Well, IMHO, I'd say the power lines would be easier to avoid, simply by avoiding roads. Everybody learned in ground school that when landing off, you should find an open, clear area to land in. Therefore, pick the MIDDLE of the field, and you'll be fine. Stick close to the roads, and you'll find power lines. Trust me, I know about off dz landings, that's how I got my name. You can easily guess where lines will be if you just head for open areas, but for canopies, you need to be looking around you 360 degrees around, up, and down. Sure, you might need a baggy jumpsuit to slow your ass down, and a bigger canopy, but you'll be FINE. Okay, I gotta get in on this..... A couple years ago, a buddy of mine was dating this girl that did an internship or something at a clinic, so she got us a couple of piss cups. After filling our cups with "piss" (apple juice), we went into the biggest bathroom in the Columbus City Center Mall around 1:00 on a Saturday. Needless to say it was busy in there, line and everything. So, we wait until two urinals get free right next to each others, and acted like we were "filling our cups". So how much does the freefly version of those enhance your leg power head down anyway? I've heard they'll slow you down nicely, and give you a more rigid surface on the legs, but personally, on a scale from 1-10, how would you rate them for head down work?? Dude, I don't think you're getting the point. It seems by now it has become "flavor", at least with most people. I'm just wondering what the few with the problem with me's problem really is, because they seem to make it out like it is referenced to my being a "bad jumper", though time and time again they're told otherwise by people I normally jump with, and even by people I don't normally jump with but have done 1 or 2 with me. I'm just kinda wondering why, after I feel I've more than proved myself, I'm just always the guy that gets shit on at the end of the day. That's all I wanna know man. It has nothing to do with my name, my flying skills, or the way I like my eggs, it's just a matter of respect, and I think not only should everyone be treated with such respect just for being human, but as skydivers, it should be an even closer bond, and none of those vibes should be spread throughout people that have done nothing to anyone. I think deep down we're all thinking the same thing, move on to the next level. I don't think anyone should do it for self-promotion though. For instance, myself, I would love to be a part of whatever the next step is, but what are the odds I will be? I just want to see our generation contribute to the sport like so many others in the years before us have. Believe me, I'm going to do everything in my power to contribute what I personally can, but what matters is what we all do as a whole. One person can make a thousand jumps a year, but what good is that one person if he doesn't pass on what he knows to newer jumpers?? Very well put. It is a very serious evolution, and now I'm just wondering where we go to next? Do we wait for the pros, or do we intermediate skydivers try something new like Olav did? I'm no great freeflyer, and I'm no great skydiver in general. But neither was Olav when he started developing freefly. Everybody thought he was crazy for thinking he could fly with a "skyball" while going "head down", and now look how widely accepted it is, and how widely known. I guess what I'm trying to get at is, in my opinion, it's this generation's responsibility to take freefly, or just human flight, to the next level. Just one more orientation, one more way to fly, one more leap towards full free flight. In my opinion, this next generation pretty much owes it to Olav and the rest of the pioneers to further the freefly progression. The only question is, like I said before, what's next?
