The REAL pussies are the ones who are so shit-scared of the terrorists that they're willing to sacrifice the best of American ideals. What he said. If our legal system is capable of fairly dealing with Timothy McVeigh, Ted Bundy, Ted Kaczynski, and similarly unpleasant individuals, it's capable of dealing with these guys. If it's not good enough, let's actually have a declaration of war, and then treat these guys as POWs. Either way, we're a nation of laws, and we should hold ourselves to them rather than try to evade them. Our willingness to abandon that aspect of ourselves as a result of these guys alleged actions represents a partial victory for them. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Definitely. Those arrests were a disgrace from the very beginning. So agents who break the law aren't a disgrace, but arresting them for it is? Got it. You're right. I felt much safer with those false report filers in jail and a dangerous drug smuggler given full immunity for testifying against them. Thanks for clearing that up! Hey, if you're cool with cops shooting people in the back and covering it up, more power to ya. Personally, I've met too many dumb and/or bully cops to think they should be afforded that kind of power. Then again, I don't really give a shit whether people smuggle drugs. Yeah, me neither. Who cares that the smugglers subsidize some of the most violent gangs in the world? Who cares that they have reduced the border towns to centers of murder and kidnapping? Pass the bong, dude! If I had a bong, I'd care whether people smuggled drugs, but as I said, I don't. There are also quite violent cops, and cops who help support really bad people, and in either case (bad cops or drug smugglers), the law should be followed. Personally, I consider criminals who are also cops to be more offensive and dangerous than criminals who are also illegal immigrants, mostly because the former has access to the public trust which they can then abuse. I'd prefer having no cops to having cops with no respect for the law they are entrusted to uphold. Obviously your opinion differs. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" I still haven't seen last season. The last episode I watched was them getting off the island. Did they do a full-season despite last year the writer's strike? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

My current job requires a fairly specific educational background. In college, nowhere near half my classmates were female. Therefore, the pool of qualified individuals for my job is not split 50/50 and thus neither is the workforce. I've also previously been a commercial fishermen for a few years and a bouncer at a couple of different bars. Oddly enough, I didn't see a line of women being turned away from those jobs in favor of men either. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

While that is true, it's a bit misleading. Nobody is asking applicants whether they have been harmed by state-sanctioned educational or housing segregation. A determination has been made that a class of people has been harmed and is deserving of compensation. The disciminating factor used to determine whether an individual belongs to that class is not whether they have been harmed, but rather what race they belong to, thereby making it "racial discrimination." From dictionary.com In such an instance, the white person would not be missing a job opportunity because of the color of his skin, but rather because he was not the individual who had won a lawsuit mandating the hiring of the winning plaintiff. No. The judge/jury are giving him $50,000 because he's been "harmed", not because he's black. They're also taking the money from the company that actually deprived him of his civil rights, not just some random white-owned corporation, or white peer. By contrast, when an admissions/hiring decision is based on race, the school/company is still getting what they wanted (a qualified employee/student), but there's an innocent party being "harmed" as a result of being the wrong race. What you've just described isn't any less racist, it's just been deemed "legal" or "justified" or "acceptable" or maybe "compensatory" racism. Most people consider the killing of another human bad. Sometimes, survival depends on just such an action (i.e. self-defense). The fact that these situations involve "justified" killing doesn't mean someone wasn't killed. What information is that? Obama has provided evidence that he was born in Hawaii. What evidence do you have that he was born somewhere else? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

While I'm not a member of the KKK or the Aryan Nations, it still puts him in league with me. I have a tough time imagining a valid argument that establishes hiring decisions based on race are not racist in nature. Whether you give someone a job or deprive them of a job, if you make the decision based on their race, it's a racist decision. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

-Whoever the I is had no damn business chiming in anything while somebody is trying to teach. Bullshit. There are proper and improper ways to do it, but NOT chiming in when something is being taught incorrectly would be the worst option. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" What shred of evidence do you have the Obama was born somewhere other than Hawaii? Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Gonna call me on it, eh? Ok, fine. I'll do it tonight - I WILL black out any info that could be used for identity theft purposes, of course. Not gonna be stupid, you know. Gosh, you're lucky. I don't even have an original birth certificate. Mine's an "altered copy." Same here, and if I ask the county for another, they're not gonna give me the original, but rather another copy. Or care what you think of us. What trully surprises me (or at least used to) is the arogant indignation they have with anybody that dares disagree with them I think they are wrong, they think we are not only wrong but stupid, uneducated and evil and place labels and names to kill debate. Hell, the post Amazon has here is a prefect example. My best friend is a die-hard Republican and we have animated debates all the time. I don't consider lawrocket, rehmwa, or tomaiello to be the least bit stupid or uneducated, and there are very few here who I would consider "evil". For me, it's all about the arguments. Cogent arguments that are well supported by fact and/or a clear discussion of founding beliefs can be polar opposites of mine without being stupid. But unsupported leaps of logic that are only made in favor of one political ideology are frequently and resoundingly dumb. Such arguments appear frequently in Speaker's Corner, authored by supporters of Democrats and Republicans alike. Fortunately it's a select few who exclusively make such arguments; most people here only stray that way occasionally. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

Does Barack know any clergy who aren't racist?

Mentioning the colors black, brown, red, and white does not make a statement racist. It seems more inclusive than exclusive to me. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
Check out the crowd in this satellite picture...zoom in, then pan back & forth. There are so many people that they look like insect colonies. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2009/44.president/inauguration/mall.satellite/ Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

The satellite image of the crowd is kind of creepy. Zoom all the way in, then pan right to left...there are enough people to resemble insect colonies. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2009/44.president/inauguration/mall.satellite/ Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

What do you do when you realize your life is completely fucked?

I usually kill myself. KIDDING! If I killed myself, I wouldn't be her to say that! I freak out, get down on myself, then get back to work. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -
A *little* long?! I've yet to make it all the way through it without falling asleep (of course I quit trying years ago). Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

If your dog chases skydivers like cars, lock it the F$@% up!
livendive replied to Iago's topic in The Bonfire
I work 5 days a week at a "real" job, and 6 months out of the year I work the other 2 days of the week at the DZ. Boarding my dog for my only two days "off" per week is a non-starter, so instead she goes to the DZ. During jumping operations, she is either tethered outside my RV, crated inside my RV, or on a leash being walked. When jumping operations are over for the day, most or all parachutes up off the floor, and any kind of "banquet" food put away, I let her roam. Being able to run on a 60 acre airport is good exercise for her, and having her with me is good for both of us. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone or damage any equipment, I fail to see the problem. Additionally, any different approach I can think of would have poorer results all around. Blues, Dave "I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew) -

I agree with most of what you're saying. Dogs shouldn't be allowed to roam during flight operations, shouldn't be allowed near parachutes if they have any inclination to damage them, shouldn't be allowed near other people if there's any indication that they will bite, and should be cleaned up after.
