  1. Dude, you seem more brainwashed than the Michael Moore die-hards. Perhaps I'll vote twice for Obama, once for me and again for you. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  2. I don't think he is the entire government. But he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night . . . (and the rest of them let him get away with playing the part) Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  3. I'm sure it's offensive to some people. Hell, Dunham even says in the bit you linked that you can't tell jokes like that because they'll offend people. Of course the fact that it might offend some people doesn't bother me in the least. I tell offensive jokes all the time. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  4. Has anyone else gotten to the point that the word "maverick" grates on the nerves almost as much as the word "extreme"? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  5. Hey look, we agree! You must be wrong! Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  6. also Biden did good too, and actually answered most of the questions, also. She shall also thank her stars there was only one such cram session. Doggoneit. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  7. Are you referring to this Cynthia McKinney? This Cynthia McKinney? This Cynthia McKinney? Really? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  8. That's GREAT NEWS, Brandy! It ain't everything, but it sure is a step in the right direction.
  9. Neverminding the fact that pro-Obama doesn't necessarily mean partisan, I don't see a lot of reason for concern. She's a black journalist that specializes in politics and is moderator and managing editor of a political talkshow. She's writing a book entitled, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama, about which the publisher says "Drawing on interviews with power brokers like Senator Obama, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Vernon Jordan, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, and many others, as well as her own razor-sharp observations and analysis of such issues as generational conflict and the 'black enough' conundrum, Ifill shows why this is a pivotal moment in American history." To me it sounds like a topic on which she's eminently qualified to speak, and her credentials are such that I'm not terribly worried about impartiality. The fact that she may favor one Presidential candidate over the other (assuming she does) isn't evidence to me that she can't fairly moderate a vice presidential debate. Do you also think she'll be swayed toward Palin for sharing her gender? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  10. Given how stupid Bush's constituents proved in re-electing him, you're probably right. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  11. Of course they won't *say* it, but they might tap their feet in morse code. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  12. Oddly enough, my foot is swelling and turning a nice shade of purple...and I STILL maintain it just had to be done. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

  16. That is one of the more complicated justifications I've heard lately. Simplified - Dems voted 60% to pass the bill, Republicans only voted 1/3 to pass. Then when it failed, Republicans still blamed the Democrats for it failing! What kind of math are they using, anyway? I wouldn't try applying logic to these discussions, as it appears at least a couple of the participants are immune. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  17. Umm...DrDive and Ladydyver weren't there (again), thus the phone calls. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  18. And yet it also shows how people being armed is considered to be one way to protect themselves from harm. And oddly enough, I agree with both of those statements. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  19. I hadn't heard anything of it. I, for one, appreciated his posts here and over on rec.skydiving. I thought his sense of humor was great, though he did sometimes get a bit too emotionally invested in his arguments. The love he showed for his dying cat was palpable. Not knowing how he died, all I can say is I wish he hadn't. Blue skies Fedak. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  20. I already donate to Planned Parenthood every month, but not in anybody's name. This sounds like a good reason to make an extra donation. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  21. Alright, there's entirely too much speculation going on here, so let's be clear about a few of the details. This was a highly technical jump. As TheStepchild explained, it was a 3-stepper. In the planning stages, the jumper recognized the hazard associated with making the second step "blind", that is, the landing point for the third step was obscured by flames and would not be visible until after he had launched from his second step. At this point, he probably should have called off the jump, but he threw caution to the wind and hoped for the best, likely due to a moderate ETOH loading and a fundamental belief that pain is fleeting, glory lasts forever, and chicks dig scars. The first and second steps went as planned, but as he emerged from the far side of the inferno, he found that things were exactly as foreseen. His third step was off the mark and down into the coals. He'd generated sufficient momentum to carry him out of the hellhole, but the edge of the pit was lined with jagged basalt, pointy-sides facing in, and one of these grabbed a small chunk of his calf meat as a memento of the glorious occasion, exposing a bit of his shin bone so that it too could view the celebration first-hand. Our hero donned a full-body coat of silt as his victory robe, returned to his portable throne and quaffed a bit more of the fine grape while revelling in the magnitude of his feat, asked his fair damsel for a few more seconds to bask in the glory, then realized his sock was a bit damp and wandered off to find a dry pair. It was merely a flesh wound, not worthy of further mention. Blues, Dave P.S. I only called you twice. Once to ask if there was lidocaine and a suture kit in your trailer and once to ask how much lidocaine to use. It's not my fault you returned both calls, but the second one wasn't until AFTER you had achieved, umm, completion. "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  22. it really sucks that the dems need to bail themselves out at our expence. if it wasn't for clinton starting this shit we would not be here today. this news article puts blame were and when it should be put. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/09/25/1999-ny-times-article-revealed-true-cause-current-fannie-mae-crises i don't know how to make it a clicky sorry. but this is good reading. Pity that theory has been totally discredited by the facts of this crisis. what facts? that McCain tried to stop this with a bill in 2005, but in 2006 the dem controlled congress kick it out. The simplest of fact checking shows the Republicans controlled the House and the Senate in 2005 and 2006. So tell us again why this didn't pass in 2005 or 2006. Blues, Dave Because the Republican - controlled banking committee let it sit in committee. Tell us this - why didn't the Democratic - controlled banking committee act on it at any time SINCE 2006? the bill did pas the house but Dodd and his cronies stopped it in the senate. Now before the left gets their undies in a bunch and say "the rep's controlled the senate" remember it takes 60 votes in the senate to pass and just because you have the majority doesn't mean you have 60 votes. it was made this way so the minority could not be pushed over by a slight majority. So McCain got a bill through the House, but not through the Senate? And the minority Dems should be blamed for it not passing in 2005, but the minority Repubs shouldn't be blamed for the bailout not passing yesterday? I get it...you'll just say anything you want as long as it leaves you comfortably believing your guys are infallible. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Because they're as incompetent as their predecessors, though I do suspect that by 2007 it was getting a little bit late for anything other than bailouts to work. I was simply pointing out the errors in marks so-called "facts." Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
  24. You don't suppose it might have just been a snide remark to demonstrate what a wonderful effect we've had on the Iraqi condition? Blues, Dave Ah . . . and here I was getting confused. There is one particular poster in this Forum for which that might not have have been a snide remark, but an actual remark in support of his fanatical devotion to a particular point of view. Sometimes satire from certain people goes over my head. Especially when I could swear you were one of those people that was, at least at one time, an ardent supporter of the Second. You are correct that I am an ardent supporter of the Second, but that doesn't mean I'm a proponent of practices that directly result in the deaths of thousands of innocents and thousands of America, and indirectly result in the deaths of countless more innocents who die because we took actions that deprived them of fundamental healthcare.
