Scotty's says "thats ok Mark I'll give you some man-love when I get back home" EEEEEK EWWWWW Tami

We would fly cross-wind often at pahokee. Rule of thumb was north/south or south/north jumpruns. East/West jumpruns would have put us out over the water "cross wind" better idea! One Word "Alligators" hee-hee Tami

Z-Hills in the only place that I know that puts Freeflyers out first. I dont like it at all for the obvious reasons . I simply ask for pilot for a go-around to ensure clear air and just go with the flow. Go-Arounds work for me but cost the DZ more ! I do however understand the canopy speed issues! But I think exit orders do not properly address canopy speed conflicts. Two Word.....Landing Pattern. If you want to do a down-wind landing....get out LOW! Just my thoughts. Tami

Chest strap save on load, How common is this?

I was going to get cerified for scuba and the instructor knew that I had asthma and said I would have to get a release from the doctor before class! I have found that snorkling actually helps my asthma...."smooth steady breathing I guess" ! Tami

On the flip side.... if it weren’t for the mass media attention, the SICK FUCKER may not have been caught and Carlie’s body may not have been found! My godson (16 years old) was car-jacked and murdered about 6 years ago !!! The police did not act on him being missing because they said he was most likely a 16-year-old run-away If it had NOT been for the media getting involved on how it was being handled by the police so poorly Jimmy might not have EVER been found. They (the media) interviewed family, friends, teachers and so on regarding how this child who was actively involved with: Math Tutoring Grade School, Eagle Scouts, Part Time Job, Church Volunteer Work...you know all -n- all GOOD KID! The police DID start a hard-core investigation only AFTER the media constantly broadcasted such community outrage. Jimmy’s time a death was determined to be 2 days after abduction. If the police would have started a thorough investigation earlier “before” the media/community pressured them he might have been found alive!! The media helped in alerting many local and not local communities with regards to all the details surrounding him being missing. Due to media efforts and information received because of media broadcast, the two FUCKERS who killed him were arrested. Jimmy’s body was found 2 weeks after abduction. All I am trying to get across here it that sometimes what appears to be ugly isn’t. Although the media attention was uncomfortable and for the most part brutal after he was found…. it was understandable!! I do feel for the family of Carlie and invasion of their privacy, it sucks. But let’s face it we all watch the news for a reason. I personally was not sick and tired of the broadcasting and kept the TV on hoping for news on this poor child! Edited to add a "NOT" debating (in the sentence below). Please do not challenge me on this I am NOT debating anyone’s opinion. I am just expressing my FEELINGS and from another perspective. This bullshit is scary. Don’t ever think, “these things only happen to other people”! Carlie and her family probably thought the same thing. Please love each other and yourself as though there was no tomorrow. Sorry for the long story but these sick and sad storied always hit close to home and make me so sad and so confused as tot "WHY"..."WHY DOES THIS SHIT HAPPEN"! Tami

Hello Jake....You are awesome!!!! It makes me so happy when I hear newbie's becoming an "INFORMED" Skydiver ""Keep Reading""....""Keep Asking Questions""....I agree with Dave here>>> right down any questions you have so you remember them next time your at the DZ. Please dont depend on anyone but your ""INSTRUCTOR"" to give you the correct answer "this same rule is in effect after your off student status". Always ask a rated skydiver for advise. YOU ROCK Tami

Chest strap save on load, How common is this?
carbonezone replied to skydonkey's topic in Safety and Training
Many - Many people do check others gear in the plane. I know I certainly do. But the bottom line here skydonkey "dont count on anyone but yourself...even as a student"!! Asking people to gear check you is GREAT! Getting geared up should be thought of as the first part of your skydive. You know all that muscle memory stuff your hearing....Get into the habit of the right safety steps and it will become natural: 1. Check Gear Before You Put It On 2. Check Gear Before You Get On The Plane 3. Check Gear "Before" Jumprun As long as you keep doing this is will just come natural before every jump "its so easy" Almost 1000 Jumps and thats my process and always will be! To answer your ? regarding how often I have caught chest straps mis-routed....4X And Have Fun!!! Tami -

new helmet for head down avil.
carbonezone replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Geez you kids think its tough out there huh.. Test jumping parachutes was only half the battle.... Then they starting dropping me on my head to test Head-Gear! There is a reason why I still wear funny little helmet "this particular helmet made my head permanently shaped like a CONE" I was also a lot taller before those jumps too! -
Skydiving is one of the safest risky sports
carbonezone replied to pkasdorf's topic in Safety and Training
Hey Dorf...Scotty is not here so I can only speak for myself. Asking if it is safer than other Risky Sports is a difficult question. I really dont participate in other "high risk activities" other than being married to Scotty I can only say that if you adhere to all standard operation procedures regarding skydiving you are a "Safer Skydiver". That same mindset (adhering to SOP's) can make you a safer Rock Climber, Scuba Diver and so on..... Ya know what I mean Jelly-Bean Tami -

Scotty's Vote = NO (not safe) Tamie's Vote = NO (not safe) I dare all of you as instructors or gonna be / wanna be instructors...those of you who want to make a living at this and to be held accountable for others to say "THIS IS A SAFE SPORT"!!! I double dare you! I want to hear how you answer an injured parties family when they ask "you told me it was safe go ahead and jump". Better have a GOOD Lawyer -
Hey Rky, I will be here Look for the women with a 3 legged wonderdog named hercules...or my jumpsuit has "LANDING GEAR" embroidered on the butt. Give me a shout if you see me! Solo's ?? Plenty of people to jump with here! ' Tami
