I think the best gift you can give someone is time - yours or theirs. Make something for them that takes some of your time (one of the neatest cards I ever got was a handmade Valentine's day card... and no, not when I was 7) or do/give them something that saves them time. You're already doing that by taking her dinner. See if you can help get anything off the floppies for her (got any computer geek friends? Nope - I could probably leave my keys in the car and be fine too, I'm just not that trusting of people. I work downtown in a city known for auto thefts - the only time I've ever had a problem with my car was when I parked it at my parent's house - they live in a small town about like you described where everyone knows everyone and you can leave your doors unlocked. Someone broke in and stole the radio. You know this to be certain? You'd be surprised how many sexual offenders you probably have in your area. very possible.... they're where the 'look2me' crap came in... jesus it's annoying as shit. I like how it edits your host file too, and it constantly watches for you to try to fix it then reinstalls everything. Take the entries out of the host file, and within 10 seconds they're back, kill a process and it starts back up, remove the registries entries and they reappear. It normally doesn't take me that long to clean out spyware anymore, but this one was tough. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
