liberal shmiberal, I think that is a moot-point, the larger one here is that of religion. sure, I can sorta see where you're coming from, but what about the citizens of 'his' country that don't share his beliefs? Don't you think he should be more impartial, one way or another in order to better represent his citizens?

I forgot! A canoe, drifting about 200 yards off of a public beach in the summer time. Man, I know I'm young now, but 17 was a good time....

I am, listen to van morrison, trying to contour a groundwater drawing. The I press go, it grinds away, I come on here. 15 minutes later, I remember the contours, switch back, and do it all over again. OH! Look at that, it's lunch time.

Kick-ass quade! I was starting to get discouraged listening to people describe their toe jam and naval lint! It's a camping product, and as soon as we file the patents, I'll post a sketch. So, it's not a teleporter, a hovercar, etc. But it is cool, and I can't believe I was the first to come up with it. You know, from being a regular guy (sorta...) in three months, I'll have 2 patent pendings. That's so cool...:) The other one is a braking system for streetluge. Anyways, thanks a ton (or tonne) quade! You saved me alot of time!

Well, I had to come up with some name, and Ginger was already taken. I'm designing a new product, unrelated to skydiving, and was wondering if anyone out there knows how to calculate the force exerted on a surface, given it's area, presented at 90 degrees to the wind (head on). For example, a square sail, with an area of 2m sq, in wind moving at 15m/s. I just thought some of you might be up on this sorta stuff, so post if you know! P.S. Presume it's got zero porosity.

On my first H&P, I went into a roll as I went for the hackey, I knew this, and knew that I was already pretty low (being an H&P). I actually remember the words "Pull, Pull Stable, Pull at altitude" And I went through with it. I released it as I was reaching back-to-earth, and the pilot came up between my legs. I thank god that the pin held, because I've heard some BAD stories of upside-down deployments (ie. seperated pelvis, etc.) I reached around the back of my leg once, couldn't get my fingers under the bridle, reached twice, got a hold of it, and whipped it back out to the side. By this time I was at about 60 degrees headdown (for all my struggling) and it whipped me around quite violently before I found myself under a full canopy with a bunch of line twists. I sorted them out and the rest is history. I talked with my JM, and he suggested that I go straight to a 15 sec delay, so that I could have time this time to get a grasp of how the relative wind responds to body position. I did, deployed at altitude and stable as a rock. I'm so glad that he let me do that, otherwise I don't know how many 1-3 second incriment attempts it would've taken to get the same understanding. Made ALL the difference. I tell you, being a student at 8 jumps, around 3500' falling on your back staring at a PC flapping between your legs counting the seconds to compare how long you have vs. how long you've taken is an incredible thing. Oddly though, it didn't really scare me, it only made me focus incredibly.

When I was younger (not much), I thought it'd be a good idea to try jumping across a 75' parking lot. On skis. Off of a non-prepared snowbank. I hit it moving fast enough to make the gap, but since I hadn't checked out the snowbank at all, It threw me waaay up, instead of out. In the air at some point, I rotated 90degrees so that my right side was paralell with the parking lot. ****** Freeze Frame ***** It had snowed the night before about 45cm, a massive amount, so the lot shouldn't be too hard.... *****/end freeze frame***** So there I am, falling towards the lot from about 20' of vert (as confirmed from numerous witnesses. I get ready for impact... ****One more freeze frame**** Turns out, they plowed the lot around 5am, and in the time since then, it had been covered by about an inch. The rest was ice. and gravel. *****/end painful flashback**** I hit, shattered my right elbow, got a concussion, sprained my right wrist, and ankle (somehow!) and to top it all off, found that I was pissing blood the next morning. I had torn my kidney! While I lay in the parking lot, gear all sprawled about, my friends skied over: "You okay?" "*struggling for breath* yup,. yup, fine" "You sure?" "yeah....." So then they laughed, kicked some snow on me and skied away. I staggered to my feet, put my gear back on, and skied back to the lodge. Took everything off and went and sat by the fire. My dad showed up about 4 hours later, when someone finally called him for me. Yeah. That was pretty bad. Then there was the time I collasped my lung.....

Is anyone else having 1-2 day delay when recieving mail? I have mail that comes from multiple sources and the dates are all 1-2 days back. If friends email me on thursday, it doesn't get to my inbox till sunday. What's up with that? Please don't make me resort to stamps and envelopes for fast mail.

Ok, I tried not to say anything, as I often do, but don't diss the animation. Ok, maybe diss the animation, but don't diss what it's trying to do. It's trying to open people's eyes. Sure, we see it and say "Shit, I know all of that, but it's not my fault, I can't do anything to make a huge diff, so I'll do what I can, but won't spend my life feeling bad." Well that'd be a fine statement, IF people ALWAYS thought that way. IF it didn't take someone standing infront of you with pics and numbers to get people to think like that. The vast majority of people in the west are ignorant, usually by choice, to the true extent of damage that our culture is causing the rest of the world. We're blind 90% of the time to the pain and suffering that goes on out there. Most times, we don't want to know. How often do you hear people say, "I don't even watch the news anymore. It's all bad, depressing shit." Well it's f***ing true, it is! But you don't see them running off crusading for a better newscast, do you? No, because that's over there, and we're over here. "Maybe the makers could better spend thier time helping the underprivileged as opposed to trying to make the rest of us feel bad about what we have." -Rainbo That reeks of the current public outlook; Let them someone else help them, I'm gonna go see a movie. Why don't we ALL help them. Why not take the selfless route and choose to lower our standard of living in order to raise another human's? How many of you are religious? Take the bible, how much emphasis is put on helping your fellow man, to the point where you simply cannot anymore? Religion is just one of a thousand logical motives to equalize the living standards of the earth, if that's the one that gets some people up and working in that direction, fine. If it take profiteers believing there's a profit to be made in having a wider market, fine. If it take peoples good will, fine, what ever it takes, there are so many good resons to do it en-mass, but alas, we do not. Why? Why not. We could sooooo easily have been born into poverty and terrible conditions. Why is there so much negativity? I don't understand the driving force.

Riggerrob, are you experienced with CRW? I'm a real low-timer, but am interested in it, and knowing that there's other people out at Pitt meadows would be a real incentive to learn in that direction eventually.
