  1. So all instances where the actions of one individual end the life of another is murder? While the punishment should fit the crime we have to remember the other (and greater) point is to ensure the safety of society while rehabilitating the perpetrator. After all, punishment alone doesn't stop recidivism. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  2. So all prisoners are innocent? Maybe we should not only get rid of the death penalty but get rid of the entire judicial system ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  3. I'm currently more concerned with this type of state sponsored murder. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  4. I agree. However, this thread is implying that two systems are equal because they have a similar event even though the event is contained in different processes for each system. I doubt it makes much difference to the dead person convicted on questionable evidence. I doubt anything makes a difference to a dead person. Do you also doubt this makes a difference to all the living people being charged on questionable evidence? "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  5. No, but since you are about to execute a man where there is serious doubt about his guilt, this may not be the right argument. Just because no system is perfect does not mean that one system is not better than another system. Well, just so long as it's better than another system makes everything fine. Just about the clearest statement I've ever heard in support of moral relativism. Maybe we should apply that standard to all our activities. Did I say it makes it fine? No. There you go putting words in my mouth. Aren't you the one always complaining about other people putting words in your mouth? By the way, if that was the clearest statement in support of moral relativism than you've made some clear statements in support of banning firearms. Buy a dictionary, you are using words you clearly don't understand. Blah, blah, blah ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  9. You like rockets. China, Iran, Iraq, USA, and Pakistan like rockets ... what great company you're in. Wow, that's a really good excuse for killing people. You think liking rockets is a really good excuse for killing people? PS: Do all those countries have the same judicial system? No. Ummm - YOU brought rockets into the thread. If you want to persist with your non-sequiturs, be my guest. This entire thread is a non-sequitur. Well, you didn't have to introduce rockets into a thread about the death penalty. Place the blame where it's due, on yourself. How is this entire thread being a non-sequitur my fault? You created this thread. Place the blame on yourself. As far as rockets ... I think it fits nicely in this thread. After all, rockets have killed innocent people. You use rockets. China, Iran, Iraq, USA, and Pakistan use rockets. What great company you're in. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

  16. Where did I call him an asshole? He made a statement that contradicted the religion that he preaches ... I didn't call him an asshole for this statement, I implied he was being hypocritical. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  17. There is a difference between views that don't line up conveniently and not practicing what you preach. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  18. I'm not "bashing" his idea, I'm "bashing" him because his idea doesn't align with his preaching. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  19. So send them all your money. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  20. When doubt, whip the children out ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  21. I've reached a point where I doubt that the tearful mother is real. Bring in the facts and leave the emotions at the door ... "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  22. If you want to be the President of the United States of America then don't pass this stuff along. Of course she didn't make a conclusion, she's a politician, she made a statement and after determining it was the wrong statement she made a second statement to try to correct the first statement. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
  23. It's always been compromised. Are you ready for this weekend because I got a new shirt that is going to make me even faster! "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
