Ya know, I wouldn't believe a word of that if I didn't have a similar story. Mine even involved a dancing banana. Sigh... just an innocent pawn in a seductive temptress’ game. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I was disguising the title as Vice President. No, you have to have some obscure title... sorry. I don't want people knowing you have a position in the government... might scare them off. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I would walk 500 miles And I would walk 500 more ... may that be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -

I thought that was Bob that mentioned that he had jumped before (when he was in his 20's) at "Greene County Sport Parachute Center, outside Xenia, OH" it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

So you visited another DZ WB? Yes, I'm doing damn well for an 84 year old. How would you like to get your ass kicked by an 84 year old? I'll let Jess get a few hits in, so then you will have gotten kicked by an old fart and a girl. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Bill, you're fired again. I'm voting for Bill V. to assist me with world domination. You can be the Minister of Entertainment or something... it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Bill, you're a genius, you're rehired for whatever it was you wanted to do for my country. You can have my job as gravity monitor at big ways. Just 'cos I'm a physicist I get the job every time! John - Hate to break this to you, but that's their way of saying "Stop bothering us" That's like parents telling the children to go to sleep or Santa won't come. "Uhh.. yeah... go keep an eye on gravity... no no no, it's a very important function, people could get hurt if the gravitational force unexpectedly changed!" You physicists are so gullible sometimes.... it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I'm going to try to give up meat....need advice

I'm not questioning that fruits and veggies are a more efficent use of land for producing food, I'm questioning that it's really 16-to-1... I think Bill's statistic is a little over-stated. Take an acre for feed-grain, take another for whatever mix of fruit/veggies/grains - I have a hard time believing you'll get 16 times the nutrition out of the fruit/veggies acre. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -

I've heard 4, 7, and 16 - I guess we'll just call it in the middle somewhere? Or say it depends on what kind of meat? And, honest question - are you saying 1 pound of grain has the same nutritional value as 1 pound of meat? it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -
I do cook... you've had food I cooked before. (ok, in that instance I'll use the term 'cooked' very lightly) But you're right, I'd rather people serve me. I wasn't planning on killling off everyone, just almost everyone. We have to leave RevJim's pretty-people-country too - someone has to do the sitcoms & movies that will entertain us. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Check with different airlines. Delta is more like 50% off 'unrestricted' fare. Still check expedia.com and orbitz, may be cheaper still - was for me a few months ago. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

I don't have a dog... I think it's wrong a cruel to take these animals that were meant to be free and tell them when/where they can shit, what they can eat, when they can go outside... just for your own personal amusement/compainion. They were meant to run free, not be couped up in a house all day. I don't have any house plants either. If I did, I'd be just as sad if my favorite fern died - assuming I played with my fern as much as I did the dog. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -
Can I get flood insurance on the castle? I'm not sure, I've never liked Texas that much, and I don't think I'd like living in the middle of a river. And there won't be any corporations left... so... bad planning on your part, you're fired. Not completely... we just need to thin out the world population. And I don't think I'd have enough time to rule over the entire planet... besides, that's just a little arrogant. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
-
And I'll bet he's living in a house made from wood, not clay. Oh the trees! Think of the trees you cruel bastard! it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
-
Sure. Although I'm planning on killing off most of the world's population (it's for their own good) - as long as you're ok with that. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

OMG - have you seen how they treat chickens on egg farms?! Most of the chickens hardly move their entire life, and they're starved for weeks at a time ni something called forced molting, they're debeaked.... ick. I didn't say they're trying to feed the world in the most efficent way, they're trying to give the world what they want to eat in the most efficent way. And depending on who you talk to, it takes between 4 and 16 pounds of grain for 1 pound of meat. You can have the 7 pounds of feed-grain, I'd much rather enjoy a juicy chicken breast. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -

Not 'wrong'. Necessary to be efficent/effective enough to meet depend. Again, we've populated the earth beyond its means. And you're also assuming animals have feelings and rights. If animals have feelings, then we shouldn't have them as pets - that's wrong. No, not until it got to the point that it was taking them off the planet completely. It's a resource that served a purpose, you're going to do damage collecting it - I don't see it as wrong at all until you do irrepairable damage. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -

"I never tried to tell other people to become vegetarians." "Instead of just saying, 'Yeah, it is wrong to eat meat, but I'm still giong to,'" Telling someone it's wrong to do something is basically the same thing as telling them not to do it. And it being 'wrong' is your opinion - which I don't agree with. There's nothing 'wrong' about it, and any argument or silly quote you can come up with can be used by either side. If you don't want to eat meat for your own reasons and beliefs, that's fine - but don't try to convince me that you're right, and eating meat is 'wrong' -- I'm not going to tell you you're 'wrong' for not eating meat. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality -

wildblue replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Soooo... which side of the argument is that for or against? It sounds like it's questioning why people would become vegetarians based soley on 'animal suffering' I'd rather be known as "Made use of the resources, knowledge, and tools he was given" ... I'll bet that counts more than "He was a pansie." And animals get sick all the time in the 'wild' and no one notices.. they fall down, they get caught in fires, they suffer horribly. No, we shouldn't mass produce babies, we already have enough of a population, and they'd serve no purpose. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
