How many AFF jumps did it take you???
lespaul980 replied to live2dive's topic in Safety and Training
i recently finished mine in 7 jumps, but from talking to other people at the dz it really does vary. so keep trying. -
someone on the plane mentioned that it looked like i was focusing too much on taking deep breaths and he thought that i was causing myself to hyperventilate. he recommended that i try coming up with a dive flow before jumping so i have something else to think about on the plane. thanks for the advice.

About 3 weeks ago I finished up AFF and got cleared to self supervise in freefall. The following week I made my first solo dive from a CASA (we normally jump from an Otter), and as I was going to make a second jump I got very nauseous and light headed on the plane. I decided to ride the plane back down. Yesterday I went back to jump (again from a CASA) and the same thing happened at about 12,000 feet. My instructors think I should try making a fun jump with one of them next time just to help build confidence, but I was wondering if there's any thing else I can do to help prevent this. I generally don't eat much on days I jump. I'm just very frustrated right now. I'd appreciate any advice.

I appreciate all the input. At the suggestion of my instructors, I just stepped off the edge of the door and floated down. I was going to attempt a superman exit the second time around, but for some reason I got really nauseaus and light-headed on the way up to altitude and just ended up riding the plane down. Oh well, I'll just have to wait til next time.

I got cleared for making solo jumps last weekend and was planning on making my first solo this weekend. We usually jump from a Twin Otter but this weekend there's going to be a CASA at the DZ. Is there anything I need to know about jumping from a CASA or is it basically the same?

I'm pretty new to the sport and I was just wondering, what is a step-through?

i recently did my first tandem jump. when the instructor opened the parachute, i felt a little lighted-headed and nauseous for about the first minute. my instructor loosened my leg straps and told me to wiggle around and i felt a lot better. i'm taking my first aff class this saturday and i'm a little nervous of experiencing the same feeling and passing out. should i be concerned about this? my instructor said that flying under your own canopy is a lot more comfortable. i appreciate the feedback.
