Hi all, I am currently on a TDY at Macdill AFB base in Tampa and I am wanting to jump at Z-hills while i am here. However, I don't have a car here and therefore no means to get to Z-Hills. Anyone up there who lives in the Tampa area who goes up to z-hills on the weekends? random question, I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would definetely recommend a Wings container (keep in mind, its only a recommendation and there are tons of nice containers out there). I am in the military as well and I can tell you that Wings gives the best discounts (50% base price). My buddy just ordered his brand new from Wings and he loves it. The only problem was that he had to wait 12 weeks to get it. Not bad, just something to think about. And as for storing the rig, follow the previous advice, keep it at your DZ.

I recently bought my rig on here and today was the first time I jumped it. It is a spectre 190 with a wing loading of 1.1. Anyways, on my first jump on it I had some pretty knarly end cell closure on the left side. I figured it might have been the pack job and/or the canopy so I asked my packer (yes, I use a packer, i haven't learned yet, its pathetic) to have a look. He didn't notice anything wrong and simply attributed it to a beefed packing job. Next jump did the same thing. Body position was as good and as normal as always. Opening seemed normal until the end cells should have inflated. The right one did but not the left. The canopy made a quick 180. This was when I actually realized the left end cell had never inflated. The spin was fast but not extreme by any means. I checked my breaks and both were still stowed so I released them and went to 3/4 brakes which inflated the cell and every thing was fine. Pulled at 4500 and was full flight and on heading at 3200 so no real problems just slightly concerned I have heard that the new sabre2's have had problems with this but haven't heard anything about the spectres. Do you all have any suggestions/ideas on what could be happening? thanks

Hey everyone, I recently graduated AFF and am well on my way getting my A license (hopefully get it in two weeks blue skies permitting) and I'm thinking about getting my own rig. I figured it'd be a good idea to post on here what I was thinking about getting and seeing what other, more experienced skydivers thought. I am military and because of that I can get 50% off wings containers. I am therefore planning on ordering a new wings container For the reserve I was thinking of either a used PD160 or PD176 (i'm 5'11 175). I've found some reserves at good prices but was wondering how far back an acceptable DOM for a reserve would be. Is a PD176 from '92 too old? As far as main canopies go I've pretty much decided i want a used Spectre or Sabre2 190 (again i'm 5'11 and weigh 175). I want a canopy with less than 400 jumps on it and one that has atleast 200 jumps on it before needing new lines. I plan on getting the wings container cut for a 170 but can fit a 190 (that way i can downsize in the future) For the AAD, pretty much the standard Cypres. Looking for one with about 4-8 years left on it. So, I guess the purpose of this post is to get opinions from other skydivers on the gear i am looking at and see if it will last me for a few years (until I can graduate the academy and start making decent money haha) thanks, blue skies!
