If we're going by the typical definitions you end up hearing when this conversation comes around, a 'nice guy' is the one that cares, he listens, he consoles, he's the friend. In my experience, most of the 'assholes' don't really give a shit what people think.. .otherwise they might not be assholes. So, I don't really think much of their self-worth is based on other's opinions. Regardless, they don't always get the girl either, and they don't whine about it constantly. Either because they don't need the self-pity or because, as was stated earlier, their first thought is "What's wrong with her??" Have you ever heard someone say "That's it, I'm not being a jerk anymore... I never get the girl"? No. So you're saying that every asshole out there gets the girl he wants and keeps her forever? In either case, the whole "nice guys always finish last" is a huge pile of BS, don't get me started on that again, I'm just trying to fix the connotation of the phrase. I think this phrase has been distorted - I'm pretty sure the original intent was that nice guy finish last in bed (see, the fortune cookie thing works on dz.com as well) Somehow it's come to mean nice guys don't ever get the girl. Well, sometimes assholes don't get the girl either, they just don't whine about it as much! So, help me fix this - next time someone says "Nice guys finish last" you are to respond with "yeah, most women like that in a lover" I think together, we can right this wrong and bring this phrase back to its original glory. If I thought bringing it up again actually hurt her, then yes, I would apologize. I'm not that big of an asshole. However, I've known Sunny for longer than most people here and probably better.
