  1. 0:3: It was fun to finally get some weather so we could jump here at home. It was a bit too chilly for more than hop n'pops since it was only in the upper 30's. I owe beer for finally getting brave enough to land in our experienced jumper area. It's surrounded by barbed wire to keep the cows out so I hadn't been in any hurry. I did fine, but it was a bit muddy. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  2. It took to the bottom of the 4th page to find one that was actually connected to me "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  3. My first this year was from an Otter, but my last for 2008 was from a DC3. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  4. I'll be heading for your area on my spring break in March. My brother wasn't any happier with me for not making it that you were. lol I will be there the lasat week of March. I don't think I can get to 400 by Prairie but I'll give it a try.
  5. That would be great. my address is on it's way. Thanks. See you guys in May if not before somewhere along the line. From the sounds of things, it may take that long to get out from under the snow up your way. lol "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  6. No swooping for me, but I am probably going to do a coach coarse in a few months.
  7. Of my 212 jumps, 203 of them have been since the first of May. November through April last year was a little slow. THis year at least I can get away from this icky weather. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  8. Let's see. 15 jumps including a hot air balloon jump for my 200th, a jump from the DC3 and one from the Beech 18 (can you say cozy?), a high altitude jump (20,000 ft) and the sunset cross country canopy flock. I do have to make another trip there for sure since I didn't get a chance to jump the Porter. Oh, and I did my water training so I can get my B license. Oh, it may have been the desert, but the heater in the pool was broken and, well, it took me hours to thaw out. That water was frigid. The way they do it there, I had to jump in twice. The second time was definitely worse cause I knew what was coming. I did pay my respects to the beer wagon regularly. I met lots of people and did some great jumps. I only landed in the desert a couple of times. All in all, it was a great place to do my 200th jump and both wrap up 2008 and start 2009. What a year it has been! i got to figuring it up nad I've jumped at 12 dropzones in 10 states during that time. I don't think I can repeat that this year. I want to go back to everyplace I went this year. Thanks everyoone for all the encouragement I've gotten here on dz.com and at the dropzones. About the only regret I have is that I couldn't go to more places. Work keeps getting in the way. I am going to try to get to some new places this year. Skydive Mesquite in Nevada is next. Wny other suggestions? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  9. Leap for Lupus is an annual event (generally the first weekend in August, I think) at Kapowsin, WA. That's near Seattle, so the flight there from Phoenix would probably be reasonable. I have had a great time jumping at Kapowsin. There are some fantastic people there and some of the best love to help newbies along. (vskydiver and JohnMitcheel to name some names). It would be great to see you there. There will be a thread in the events forum when the date gets close enough. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  10. You'll probably hear this from others, but try to jump more than the minimum to stay current. Minimal currency just isn't really safe. it's tough to do sometimes. Here in Idaho, I've got to deal wiith winter weather (brrrrrrrr) and I'm trying to do that by getting to warmer dryer places as often as I can. Eloy next week and probably Mesquite in mid-January. I don't know where I'm headed in February, but with a little luck spring will be edging it's way in by then. If Eloy turns out to be as great as I'm hoping, I'll be back and maybe we can do some jumping then. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  11. Here's the SIM section I think the OP is referring to. aerial performance requirements, either: (1) demonstrated the ability to perform individual maneuvers (left 360, right 360, backloop, left 360, right 360, backloop) in freefall in 18 seconds or less (2) or successful completion of the planned formation(s) on ten group freefall jumps Granted, it doesn't specifically say 2 ways, it is in the requirements for a B license unless he did the alternative demonstration.
  12. Hi, I'm headed to Eloy in a couple of days. Since I don't have a lot of jumps yet, I'm always looking for people to do 2 ways with so I can work on basic skills. I'll be there until the 4th and I'd be glad to jump with you if you don't mind jumping with an old lady. Just let me know. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! 13. Oh, Shermie. You are sooooo in trouble. Now you've got Holly and LIsa after ya. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  14. Oh, Sherie,......... You are so in trouble. lol Lisa is so going to get even. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  15. It seems we're in the minority around here. I play Christmas music from Thanksgiving until Chirstmas. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  16. I like CASAs and Skyvans, but the most fun had to be my helicopter jump at Elsinnore during Chicks Rock. I'm hoping for a balloon jump next week at Eloy. I'll let ya' know how that goes. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  17. Wish I was there too, but I'm gonna have to settle for Eloy in a few days. It seems like most of the dz.commers I know have headed to Florida for the holidays. Have fun. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  18. And I thought the 6 inches in my yard was bad. Good luck!!! "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  19. October 7, 2007 ----- Star, ID from a Caravan. I did a tandem as an extra credit field trip for a physics class I was taking. I had never considered skydiiving before that time. Within a few hours of landing, I was calling back to find out how to learn to skydive. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  20. Nope, no bonus for me. Being a teacher, we do't get bonus. The 3 weeks off I get is pretty nice though.
  21. Have a great day, Mike! Well, maybe not too great since a certain someone isn't there to help you celebrate. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  22. You could be describing my first jump. It sure wasn't pretty. I definitely learned that you have to flare BEFORE you hit the ground. As others said, don't beat yourself up. I bet next time you remember to flare. lol You are still here, banged up a bit, but basically ok. I have 197 jumps now, so you can tell, it didn't discourage me. Talk to your instructors and then make that next jump. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  23. Hmmmmm. 1533/197 so about 7.8, and probably on the way up. I'd jump more, but it's too damn cold here right now. I looked at the winds aloft forecast today and it was about 20 below at altitude. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
