  1. I have one (1) jump on a G3... fogged up so badly I could barely see. Also, since I hadn't practiced it on the ground (silly me), I couldn't get the visor to flip up.
  2. But wouldn't that be... exercising said right?
  3. +1. I was given one by someone who upgraded to a lighter model. Big enough for rig, helmet, jumpsuit, shoes, and will survive even airline luggage handling.
  4. I've landed a big, slow 270sqft student canopy on rear risers, brakes unstowed. It was hard bordering on impossible to steer, it was so heavy. I don't think I could have managed a 270 deg turn in a reasonable amount of time. I imagine leaving the brakes stowed would not make it any easier to steer.
  5. FWIW I've thought about this too, and will not jump in a hoodie. I have enough clothes so I don't need to.
  6. Quote That seems more closely related to santanism Have faith, for He will once again walk among us mere mortals come December.
  7. I don't mind the wind. Getting kicked in the face is another thing. My jaw was sore for a week after eating someone's boot on exit. I bet I would have enjoyed it even less without my Factory Diver.
  8. Hear hear. Used to drive a 924 - loved it. Funnily enough, the people who think they know what a "real" Porsche is, or should be, usually haven't ever owned a Porsche of any description.
  9. Not sure what it was like when you were there but Caboolture does just about no tandems at all. Focus is AFF with a little S/L thrown in sometimes Sounds like he went to Willowbank instead of Caboolture; the latter is not really known for running the Skyvan.
  10. If it can be shown that the business engaged in fraud, the directors can be held personally responsible, Pty Ltd notwithstanding.
  11. I'll be in Finland for all of August. Any boogies or other skydiving events happening? I already know of and plan to go to the Comp Air Boogie.
  12. Done 200 jumps on a Sabre2 @ WL 1.5, haven't had end cell closure once.
  13. The door is fine once it's open, it means it's playtime. It's the closed door that gives me the s***s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCyt-sIMym0
  14. You mean like these? (Sorry for the s&^*ty photo.)
  15. This may not help if the helmet does not fit your head properly... in which case you probably shouldn't be jumping it in the first place, of course. I demoed M and L sized Cookie G2s recently and had issues with fogging. Unfortunately the XL wasn't available. Since neither was a proper fit (both sat comfortably on my head, the M was a squeeze though), my mouth wasn't aligned with the holes on the front. Just something to think about when trying new headgear.
  16. I have a hard time seeing how that could happen, at least the way I pack anyway. If the lines are right before the canopy goes into the bag, you would have to flip the bag and thread the bridle and pilot chute through the lines in order to get a full inversion step through. It would take some pretty funky packing methods to do that by accident. But then idiots are pretty frickin ingenious sometimes so who knows. I was that ingenious idiot on jump #49. As a result, I am now extra careful about not getting distracted between doing the final stow and placing the D-bag in the tray.
  17. A stepthrough maybe? I packed myself one once. Heaps of line twists, kicked out of them, was more than a little bit surprised to see the risers twisted around themselves. A line check will not help if you do the stepthrough when the canopy is already in the bag, as I did. As I recall, I put the bag down to do something else, when I returned, I must have spun the bag around the lines when I picked it up and finished in a hurry to make the sunset load, etc etc you know the drill. Had
  18. What he said. Here's a photo of a stupid thing I did while unstowing brakes a while ago. Didn't much like it - chopped it. Still trying to figure out how I managed to do it.
  19. Do it. Shade is best but if you're in the sun, just do it reasonably quick. There's another hazard to deal with when packing in the sun... getting sunburned. Happened to me at a boogie a while ago
  20. Most confirmed kills flying a P-51: 24 (George Preddy, USAAF) Most confirmed kills flying a Brewster Buffalo: 39 (Hans Wind, Finnish Air Force)
  21. Doesn't apply to me, coz I gots mad skillz.
  22. Heaps. Queensland is a big place though, can you be a bit more specific? Off the top of my head I can think of at least 5 dropzones within 2 hours of Brisbane, not including tandem-only operations.
  23. I was on a few loads with two skysurfers just two weeks ago. In my experience, the coolest thing whuffos think you could possibly do skydiving is jumping through cloud. Back to the original subject (and to echo what wolfriverjoe said re: "recording for tandems"): if there's no footage, it didn't happen.
