Hmmm.....that's a good question. Yes, I'd want something if it was used for a commercial purpose. Still, when it comes specifically to Nationals (or other official competitions), I'd be happy if they waived or greatly reduced the registration fee. For me it would depend on the footage. If it's just happy smiley freefly footage....something that would shine a positive light on the sport.....sure, I'd either give it or sell it, whatever. If it's "You Gotta See This" footage of one of my buddies hooking in and breaking himself.....no way I'd let them get ahold of it. Period. I've been looking for a few songs for a while, and I'm considering joining something like MusicMatch, etc.... Anyone have any good advice on which to choose? I've tried MusicMatch and Sony, Kazaa, and WinMX. MM and Sony are good and reliable, but I can't seem to find any songs on there that aren't in the top 40. I was looking for Afro-Celt with Peter Gabriel "When You're Fallin" and the proggies seemed to think it didn't exist. Same thing with a few Kottonmouth Kings tracks, Hadley, etc..... I might need a ride late at night from the Philly airport, and so will Liz. I'll be getting in sometime after 10 or 11. We're taking separate flights, so I'm not sure when she's gonna show up. So.....anyone gonna be sober and super nice?? -

I can see what you're trying to say here (or at least I think I do, I might be misunderstanding something). You're implying that because the party scene is so crazy after the beer light comes on and at boogies and such, that we, as skydivers, are being irresponsible and therefore are, in fact, the "whacko's" I'm speaking of. I see your point, I really do. Still......... It's better to have 5 guys skydive with only 1 of them being a dumbass than for 10 to skydive and 5 of them be dumbasses. Understand now? We don't want skydiving to become popular. The reputation of the sport is too precious and fragile to lose to some "thrillseekers" wanting to look cool. That's all I'm trying to say. F*ck the money, I'm thinking more about human life and the reputation of the sport. I agree with Phree here that we'd have a hundred kids wanting to be Swooper X, and that would just be the BEGINNING of the problem. Imagine what it would be like if every wannabe "EXTREME sportist" (people who do crazy shit cuz they think it makes them look cool) got turned on to skydiving. I can see it now...."I have 20 jumps, I'm gonna take it to the EXTREME and hook this in!!". Personally, I wouldn't want every whacko out there wanting to be a skydiver. Non skydiving...um....I'm not sure of any. There were definitely a couple of times like bike wrecks, car wrecks, and other stuff of the sort when I thought "oh shit this is REALLY gonna suck", but I don't think I actually thought I was gonna die. Skydiving.....twice. Once was a near canopy collision (shit that was close!! ), and the other was that moment when I was holding my silver in my hand, looking at it, and there was nothing above my head yet.
