I would like to tell you a bit more about God

I apologise for not getting back on the journal info yet . Had a grueling two weeks, so I haven't gotten round to it yet. I'll try to make work of it as soon as possible. A lecturer at the university discussed it in class, so i'll have to get to him to ask him. Knowing a bit about genetics I honestly don't know if I believe the research, but I don't believe in evolution either... -

I do not know in which journal the following discoveries were documented, and I was unable to take in all the scientific evidence that was used to substanciate it, but it has basically been proven that humans did not evolve from anything (especially apes). It has to do with how our genetic material is transferred from one generation to the next. Basically, humans are the most intricate and complicated forms of life on earth. Less evolved forms of life could've evolved from humans but not the other way around. I'll try to get hold of the report and make sure what the precise mechanisms are. -

Please try not to twist my words. I never said anything of the sort. Each of us live our own lives, I am not able to experience your life as you do. I simply stated events that happened, and how I experienced it. I am not arrogant, I am not full of myself, i'm not naive or anything else someone would like to through at me. I'm simply a believer. Someone who believes in God. I'm not demeaning anyone else's beliefs, i'm not degrading anyone as a person, i'm not disregarding anyone's opinions. If you wish to interpret anything i've posted in that manner, that is not my intention. -

I don't know, get to know Him a bit better, then ask Him yourself. Enjoy your day -

I haven't read the thread refered to above. In the old Testament, we were to be punished for our sin. In the New Testament, Jesus died for our sins, therefore taking our punishment. Through Christ we are washed clean. Whether you're a Christian or not, just think about it - has anyone ever loved you so much that they would die for you? -

I keep getting the same comment over and over and over. I ignored it the first 20 times, but here goes. God did not break my leg. My own inexperience and miscalculation and probably a bit of uncurrency caused that. I'm human, I make mistakes, but that's my fault, not God's. I landed close to people, that meant that I got help faster, I see it as divine intervention, if you want to interpret it otherwise, go for it. The "double fracture" was because it was a tortion fracture, in other words the bone twisted, and the built up tension of it being rotated, caused it to break. It's not a big deal, or at least for the person who experienced it, it's not. -

My mistake. I'm afrikaans. In afrikaans, a medical doctor is called a dokter, while someone who has their Phd is called a doktor. I'm not studying languages -

I have already stated that I am not a theologist. But have you ever taken a look at the commanmends of the Bible: 1. Don't have sex before marriage - how many people are dying from HIV/AIDS because they do not obide by this. 2. The Bible tells you you're unclean if you touch blood - we know today that so many diseases can spread through blood. In my opinion, all the "rules/regulations" in the Bible are not there to make your life less fun or difficult, but to protect you. I have non-christian friends as well, I do not mock them for anything they believe in. That is their personal choice. I placed the post for people who might be searching for something, something they might not even know they're looking for. I am not trying to convert you or any other person in this forum to Christianity, but there may be someone who appreciated that message. If only one person got something out of that post, even if I get a 1000 critics on this thread, it would make it worth my while. -

I don't believe in coincidences. I'm not trying to make a believer out of you. If you choose not to believe in God, that's your decision. -

I'm not claiming that, in context of the trying world out there that my experience was 'a true trying experience'. When there's only direction you can possibly consider taking in your life where your profession is concerned it is quite frightening to not be given the opportunity to qualify yourself in it. But I must admit that believing God's promise that I would get in, after so much negative feedback from different institutions, does takes some degree of faith. Or at least it did for me. In answer to your second question - I didn't want to go to Pretoria, I wanted to go to Bloemfontein. I already had my academic clothes bought for it. So I honestly do not believe I would've been interested in finding out what Pretoria had to tell me. But God knows best and He placed me where He knew I would prosper. -

God is a God of love, not one who hurts. So your example isn't very rational. -

You talk about all the suffering of the people in your country. Have you ever done anything to help any of them? We as Christians are God's hands. He wants us to reach out to His people and to help them. His number one command is that you should love Him and others as you love yourself. Do you love these people enough to help them? The Government is run by people, people are corrupt and they lie and they hurt one another. God does not make them do it. -

God says that he gave us His Word for us to get to know him. I don't know all the divine secrets and pretend to understand all that He is. But I do know what he tells me in His Word. I don't need more than that. -

Besides being a Christian, i'm also a rationalist, but there are things in life that you have to accept as they are. Either you believe it or you dont. There's a verse in the Bible where Jesus says that His children knows his voice, and they'll know when He speaks to them. Once the Holy Spirit opens your heart up, you'll know when It's your Father speaking to you. -

Hi there. I apologise for not responding to anyones comments. I posted the thread on Friday and went skydiving on Saturday. I'm still a student, I wanted to do level 8, 9 and 10 of my AFF that day. I did level 8 - all went well, untill the landing. We have a massive student landing area, but then you tend to be quite far away from the area where there's people. I miscalculated my descent, and landed near the building, where I wasn't supposed to land. I flared a bit too late, hitting the ground a bit harder than I should've. I could've rolled it out, but my legs got stuck, because the ground was uneven. I was in quite a bit of pain, but told myself I'd probably just sprained my ankles and if I lay there long enough the pain would go away. It didn't. If I had landed in the student landing area, it would've bee a while before anyone would've seen that I had gotten hurt. As it were, I landed right next to people who could help me. And, quite amazingly, there was a docter at the dropzone - he had been on the same load as I. I broke my leg on two places, but it'll heal. It just once again showed me that God looks after his children. He placed me close to help, and he supplied a docter to look after me. What more can a girl ask for -

Hi there. About two weeks ago, God placed the desire in my heart to place this post. Eversince I've been so busy and I keep telling myself that I'll get to it at some point or another. I finally decided to do it tonight, although I'm writing an absolutely grueling test next week (which I should be studying for). I'm simply placing this post for people who would like to know more about God. If you would like to read it - do so, otherwise ignore it or start a new thread bashing it if that is your wish. I just sincerely want to ask you not to do so in this thread. I am not a Theologist, or anyone else trained to spread the word of God. I'm simply a girl who believes in the Lord and who realizes that there are people in this world who do not know God, or anything truthful about him. Therefore I would just like to tell you something about the God I know. If there is anyone who would like to send me a private message, you are more than welcome to do so, I would just like to reiterate the point I made about bashing this thread. Some of the information i'm putting up here I took out of a book i've got - My little book on God. I don't know if copywrite applies here, but I'd just like to state that some of this is not my own words. And obviously I'll be taking scriptures from the Bible. So, here goes: GOD IS CREATOR: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 Wherever we look there is evidence of the greatness of God. His crativity is endless: each sunset has its own delightful radiance, each flower its distinctive loveliness. God has created sucha variety and splendor to remind us of His infinite glory. GOD IS ALMIGHTY: Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." God is able to handle any situation, because He is almighty and all-sufficient. Nobody is stronger than God. Nobody is more powerful. He can do anything and everything necessary to look after you. Nothing is impossible for God. He will fulfill His promises to you in His perfect time and way. What seems impossible to you is more than possible to Him. GOD IS PROVIDER: And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 God knows what His children need and promises to privide everything that is necessary for us to live a godly life. He is deeply compassionate and extravagantly generous. He has more than enough for all our needs, and we can always trust Him to do what is best for us. Do you need comfort? God is the Comforter. Do you need guidance? He sends His Holy Spirit to show us the way. Do you need righteousness? He provided it through the blood of Jesus Christ. Do you need wisdom? He is our wisdom. Trust Him. He will always give you what you need. Always. GOD IS PEACE: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 Peace is not an external absence of conflict but an inner sense of assurance that all will be well because your heavely Father cares for you. The God of peace is in control of the world and when we submit to Him and live as He calls us to, we will experience peace even when everything around us is in chaos. Too often we worry because we haven't yet learned to trust God in all things and so we deprive ourselves of peace. Lay all your worries and concerns at His feet today, and you will experience His peace that passes all understanding. There's a verse somewhere in the Bible that ends something like this: let me not forget all the great things God has done in my life - or at least that's my interpretation of it. I hope I can recall all his works in my life. I would like to give my own personal testimony. It's not something earth-shattering, but it's times when I've clearly seen God's hand at work in my life. I grew up in a Christian family. Going to church every sunday etc. But I never really knew Christ. When I was in grade 11, my father moved to Cape Town, and I asked my mother if we could move to a church where all of my friends went to. At my first sundayschool lesson there, the lady sent a little box with Bible verses around for us to take one. I got a verse from Psalm 91. This has been my absolute favourite chapter in the Bible since I was a little girl. God became alive for me, and it was in Grade 11 that I finally truely gave my heart to the Lord. A living Lord, not just someone in an ancient book, but one who lives today, and everyday, in your heart and mine. Let me just quickly clarify something. When I say God speaks to me, or tells me something, I'm not talking about hearing voices or anything extravagant like that. I simply mean that you just suddenly know something, or you get a random thought, or you randomly open your Bible and you read a verse and that has certain meaning for you. God isn't an overpowering God or a loud one - he wants your heart to be quiet - that's when you hear Him the best. God placed a desire in my heart to study medicine. He also told me to trust Him, and that I would get into medicine. Grade 11 marks are the most important for ones selection, so obviously I worked extremely hard during that year. I sent applications to three universities - Stellenbosch, Bloemfontein and Pretoria. I got replys from Stellenbosch and Bloemfontein, but never heard anything back from Pretoria - I accepted that it would still come. One night, during that year, I heard a car crash. I got out of bed, went to the front window of the house, peered out, but I couldn't see anything. I went back to my room, but still smelling that oil and water smell, I went outside. A car had driven through our garden wall. The next morning, the young man who had driven through our garden wall, came to apologise, and he also brought several letters from the university of Pretoria. It was my mail from the university. It turned out he lived in the same street as ours, his adress was 6a, ours is 69, needless to say, I didn't complete the 9, and all my correspondence went to them. Because I got the letters much later than I was supposed to, I basically had a week to confirm res placement and to pay the deposit. Had the mail come any later, I wouldn't have had a place to stay. Anyway, having worked very hard that year, I heard at the beginning of grade 12 that I had not gotten into medicine at any of the universities I applied to. There was a 2nd round of selection at the end of grade 12, so I continued working hard, but at the end of the year I once again heard that I had not been accepted anywhere. In the December holidays, in my grade 12 year, I went to visit my father in Cape Town. My cousin and two of his friends came to visit. One of his friends also stayed in Pretoria, and we became good friends. I really wanted to go to Bloemfontein. My cousin's friend and I were on our way to go camping with my cousing and other family when I got the news that I didn't get into the program there. I thought I would be absolutely crushed, but I got this sense of calm, knowing everything would work out for the best. Pretoria has a program where you can get into medicine after 6 months if you do a Bsc course with modified subjects that are the same as those for medicine. But only 20 people get selected - we turned out to be about 300 trying to get in that way. I got placement at res in pretoria, but after a week at first year camp, and meeting so many new people that it made me sick, I had to move into res. I was quite apprehensive, because I was so sick of small talk that I wanted to scream. I also had no idea who my roommate would be. When I got to the res, I was told that my roommate was a girl I went to school with - one I liked -God saved my sanity on that occasion - no small talk required - we knew each other. The first 6 months of my first year was a grueling time, adjusting, working, etc. I was away from all my family and friends. My cousin's friend, whom I met in Cape Town, turned out to be a lifeline. He was my entire support system in those first few months. I know that God sent him on my way even before I knew I would need him. During those six months, my faith was really being tested. You see all these people studying with you every day, knowing that only 20 of you can get in. But I held onto the promise that God had made me two years previously. That June holiday, I got a phone call - it was the university informing me that I had been selected for medicine. Needless to say, I was elated! It turned out that 40 people had been selected. When I got to class on the first day, I again saw no familiar face - except one - a girl my roommate had introduced me to a while ago. I sat with her for a while. We became friends. Today, 99% of my friends are people who got in through the Bsc course, not for any other reason, but that we had not yet established friendships in the group. I have only known them for a bit more than a year now, but I love them more than my schoolfriend whom i've known for more than 7 years. AND THEY ALL LOVE CHIRST. God has sent so many amazing people into my life, all people whom love Him with all their hearts, and I have such an amazing support system. I believe they are a gift from God, and I have grown incredibly spiritually. I believe God is in control of my life, and He will always provide. God doesn't always give you what you want, but He gives you what He knows you need. I've learned to trust in Him, and of course life isn't always rosy, but I know that all God is in control, and He will not fail me. I am adding my name to my profile. I never put my name on the internet, because you never know what perverts are out there, but I want you to know that there's real people out there who believe in God, not just people with covert usernames. That's my bit. Hope the right person/s get out of this what they're supposed to. -

I'm quite new at this, so excuse if this is a very stupid question, but how do you get the different levels like A, B, etc. Does it depend on how many jumps you do, or what types of jumps...?
