It also depends on exactly where in Afg or Irq the person is located. Us fobbits at the large bases (Leatherneck, Bagram, Kandahar) get mail fairly regular and quickly. I can order something online and get it in a week or two. But I have teams that live 'outside the wire' that we get to when we can. Sometimes, that isnt very often. I saw the exact same thing once. There seemed to not be any response to a near death experience. Hell, I was more shaken up that the individual riding the reserve. But I've also seen this in combat. You just can't really asses anyone's mental state based on an immediate observation in the thick of things. There is simply no way to know what's going on in someone's head. Especially when the adreneline is pumping. I think that it comes down to having a relaxed dicussion well after the incident is over and everyone has had time to think it through. I guess that my point here is that there is already a system in place that is supposed to deal with instruction quality control. IMO, it’s not really enforced anywhere that I’ve seen. Does adding another layer of instructor qualification get us anything (useful) that we don’t already have? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

Coaches are supposed to work under the supervision of an Instructor. Shouldn’t they (Instructors) be held accountable for the coach's quality of instruction or lack of? Everyone always seems to overlook the fact that coaches are not supposed to be operating on their own. Didn’t USPA intentionally put this provision in place in order to deal with so called bad coaches? D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

Stay strong bro - The shit does get better eventually. It took me about 18 months or so. Find new friends and let yourself enjoy life. The best way to get over a woman? Get on top of a new one! D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

I normally jump at Reaford every weekend and I'd hook you up but I'm currently in AFG. There are 2 other DZs that are closer but don't fall for it. Go to raeford, it's well worth the drive. There are several of us on Facebook and Jumper03 can put you in touch with them. Make a jump for me! D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

Where to jump? Atlanta Skydiving Center or Skydive The Farm?
Deisel replied to SuperKat's topic in Events & Places to Jump
The Farm. I was there twice in 3 years for jumping (drinking) type events. Both times were for about a 3 day period in which everyone was either jumping hard during the day or partying hard at night. Can't say I remember much other than having a great time. Even more remarkable - I had an occasion to go back a few months ago to finish up a rating course. Several people (including Hans) remembered me! I was quite impressed and will forever respect the fact that they actually give a shit about the people that jump there. Local or tourist - everybody is family and it's all good. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all. -
Are there different quals for AFFI Evaluator and Examiner? So what's the difference? I can't find anything on the USPA website? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

Thanks! Does anyone know how much they look at logbooks? I'm plenty current and jump every weekend, but I'm not the best at record keeping... The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

So, I'm about to head to Tampa on Saturday to visit some friends. They tell me that they live 45min away from Z Hills so of course I'm heading over for a jump or 12. Does anyone know of anything going on out there this weekend? And what do I need to bring besides my USPA card and reserve pack data card? Thanks. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

I don't have hard data but I do know of tail strikes related to nose up jump runs and jumpers jumping up on exit. Those had nothing to do with stalls. Also, we rolled ours over once by putting too many fat dudes outside the plane But for what it's worth, the PAC is an awesome platform and has just about everything you can ask for in a plane. Auto-parachute-packing devices!!!!! C'mon science geeks - using the force to pack isn't quite working out for me. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

So here's the situation. We got weathered out at Raeford and I went home, started drinking and watching some awesome movies. So here’s the question: what were the best movies of the 2000s? I’ll start with 2 – Star Trek Gladiator What ya got? And yes, I've been drinking for hours now... The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

One messed up Boeing 737, a whole bunch of very lucky passengers.

Windshear is suspected by the FAA. This airport does not have Doppler radar so the pilots would not have had any idea what was coming at them. The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all. -

I'm one of the folks that John is talking about. I work at Lejeune and live at Raeford on the weekends. PM me if you still need a ride. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

That's a hell of a lot of good info there. Thanks to all!

So Dave, what i'm hearing here is that i should continue on the same canopy. am I wrong here but dosent a more aggressive canopy fly more accurately? My 190 is awesome but when I down sized to it I instantly had more control and was able to do way more than what the rentals could do. I understand that a smaller canopy is more difficult to control and more dangerous. But am I wrong to say that they are more accurate? The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.
-
Right now I'm on a Silhoutte 190 and I'm 205lbs. WL about 1.2 or so. I fly a conservative pattern but would like to work some more high performance type stuff. Currently, I find myself making 90s around 150-100 ft to land where I want. I'd like to be able to land more accurately (inside the 20' circle). Not ready to swoop yet but I'd like a more responsive canopy. I'm also planning to get into AFFI by next summer and would like ato have a second rig. Even doing coach jumps I have to hustle to make a load sometimes. I'd like the option of debriefing without having to pack at the same time
-
I'm thinking about getting a second rig (complete system). How do you determine the diffirences between canopies? Specifically - when deciding which type/brand/size, what's the difference and how do you know without having to demo each one? Now of course I get the obvious differences between shit like a Navigator 220 and Velo 90 and I get that wing load plays a big part. But between like sized canopies, different manufacturers seem to make more or less the same product. The numbers on charts don't mean squat to me. It's just white noise. So can anyone clear this up some? Thanks. D The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

There are a ton! Are you committed to the west coast or do you have options? You have to narrow it down some... The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

I did Army Airborne but all of my freefall has been civ. As a Marine only a handfull of us are freefall qualed. I was even in one of the units that do both static and MFF. But going to the MFF school house is still only a pipedream after 20 years in! The brave may not live forever, but the timid never live at all.

Had the same thing happen camping at a DZ. Best guess is that it was from the morning condensation. Now I have a ruggidized, water resistant, shock resistant phone (with a secret decoder ring ) And let me be the first to demand to see the boobs that have broken a cell phone!
