I don't know if you would consider them rituals, but I have things that I am weird about. I always wear the same shoes. I tried wearing different shoe on like my 10th jump, but I was too nervous to jump in different shoes. And I have to eat a mint...I use to smoke so the mints now replace that action.

Hurloon - I started a diet a year ago this month. My objective was to get to 200 so I could go do a tandem. I didn't think that it would actually happen...been on so my diets, etc. My starting weight was 276. On May 19th, I did my first tandem. I worked my ass off, literally, to get there. It was one of the proudest moments in my life. I lost the weight by myself without surgery, just a ton of running. After my first tandem I knew that it was something I loved. I signed up for an AFF course and haven't looked back. Skydiving has changed my life. The way I look at everything is so much different now. Keep up the great work. Your reward of your first tandem is worth it....plus the healthier lifestyle is great!

It sounds like FL is going to be the best place for me. I just worry about traveling so far on my own. The time frame I was looking at is right after Christmas. I read some where that Z-Hills has a Christmas boogie. That sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

I was planning on making a trip down to Florida in the winter with a couple of friends to go skydiving. That trip has been cancelled due to injuries. I still want to go so I'll be making the trip by myself. I'm a new jumper and am worried about all the new jumper things. (i.e. will I be able to find people to jump with) Any recommendations as to where to go…it doesn’t have to be Florida, just somewhere warm?

Towerrat....natures jerky....that is too funny! Seriously had me laughing out loud at work. Thanks!

Surprisingly...I am not in the same situation as you. I must have balanced out the water - alcohol ratio last night. I am sleepy beyond belief, but not hungover. I will be proud of myself if I make it til noon. Lets start thinking of excuses for me to escape.

Come on now...it was a funny thread title. And I think he is kind of cute....so I encourage the "pikey" bastard. -

How many times have you moved in the last 10 years?
kootmando1979 replied to davedlg's topic in The Bonfire
2 times... 2001 - Out of my parents house to my own house in Caldwell ID 2006 - Caldwell ID - Boise ID for a different house I am selling that house now. Don't really know what my plan is. But I didn't really go through the early 20's in the normal fashion. Now I just want to travel for a bit and see where I settle. -
So true. I will rephrase my first comment. Dang it! Why are some of the good site blocked from work? I am still waiting for the day that they block this site. I do think that might be the day I walk out of here. A girl needs to sit and pass the time by reading posts on dz.com. What else am I suppose to do?

Lose over 100 lbs. -
Thank you everyone for the responses. I will try to start with swimming and then move on to cycling. I am just a bit frustrating.

That is too funny! Thanks for making my day at work more enjoyable!

I am really going nuts already. I went out to the dz on Thursday night (fun jumps), Saturday and Sunday. I dont know what else to do with my weekends. Floating the Boise sounds like a good idea though. I will try and get a group together this weekend. I cant believe that I am going to have to sit out the rest of the summer. Everyone says its good because I will be ready for snowboarding, but I HATE winter.

Up in Lost Prairie I had a bad landing that resulted in a partially torn MCL and a bad bone bruise on my tibia. The doctor said 3-4 months of no activity other than necessary walking. He is mainly worried about the bone bruise. Does anyone have any suggestions to speed up the healing process? It is driving me crazy not doing anything.

Thank you so much for sharing those pictures! I can't wait to show my family where I jumped while I was at Lost Prairie. They aren't going to believe how beautiful it is there.

Lost Prairie 2007 40th Anniversary Boogie
kootmando1979 replied to Amazon's topic in Events & Places to Jump
This was my first boogie...and it was everything I expected and more. I cant believe how cool it was to have that many skydivers in one place at one time. The friends that I went with said that I experienced everything that is the boogie in the first day that I was there. It was such an amazing weekend. I don't think that I have ever met so many awesome people. I just wish that I had stood up my first landing there instead of messing up my knee. Oh well, there is always next year. I won't be missing out anymore! Thank you to everyone!!! It was the best weekend of my life!!!! -
When to say enough is enough

I have to tell you about my plane fears. When I was going through AFF my first 6 jumps were so hard. My fear of the plane was unbelievable. To begin with I don't like to fly, even in commercial planes. At my dz we have a 182...the small plane scared the daylights out of me. My fear was that I was going to die from the plane crashing. My AFFI would try and calm me down, but I was in a different ball park as soon as I got on the plane. I took a week off and came back with a different attitude. My attitude was that if it was my time to go then it was my time to go. (Which is my same attitude with skydiving) Once I worked that out in my head my jumps got so much better. I don't have the extreme anxiety. Don't get me wrong...I still pretty much hold my breath until 1,000 ft. -
Do you have a favorite time of day to jump?
kootmando1979 replied to ttoy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I love the sunset loads. I always try to get on those. Last night the sunset was really red because of all the smoke we have here in Idaho. I need to get on a sunrise load though. I am sure I would love it.
