  1. Fine then...If I don't wanna be called out on my errors then I should be more careful not to make any. Likewise, if you don't want to be called out for acting like a condescending tit, then you should be more careful not to. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  2. Wow...thanks bud! I was just thinking the same thing and questioning if I should post a rather lengthy reply. After reading this post I think it might be time to just let this one go... Thanks again for speaking up!
  3. I have no problem taking my lumps, but when Max started talking about problems arising when people superficially glance at a verse and use it in a way that was never intended, I didn't want to continue on because I felt I might be headed down that road. I am more concerned with the proper handling of scripture than getting heat from posting some vague incomplete scientific inference that offends people. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  4. It's pointless to even try and have a reasonably respectful conversation and expect some viable insight when talking to some people here. They'll just ignore your earlier points in an attempt to twist your words for the sole pupose of name calling because they don't like what you stand for. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  5. Meh, you're about 50/50 Dr. Freud... Not bad! Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  6. Probably the part where I noted that the professor's auto erotic ego stimulation was of little import. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  7. I already told you why... But to add to that...I decided to refrain from adding to the fire because of several things you and Maadmax said: You: "the 'claims' you refer to are so vague" Max: "Problems arise when passages are read with a superficial glance and then attributed a meaning that may never have been intended." I figured if I continued with any specific detail, I would be doing a disservice to both scripture and science. I may have also started to tread dangerously close to contradicting my original statement that the Bible is not a science book. No, the meaningful scrutiny was when you said that the bible was only "vaguely and superficially" consistent with science. I can live with that...thanks. Is that enough concession for you? Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  8. Well like I said, this isn't a thread about gravity nor did I personally present any substantial claim about it, so your scientific scrutiny is unwarranted and of little import. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  9. No one fully understands gravity yet. That was exactly my point, but John seems to know everything. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  10. Well there were several implications that I would've liked to discuss along with examples other than hydrology without having to reply to multiple nit picks about how scripture uses the wrong terminology or how it's not 100% accurate according to today's scientific standards and that I'm just an incompetent liar. When I make a provocative statement I'm hoping to have somewhat of a civil conversation and certainly open to meaningful scrutiny, but often some people just use it for an orgasmic display of ego masturbation. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  11. Well you'd be wrong Professor...This isn't a thread about gravity, but I'll have a report on your desk by Friday. Get over yourself already...it's pathetic. You're an old silvered hair wise man of noble stature...very unbecomming of you Sir. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  12. We already discussed this Quade when you said the Bible would be more credible if the creation story was scientific.... I replied: "All that jazz" meaning things like magic walking sticks, surviving walks through burning furnaces, floating zoos, giant mamal fish that regurgitate living humans, talking donkies, walking on water, flying, turning water into wine and on and on and on... Like I said, I believe in an infinte universe where all things are possible...don't expect us to be ashamed of that. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  13. Or maybe he's just being a real moderator rather than just posing as one. Great lengths?? The creation story is not even a page and a half long. That's like less than .01 pecent of the entire book...There are genealogies WAY longer than that! Don't get so bent outta shape. Spirituality is practically the exact opposite of the physical...you're not supposed to understand. btw, did you get my reference to Rev 22:5 about how we don't need a sun to provide light? I believe in an infinite universe where all things are possible...Don't expect us to be ashamed of that. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  14. Nice...now that's some much appreciated and needed moderation right there. Thanks! Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  15. Oh...I see. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  16. Ya, I was spouting off...funny how so many people lost their heads over a couple of words said in jest. But I'm happy I was able to provide you with some entertainment, self confidence and the opportunity to display some arrogance. True, trying to explain something as obvious as an apple falling off a tree was the challenge...and I bet you still don't fully understand it... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  17. Vaguely and superficially, yes. But so what? What is the point? Fine, I'll concede my inference to biblical writers having some type of transcendant divine knowledge about evaporation since it may have been common knowledge around 1500 BC considering that that knowledge was being used as an analogy to convey a spiritual truth. true, but the analogy to convey the character of God IS meaningful to those who believe. Yes, the unknowable is mind boggling...but by faith and the grace of God it's all been working out somehow. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  18. No, that's not what he's saying. Jakee would never find the bible credible until God zaps him with faith and spiritual life...speak for yourself. But, seriously? Credibility? In this world? Even if it were written at tedious length to your scientific standards with 15 syllable words, you know you'd still have to get passed the fact that we still believe in rising from the dead and all that jazz...right? Well, we keep telling you guys that the bible isn't a science book nor is it meant to be used as such. It's a spiritual book used to understand human depravity and the character of God...and since the things of the spirit are set in opposition to the things of the physical, I don't suspect to find an answer that'll tickle your fleshly fancy. ...but I'll humor you with some numerological entertainment: Since you are talking about the 16th and 17th verses from the beginning of the bible, I logically deduce the answer to this mystery to be found in the 17th and 16th verses from the end of the Bible. You may wanna get that hippie lettuce ready, or whatever it is you do to prepare to transcend beyond the limits of the finite mind... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  19. The verse I gave is consistent with hydrology. Maybe that info was readily availble when it was written around the time of Babylon. At least the professor was able to provide some insight. Do you have anything substantial to offer other than to just keep calling me a bullshit artist? btw, are you saying that people can't make scientifically accurate observations nor write about the physical world before it's sceintifically proven to your standards? Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  20. Of course not...The Bible is big enough without having a bunch of knowledge that is useless for spiritual development. To fit it in maybe it can cut out some of those Old Testament stories which are supposedly worthless anyway, you know - the stuff about stoning homosexuals and such things. You guys vehemently bring this up without ever recognizing the the big picture and it's relation to one of the greatest spiritual truths of the Law vs. Grace found in the Old and New testaments. Yes, we know God is vocal about his standards that we find impossible to live by. It is clear that almost every action we find to be "natural," basically condemns us to death....fine, but that's the Law and we tend to get a lil pissy about it... But there is also Grace and I think a very practical illustration of this is found in the relationship between Joseph and Marry. Joseph could've legally had Marry put to death. He could've legally had that filthy venomous adulteress stoned like a filthy unfaithful whore who dishonored his manhood, but he didn't...why? Because he was a just man and resolved to send her away quietly because he did not want her to be publicly disgraced. I think how people respond to these stoning laws tell more about the condition of their own heart rather than about God or the people to be stoned. If you're willing to kill your fiance because you can, I think it just shows that you're very hateful unforgiving prick who is more concerned with his ego and never loved his woman to begin with, but rather only himself. These verses about the law also tell us alot about ourselves today...some just look at them as reasons not to believe, while others strive to find the lessons of virtue and apply it to spiritual growth and knowledge about God. Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart: Matthew 7:7-8 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  21. I don't know and I don't care what they do... I don't have a problem with science as long as it doesn't require faith. My faith does not rely on Scientific observations...haven't you listened to what we've been saying? Does anybody here do anything other than look for reasons to flame the same way yall do with scripture? Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  22. My comment was regarding the hydrolic cycle to convey a spiritual truth, not virga. But, thanks...next time I'll use virga as an illustration of why atheist may lack spiritual germination. Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  23. There are verses in the Bible that use observations of the physical world to convey a spiritual truth. I found the example I gave to be similar to scientific facts regarding hydrology. It's interesting to me... Ya, God...how did you think I was gonna answer that! No problem...I also like go to science to understand how the Universe works. I think I can honestly say that I never used the Bible for an open book science test...
  24. Well, he got alot more than just points for explaining it... Look, I wasn't trying to take away any credit from Newton. A very fundamental part of science is to make observations, and in many cases to observe the obvious. You gave me the crazy face because someone in the bible made an observation that rain fell downward.(which wasn't even my point, thanks) I simply noted that Newton also made an obvious observation. One applied it to religion, the other science... What's the big deal? Everyone's wiggin' out... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
  25. Of course not...The Bible is big enough without having a bunch of knowledge that is useless for spiritual development. Yes, this seems to be the general consensus from all those who were actually there to observe creation. Most of their reports also tend to be longer than one or two pages... Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
