I'm from the South. "He needed killin' " is a legitimate defense. I tend to prefer a dead intruder. Hard for him to sue me. Nobody to contradict my story to the police. He can't invade anyone else's home.... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Flew to London Heathrow Thursday. Express to Paddington Station and then the train to Swindon. Walked across the street to a pub called Queen's Tap and asked about a room. The manager of the hotel next door was there, called over and told them I was coming and told me to come back for a pint. Spent the evening at the pub and the night at the hotel. Picked up the bike the next morning after a 'Full English' breakfast and headed out. Ended up in Dover after riding through the snow (left side of the rode is freaky scary). A fellow biker I knew only from the internet put me up overnight. He and his wife were delightful company. Took the ferry this morning to Callaise and rode the rest of the way home. Nice adventure. I hope to thaw out by spring. The bike is wonderful. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Maid 1.0 would have been cheaper. Let's face it, wife 1.0 is the most expensive and least effective way to get anything you really want. There are plenty of other apps that work much better. Most can be found as freeware or rented. Buying doesn't really make much sense financially. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Ya There is always those That is why a big portion of my weapons carry course was spent on talking to LE in case some ass hat forces you to use force A couple of points they made 1 DO NOT use reloads in your self protection weapon DA's have used that the same way you indicate 2 Never say anything about killing or anything like that. You tell them you kept firing until there no longer was a threat Sad one has to do this but that is what we live in today I will once again recommend: if you have been forced to defend yourself or another with deadly force, the police are not necessarily your friends. You have just been through a very traumatic experience. You are not ready to make any statements. Your statements will be much more coherent and helpful AFTER you speak with your attorney. If you have been placed in this situation: 1. Render first aid as appropriate 2. Call 911 and tell them someone has been seriously injured and the address. That's all they need. 3. Render the weapon safe, place it in the open away from you, and make it clear you are not a threat to responding officers. 4. Call your attorney. 5. STFU If anyone can improve on this list, please do. Remember the phrase, 'anything you say (and do, and gesture, and body language) can and WILL be used against you...'. So, say and do as little as you can. Get behind closed doors with your attorney even if you have absolutely nothing to hide. The police are not on your side. The DA is not on your side. There is family out there that will want to sue you. There are groups out there that might want to use this event for their own purposes. The media is not on your side. Don't make it worse. Everyone likes Dirty Harry in the movies, but he can only exist in the movies. In real life, he would be crucified. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

He fired through a door at an unseen attacker and hit her with three or four rounds. It's an uphill battle for the defense after that. At least with me. I have no idea how the court case will lay out. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. God created men (and women). Sam Colt made them equal. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Funny. However, that isn't the only argument. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Better yet, to be able to make the decision, for yourself, whether or not to have a weapon available, in order to protect yourself and your loved ones. Careful. That sounds suspiciously like you support the individual right to choose. Many around here think their right to choose for you is far superior to your rights. Interesting dichotomy here. I am seeing computer simulations, models and all kinds of evidence already jumping up on TV. I am wondering how that will influence things. It looks like the prosecution is almost set, but you say the prosecution is habitually poor. I wonder how the international influence will play out. There's little doubt in my mind that he intended to kill her if the facts are what they are being portrayed as. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Um... you may want to get laid. I'm going to spend hours in the saddle this weekend with my new girl. I'll be fine. Thanks for your concern. Oddly, you aren't the first to give me that feedback lately. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Should background checks include identifying the mentally ill
davjohns replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
I would think it's pretty easy in the case of these killers since it's not simply disregard for human life (manslaughter), but the plotting and intentional mass murder (1st degree). These aren't simply bad errors in judgement; these are willful acts of brains that aren't working correctly. A mental illness. As food for thought, I'll give you a famous riddle: A woman is at her mother's funeral when she meets a man she has never seen before. She falls instantly and hopelessly in love. Afterwards, she can not find him. She searches everywhere for weeks without luck. Then, she kills her sister. Why? Most people can not work this out. They have a moral inhibitor that prevents the pure logic that this riddle requires. The answer is that the man is likely to attend the funeral of another family member. Whatever his association was with the mother will likely lead to his attending the funeral of the sister. Most of us would never make this connection because murdering your sybling so you could meet someone is just too repulsive. But, it is purely logical once you remove the morals / emotions. Criminals and criminal investigators tend to answer this question pretty easily. For some reason, I've found that computer programmers do well also. So, someone who kills children to relieve bordeom (or whatever messed up reason they do it) will be placed in the category of mentally impaired. Who else? Where do we draw the line? How about suicide bombers? They think what they are doing is perfectly logical. Soldiers? We kill lots of people merely because we are told to. We are only allowed to question it in specific circumstances. What about drug cartels that kill people who threaten their profit margins? Assassins? It seems there is some difference between the classic definition of insanity and extreme criminal behavior. One lacks all reason as we know it. The other merely leaves out the moral inhibitions that guide most of us. Perhaps the point is moot in regards to firearms ownership, but I see a difference. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
Should background checks include identifying the mentally ill
davjohns replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
My point was that if a person subscribes to the concept that people such as Lanza or Dorner or whatever flavor of the week mass killer aren't "mentally ill" but instead "evil" then I think that's a sort of "magical thinking." Whatever is going on in the heads of people like the killers' isn't "evil"; it's a brain that isn't functioning correctly. It's not possessed by demons or thetans. It's not working right. Now, lawrocket and coco want to quibble over the legal definition of insane, but whatever you want to call it, the killers' brains are not working normally. Normal people do not go on shooting sprees. They just don't. Something has to be screwed up in their heads for them to believe that is the solution to whatever problem they might have. Well...I think you may be going into new territory there. If extreme evil is a mental condition, is extreme good a mental condition? I mean really; who gives up their life for someone they don't know? Why would anyone like Mother Teresa spend their life doing for others? Mental defect? I know that sounds sarcastic, but I don't mean for it to be. If these folks just decided they wanted to kill others for a lark, is that a mental defect? How about the ordinarily self-centered? Insider traders hurt others for personal benefit. The majority of criminal behavior is outside what society deems 'normal'. Should we view this as a mental disease? If so, how do we prosecute them? I see your point. Their behavior is show complete disregard for others. But is that necessarily a mental impairment? If so, where do we draw THAT line? Speeding? Mugging? Assault? Rape? Murder? Multiple murders? Where on the criminal behavior continuum does it indicate mental defect? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
They were just showing video of her at some awards or something. Still undecided which of them was batshit crazy, but when you look like she did, you get some leeway. Leaning toward 'him' being the crazy one. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I don't. And that's where you and I differ. So then, screening against "evil" or "body thetans" are probably also off your list; yes? So, pass the audit with the psychometer and you get a concealed carry license? Welcome back, Mr. Hubbard. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Pretty doggone effective one, though. Stops the current attack. Tends to dissuade the attacker from moving on to another victim. Marks the attacker for later identification by the police (streamlines the police lineup). Good advice, Quade. I'll pass it on. I rode whatever I could afford when I was younger. Now, I ride what I love. The cruisers are nice. But there's just something about going into a turn with the throttle rolled back, one cheek off the seat, knee to the ground, and adrenaline pumping. The cruisers just weren't made for that. Hahaha +1. If I am ever in the UK we will have to go riding. With some guns, fuck it. When I was stationed in Arizona, I never got tired of seeing guys driving their bikes down the road with a pistol on the hip or fathers playing with kids in the park with a .45 prominently displayed. If you want to see sexy...attractive woman on a sport bike with a pistol on her hip....sigh. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I'm confused. Why did they ride another bike? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

The problem with any organization is groupthink. Whether it is the Army, the IPCC or the USPA, groupthink is a big problem. You don’t find atheists in church groups and you don’t find climate skeptics in esteemed levels of climate groups. There’s the paradigm right now. Look at Judith Curry. Agreed. Selecting the sample group is always a huge problem. At least the statistic of 98% could be more accurate. Right now, it's '98% of all the articles we read'. I assure you 98% of all the stuff my father reads says the same thing. That doesn't make it a representative sample of anything but my father's readings. Along the lines of your 'groupthink' argument; I always liked a quote from George S. Patton - "If we're all thinking alike...we're not all thinking." I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I have been asked why my toys are always female. In this case, I wash her lovingly. I listen to her closely whenever she speaks. If I've had a bad day, I can slide her between my legs and ride her. She gets hot and screams with the experience. She focuses my senses and fills me with adrenaline. Afterwards, I have forgotten all of my troubles; I am all smiles; I make sure she is safe, clean, and content before I do anything else. I'm going to think of her as a guy? Sorry. No. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Bill, ANYONE can claim you told them you were suicidal and you can get locked up. Are you really suggesting that someone should have to go to court to prove they are competent to get their weapons back? Why would they be taken in the first place? If you are locked up on a 72hr hold, why would the police go to your residence and confiscate your property without a warrant? Do you have any idea what you are recommending? When you first started down this path, I thought you had just woken up and needed some coffee. It appears you really meant it. That's a bit frightening. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
In real life I would have a concealed weapons permit. Why don't you? Everyone I know does. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I'm not Wendy P. If you are any more considerate and pleasant in real life, I'm sure the Queen would have you for tea on a regular basis.
