No, there's more than one gas company. If one started selling gas for $5/gallon, it would go out of business because people would stop buying there. Now if all the gas companies agreed to do that, then that would be price fixing, which is illegal. People also seem to get their panties in a wad everytime gas prices creep up. Anything that 'goes too far' can be hurtful to someone, and they're always going to be out there. Hell, there's already a t-shirt out that says (looking like a newspaper headline on the front) "Tragedy ensues as 80s metal band Great White loses every single one of its 96 fans" - yes, that's incredibly wrong, but I giggled. Had I lost someone in that fire, I probably wouldn't have. Same thing with any tragedy. Remember the Challenger jokes? Did you laugh at any of those? I did. I'm sure if I knew someone that was on that craft I wouldn't have though. Even the jokes about other groups, someone in that group could very well be offended by what you think is just funny. All the jokes about priests and little boys that were going around for awhile - most were pretty funny, unles you're a priest or one of those boys. What about blond jokes? Ever told one of those? I'm sure there's some people with blond hair that don't find them funny at all - even to the point of being offended by them. So, if you've ever laughed at or told one of those jokes, I don't think you can get too pissed off when someone tells one that offends you. You can say "Yeah, that's not really funny" and explain why if you want, but I think that's about the extent of it. People need to lighten up a little.
