  1. Well I just got home from work............after stopping and drinking a six. I think that I just had the hardest day I have ever had. I took an oral board with the royal family (upper managment) today for a control room operator job at the power plant I work at. Mostly technical questions ( what it is and how it works kinda stuff), but they threw in 12 or 15 you are the supervisor what if questions...............I think that they are just psychological type questions, ya know just to hear your response. Well when I was done with this 4 hour ordeal they told me that they would let me know friday how I did................but within 30 minutes they called me back in the office and offered me the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was floored! I think that I will drink heavily for at least 3 more hours and grab the wife and knock the bottom out to celebrate. Sorry just had to post it, I am in to good of a mood right now!!!!!!!
  2. I've been looking for one but have yet been able to find one. Radio shack used to sell one under there name but they do not carry it any more.
  3. Ya know that there are already several good videos out there, the guys at Air Ohio made a good one about a year ago.
  4. I think this is where doctors are just practicing......there is no borderline, kinda-sorta, or middle ground, if you ask any endocrenologist your either diabetic or your not, being overweight does affect glucose levels but I would'nt say that your diabetic.
  5. miligrams per deciliter. and as far as the pump goes, I am very active also, and it is the best thing since sliced bread!!
  6. I think that it's pretty poular opinion that if a student has a question you should always refer them to there instructor. Sharing stories at he end of the day is one thing, and yes it is hard to bite your tounge sometimes but it is for the students benifit.
  7. Well I am a type 1, and I was diagnosed in 2000, I have been jumping since 1997. I took a few months off but more because when it was diagnosed my glucose was >750, and it was really hard to control. I switched to a pump 2 years ago and it makes all of the difference, I went from the controlled diet to eating what I want and when I want, and yes I drink (alcohol) just not like I used to but I have been know to get enebriated. I do wear my pump under my jumpsuit, but will take it off if I don't wear one, $6000 worth of medical equipment is no easily replaceible. As far as being grounded I would get a letter from your doctor and carry it with you to other dz's. Now if you are on injections I would recommend that you let your blood suger run a little high when you jump (150-175mg/dl) cause I am sure you know what it's like when it gets low and that sucks on jump run!!! I would also recommend an aad if you do not have one, I don't as of yet mainly due to the cost. That's my 2 cents but I am interested to hear from others and share some advise concerning jumping with diabetes.
  8. The seller is in puerto rico. Which may be why it not showing up in the database.
  9. That would be correct, the juicce is not stepped down until it hits that little step down transformer on the pole in front of your house.
  10. They should be a big consideration!! I would always opt for an open field rather than a street. Those damn lines are invisible usually until it's to late, and I'm sure if you read back through the incident reports there are quite a few..........initiated a low turn to avoid power lines statements. I am a control room operator at a large power plant and have had to sit through alot of training classes that show very graphic pictures of what happens to people when they tangle with power lines. So yes I am a little lerry of electricity but along the same lines if you are familure with the area surronding the d.z. you should have a few good outs in mind. ....sorry for rambling...........
  11. u.s. navy............5 years............boiler tech, highest annual salery in the navy $18,500. annual salery 1st year out.........$52,000. I'm all about serving your country but the pay sucks!
  12. P.D. has no buisness selling him that canopy!
  13. If you live in florida, land of the BLUE HAIR, it is more dangerous to drive to the d.z. than it is to jump!!!
  14. Save yourself alot of headache in the future and pull a seperate line just for the a/c, and the heater. You'll never use them both at the same time so a 20a circuit should surfice. What is the main box, ( square d, cutler hammer?) If it's a pg&e I would upgrade it, with a pacific gas and electric box you can weld with a regular 110v breaker and it will never trip.
  15. Coaching class? Are you instructing students or are you in a coaches coarse? Besides you should have a copy of the IRm, and the SIM, right?
  16. DC-9..................I am slobering on my keyboard!!
  17. {quote}As always, I know the best place for advice on this is my instructor and the next time I see one of them I will ask, but since they are in a different state it may be a while.{quote} I think that at your currant level of progression, you answered your own question!
  18. I don't look at ads, or who is usings who's gear. Also I agree that these full page ads in parachutist are a waste of money. If you want to sell me a rig, send me a demo.
  19. I had the rib completely rip out on my stilletto on a hop and pop, P.D. said that it probley started as a small tear at the cross port that went unnoticed. So a small $ repair turned into $400. I would not jump it until it is fixed!
  20. I don't see Skydive Palatka on your list. I guess since it's a vote, that's my write in!
  21. Well, remember that you get what you pay for. If you add $300 to the price of that you can get a sony-trv D8, the p.c.'s are more but worth the money.
  22. Did the hemet origionaly have a flat top? Or did you do some fancy fibreglass work.
  23. Winter breaks, what is that???? Here in sunny florida there is no break!
