  1. Comparing the Mixed Martial Arts such as UFC with a sport like boxing is like comparing apples with oranges. (*The moral of the rest of this post is that an Orange will kick an Apples ass everytime but I still prefer apple pie to orange juice - so no read to read any further) Sure they are both a contact sports but the UFC guys will win everytime. I am a boxing fan but do respect the UFC stuff when I watch it. You never hear people compare a UFC fight with Olympic Judo or Kickboxing. The sports are just different - UFC will win every time because they have more resources at their disposal. (kicks, leg sweeps, grappling AND punches that are not even within the rules of boxing, Judo or kickboxing). UFC mixes those three disciplines (and then some) together and says Go Get em' Mayweather is a prettyboy loudmouth. If you look back at his career some of the soap operas he has been involved in have been less than professional. However, I like to watch the guy box because like it or not he is one of the best the sport has seen. The fact is that top boxers are in absolute top shape and I could not survive 3 minutes in the ring throwing punches without throwing up. Boxing is a sport.. its an art and its awsome to watch when its a good fight. UFC I guess is probably the same way I just don't know all the players and its never grabbed my attention. The rules of the two sports are different - its tough to compare them. It drives me nuts when the UFC types and the boxers try and do it. If anyone should know better its them. Then again someone above (I can't go back an see now) mentioned that its marketing. Hes right on the money. Mayweather runs his mouth and I sit here and type his name over and over... Boxing is a dying sport. Boxing gyms are less common. Unfortunate because bodyweight exercises, minimal equipment and a coach is all you need to train. Boxing would be well served to promote BOXING and worry less about comparing themselves to UFC.
  2. Mayweather is gonna take this one I think. I am not a big Mayweather fan but the guy has a serious set of wheels... fast as hell.
  3. Star Wars Trilogy (Han shot first) Lost Boys (made me want to be a vampire before goth was cool) All of the Rocky Movies (eating raw eggs worked better for him than it did for me) Karate Kid movies were cool
  4. Life is strange. About 7 or 8 years ago I decided to try my hand at the AFF course at Skydive New England. I think I did 4 or 5 jumps before I ran out of time, money and good weather. Shortly thereafter I met my wife and since had two young boys. My skydiving aspirations went on the backburner. Several months ago I was cleaning out my garage and came across my AFF manual and very short log book. I was in the "get rid of all life's clutter" mode and threw both out figuring I would never skydive again... I tossed the logbook in the trash. Whats weird is coming across that stuff led my thoughts back to my AFF class and jumps. Then came surfing the net for more info, talking to friends at work and even checking out some podcasts. Now I fear have been bitten once again by the skydive bug. Looks like I may try to complete my AFF course this summer if all goes well and finances fall into place. Anyone else here from the central Maine area?
