heads up. I will forward this on and hopefully we can get it sorted.
  19. Good man, spending the majority of the time where South Africa is at its best. The weather here has been alright, though it could have been better. I imagine Phinda was quite amazing though, I still need to head up that way to do more birding. I am a useless South African, having lived here my entire life and never actually been to a game reserve...
  20. The following scam has been reported: Click here to read more about these kind of scams. Remember: DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer". Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.This username has been disabled.
  21. The following user has been reported by several users as a scammer. The user put up an ad over the past few days which was copied from another website. Attached is an image screenshot of the ad in question prior to its removal. PLEASE NOTE: The ads are often generic and copied and pasted from other legitimate ads, but the price will be too good to be true, and like they say - when it seems to be, it probably is. Do not do business with the following username: Username: zukunise Ad: Sidewinder,Sabre 210,PD 176R,Cypres 2 Sidewinder DOM 6/06 with 80 jumps, mini 3ring, BOC, excellent shape. Sabre 210 DOM 10/05 with 80 jumps Colours: Blk, Royal, Fl. Blue, N.Green, N.Yellow, N.Green, Fl. Blue, Royal, Blk. Collapsible main pilot chute, double kill lines on slider. PD 176R DOM 10/05 with 0 jumps Cypres 2, DOM 06/2010 Comes with all manuals and gearbag. I'm selling all my skydiving equipment to pursue other interests. This user is using a scam that is increasing in popularity on sales websites throughout the internet, where they will copy and paste a legitimate advert from another website so that the wording sounds as though it is really a skydiver, making it very difficult to decipher whether the user is legitimate or not. We highly recommend attempting to ask questions that are difficult for scammers to answer relating to their item, that they could not know from copy and pasting. If there is any doubt as to whether the seller is legitimate or not, we also recommend considering asking them to work the sale through their dropzone. We ask you to remain vigilant when it comes to online purchases. The user has been removed from the site.

  23. I don't know hey, the GoPro in regular lighting conditions is typically warmer - this is especially visible in the aircraft comparison. I think the main selling point for the Sony for skydivers is how well the image stabilization works. On the 'Overall Quality' video I felt the Sony AS15 killed it, the image quality was as good, if not better than the GoPro Hero 2, while having much better more stable of an image.
  24. Unfortunately the review was done a mere couple weeks before GoPro came out with the HD Hero 3, but keep an eye out for future reviews, as we do plan on putting the GoPro HD Hero 3 to the test sooner rather than later.
