  1. Great post, here are a few quotes about my beloved sport you might appreciate (can you tell it's a really slow day at work?): "It's always further than it looks. It's always taller than it looks. And it's always harder than it looks." The 3 rules of mountaineering Rockclimbing.com Spray #18 "We are climbers. We climb BECAUSE it's difficult, we climb BECAUSE of the danger, because of the adventure, because of the risk.In fact, it's BECAUSE of the risk and danger that the REWARD of climbing is so great" "You have to think with your body. Every move has to be worked out in terms of playing chess with you body. If I make a mistake the consequences are immediate, obvious, embarrassing, and possibly painful. For a brief period I am directly responsible for my actions. In that beautiful, silent, world of mountains, it seems to me worth a little risk" - A.Alvarez "Climb if you will, but remember that courage & strength Are not without prudence. And that a momentary negligence may destroy A happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste. Look well to each step and from the beginning, Think what may be the end." -F
  2. Yeah, he really is a climber. Look for any of his posts on RC, the man is a walking encyclopedia of practical knowledge. I did read your sig, and I agree, that is why I think all the bitching and moaning is actually a good thing. "I will not go calmly into the light..." kinda thing. -F
  3. I was waiting for your welcome! Was actually starting to get offended because you hadn't said hi. I came over to make nice however, I even started with an apology, so here, first round is on me . -F No need to apologise. You did nothing wrong. I've got realllllly thick skin. I like it over there. There is NO FLUFF! I wanna be a climber now. But I've got to get rid of my beer belly from skydiving. Common misconception. This will help clear things up! The guy in the picture is a brutus of wyde, an amazing climber and a great guy too. -F

  5. Don't get too bogged down with trying to feel ready. There is no substitute for the real thing, and you can be safe out there without having too much experience as long as you have the right people with you. Lacy nomex is sexy, you might want to try it. -F
  6. Good point, that is exactly what I was hoping to convey here. The emots usually help, but these ones are laaaame. -F
  7. Hi all, I feel my posts might have offended some people, and I just wanted to clarify a few things. My posts that have been quoted here were taken out of context (or the context wasn't clear when I posted). I took that thread to be a harmless exercise in verbal fencing with no thought to sticking to reality or being even remotely accurate. This was definitely the case for most RCers and I thought it was the case for most of you guys as well (I hope you wouldn't consider climbing with a monkey as a partner ) Maybe it was dealing with pissed of users all week, caffeine deficiency, the fact that one of your users managed to really get under my skin by attacking one of our regulars or just BLO syndrome, but if I offended anybody I do sincerely apologize. FWIW, I posted on RC that my family has a lot of jumpers in it, and that I would love to try it out someday. I meant that. -F
