This seems like a horrible case, but the media frenzy surrounding it has been disgusting too (especially that Nancy Grace dipshit on CNN). Protesters trying to pull a homeowner off his property because his granddaughter is missing/dead and his daughter is in his home? It's a freaking lynch-mob. I hope justice is served for whatever happened to that little girl, and that karma proves to be a terrible bitch for those scumbags who tried to ride the coattails of the crime into notoriety. When do campaigns stop accepting donations?
livendive replied to livendive's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm considering changing the way I donate money. Up till now, I've donated to the candidates who I thought were best for the job. I've still got plenty of room below the maximum, and only three weeks left till the election, so I'm thinking of letting their ad campaigns dictate how much each other gets from here on out. More specifically, every time I see a negative campaign ad on TV, I'll go donate $20 to the candidate being bad-mouthed. But it seems to me like there are some rules regarding a cut-off date for acceptance of donations, and I'm not sure exactly what they are. Anyone know? And it seems to me that the global discussions for a coordinated response were what it took to set the stage for yesterday's rally . . . which kind of speaks to the subject of this thread. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Oh yeah? Well have you seen the sort of people McCain "pals around with"?! Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I count some of each among my friends, and I value my relationships with all of them. If I need someone to help me work on my truck, I call one of my redneck friends. If I needed someone to be President, I'd call one of my lawyer friends. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Today it shed another 675. One year ago today, the Dow and S&P 500 hit their highest marks of all time, with the Dow at 14,165 and the S&P at 1,565. Today they closed at 8,579 and 910, putting their one-year losses at 39.4 and 41.9 percent respectively. Any predictions for where the bottom is? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" How higher Education is viewed in America and why.
livendive replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
When I was at A-school in San Diego, the gal I was seeing was talking about flying down to visit. There was a guy in my company who was most certainly within the top 5 ugliest guys I've ever seen in my life. Short, pudgy, acne, no chin, BC glasses, and a crew cut. He told me that if my gal came down, she'd leave me for him in a heartbeat. I laughed really hard and asked why. His response was to lick across the lens of his BC glasses. A group of us went to The Body Shop the following weekend. We suddenly became QUITE popular with all the strippers when elephant-man started waggin' his tongue around. I'm getting confused. Is this alternative world where everthing is reversed, or the regular way? Is it Obama or McCain that has the half brother in another country? I guess I didn't follow the trend of the thread. Obama does indeed have a half brother in another country that he doesn't really know and he has been dragged across the coals for not sending him money. Cindy McCain also has two half sisters who live in the same country as her, whom she does not claim and with whom she has not shared her rather large inheritance. I've not seen her accused of having poor character for this Apparently you put more weight in an undergrad essay written 20+ years ago than I do. Of course I also read the paper's conclusions rather than just the soundbite in the introduction. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Intelligence and education are most certainly two different things, and insecurity is unrelated to either. Common sense can also prove quite lucrative, but bragging about it demonstrates insecurity independent of the presence or absence of said "street smarts." But did you ever use the quote "I'm not very educated, but I have COMMON SENSE - or I am STREET SMART" another quote from the insecure Yep, that was me. And of course by saying so I proved the opposite. I know I'm more educated today and a bit more mature, and I hope I have more "common sense" than I did then. I've not seen any reason to believe Obama was born outside of the US. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I've yet to see a single shred of evidence suggesting he was born anywhere other than Hawaii. On what grounds do you and others suggest he was born in Kenya? I suspect it's for no reaon other than wishful thinking. I also think that if he caves to this sort of baseless attack, the next one will include demands that he prove he was never convicted of any crime at any time in any place...again without any foundation. If someone wants to accuse him of something, they should bring something a bit stronger than "I say you are a convicted felon, and it's your responsibility to prove otherwise." Oddly enough, almost every single person who views formal learning (and teaching) poorly is someone who has not had the benefit of such an education. I used to be one of those people, and later discovered that it had been simple jealousy. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
I remember my first really good kiss. I'm pretty sure there were a couple bad ones before that, but I've been fortunate enough to have forgotten them. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

And what if McCain's wife denounced her two half-sisters, claimed to be an only child (even at her father's funeral, with one of them present), and didn't share any of her rather large fortune with them? Would she be vilified like Obama has been for not sending money to his half-brother in another country? Oh...wait, maybe I already know the answer to this question. The gas station across the street from my office still uses the old analog pumps (rotating wheels). They only have 3 wheels, and the highest number on the far left wheel is two...so 2.99 is the highest per gallon price they can work with. Ever since gas went over 3 bucks a gallon, they've simply halved whatever they're charging and expect the customers to come in and report a sale of double the displayed value. I find it funny, and continued going there until two weeks ago when I found (too late) that they were charging 38 cents more than the station kitty-corner to them (which was running around average). I asked why they were so far off and they said they still had to pay for their last delivery which had been at a higher price. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I would split the description into two pieces. His politics are certainly right of center in the US, and his persona is "extreme". I agree with some of his opinions, and disagree with others, and in both instances think he comes across as a total douchebag of a person. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
