That's the bulk of it. Granted, with W's previous financial performance, it was unrealistic to expect much better from him. It's amazing so many people voted for him...many of them twice! Doesn't anyone remember that the mechanisms by which Reagan is credited with bringing down the USSR were primarily financial? His moves forced them to spend more than they could afford while simultaneously reducing their revenues. 20 years later, we don't need anyone doing this to us...we're doing it to ourselves. AIG execs go on fancy retreat AFTER taxpayer bailout

Oh so you support the assault weapon ban. I don't support that ban...I think I should be able to own whatever individual weapons that I may have to face from an oppressive government that is no longer following our constitution. What she said. Blues, Dave I feel I need an individual nuclear weapon to protect myself from the oppressive govt. I'm ok with the government limiting the effective area of impact a weapon can have, e.g. those weapons that can, in one discharge, kill everything within X radius...or something like that. Of course I'd also prefer that our government work toward disarming us of *all* nuclear weapons, including those held by our military. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" I said it up front, "You'll note it says nothing about God or morality. That's specifically not the job of government. " I think the Government ought to get out of the business of "marriage" altogether. I agree and disagree at the same time. I think government ought to get out of the business of marriage altogether and simply never ask the question. I also think life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are rights worthy of protection, and marriage falls into that set. Therefore, I'd say that protection of a right to marry could be guaranteed by the federal government, perhaps by separation of church and state authority. That is, if marriage is considered a religious activity, and a state government passes a law defining marriage as between one man and one woman, maybe the Supreme Court could knock that law down on the premise that it prohibits gay couples from practicing their religion. Perhaps you've already pulled the trigger on something, but the press releases and hands-on reviews of the Storm all hit the airwaves today, and seem to include 100% positive feedback/glowing reviews of the typing interface. I'm definitely looking forward to the release (hopefully Nov. 1). Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Obama extends an olive branch by offering McCain the chairperson position on his committee for geriatric issues. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Plus . . . all you would need is a 182 wide body. Ant that's for the speed star and 16 way comps! The question is whether Nationals would expand to include 100-way and how many blocks would be required. If this team trains like their peers in Atlanta, they'll be untouchable! Would You Vote For William Ayers For President?
livendive replied to piper17's topic in Speakers Corner
Dave.. Honestly.. is that what you believe? Alleged?? Really?? WOW!! I can completely understand that you are sold on Obama.. But to defend Ayers by saying "he was never convicted". The guy blew up buildings and got away with it on a technicality. Here is a quote from Bill Ayers Himself, ""I don't regret setting bombs" and "I feel we didn't do enough", and, when asked if he would "do it all again" as saying "I don't want to discount the possibility." He IS a terrorist. Plain and simple. Absoluely nothing alledged about that. Perhaps "As best I can tell" wasn't a sufficient qualifier. I know the charges against him were dropped. I don't know what those charges were, nor why they were dropped. I simply believe that he should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Do I think he's a "good guy"? Of course not. That's why I further stated that I've seen no evidence that he and Obama are particularly close. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
McCain v Obama Debate #2 about 49 minutes away
livendive replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I saw McCain get done on green, yellow, and red (once each). I didn't see Obama get done in time a single time. That point goes to McCain in my book. Both parties were surprisingly prone to "Bushisms", i.e. they said things that were basically the opposite of what they meant. Both parties also, in at least a couple instances each, got so tied up in their talking points that they seemed to forget what the question was entirely, but I thought McCain was slightly worse in that regard. Overall, I didn't think it was a particularly good debate for either guy. If I had to pick a winner, it'd be Obama, but only by a small margin. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Would You Vote For William Ayers For President?
livendive replied to piper17's topic in Speakers Corner
As best I can tell, Ayers was never convicted of any criminal acts as a member of the Weathermen and all charges against him were dropped, which would make him an "alleged" terrorist at worst. Additionally, nothing in your quote suggests that Obama selected Ayers house for his "coming of age" introduction to kick off what would later become a successful political career. Finally, according to the Washington Post, Ayers donated $200 to Obama's state senate campaign and nothing to his federal campaigns. If contributions are indicative of allegience, Obama is more indebted to me than he is to William Ayers. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
I thought of a green bean recipe, then realized it has bacon in it. I can make some kick-ass mushrooms, but they require a can of beef broth.
