Every civilisation in the world that I know anything about believed in some kinds of imaginary animal. The invention of non-existent fauna certainly seems pretty universal.     We covered ages of consent pretty thoroughly up-thread. You also seemed to have missed Andy's general agreement with the action of the father in the beginning of the thread. I'm pretty sure that the comment was a one-off joke. Agreed, though I think it was meant more as sarcasm than a joke...(although many may consider them as the same thing.) But that's the problem with sarcasm especially in an online forum...I once asked a guy if he was being sarcastic...he replied, "no, sarcasm only gets me into trouble." ...and if you give a warning label to your comment as being sarcastic, it tends to just take away from the fun of sarcasm... but oh well...I'm starting to see that it's much more profitable to be credible than to be funny.     This could also be said about many people who say Merry Christmas... It's interesting that Christmas is celebrated as a symbol of Christ's birth and not his death given the ideology of the Roman sacrificial Mass. Furthermore, there are many people within reformed christian denominations that are strongly opposed to the propitiatory idea of the Mass yet they still say Merry Christmas... Maybe they understand the etymology, maybe they don't, but the fact remains that most people say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays not because of their etymological background but rather because of the warm hearted preception and sensitivity to tradition, family, and unity. Merry Christmas everybody! ....and Happy Holidays! Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
