Mine was a 26' cheapo with a 5 TU cut .Put about 300 jumps on it before PC's came along.Along the way had it further modified with a french cut and derry slots.At 180 pounds a good plf every time was a must.Loved jumping, hated landings on that thing.

Question for old time riggers. Need info on security reserve DOM 1972. This canopy is in pristine condition and has passed all inspections and tests.It has the blank gores but no netting. the data panel say's steerable but it has no steering lines. There is a line on each each rear riser that is dyed red for about 3" from the riser connections.It has no diaper.Is it prone to inversions with no netting? After extensive research and a lot of questions I find that there is no servie life on reserves ( other than a couple of manufactuers that put a 15 yr life on their reserves) and if it is in good condition and pass's all mandated tests and inspections it can be packed,it's up to the rigger But like the man say's "There's the widow and jury thing". I would appreciate any thoughts,info or comments I can get on this issue .

Get an old timer who knows how to spot chunk a WDI while you are on the ground,watch the WDI,see where it lands and your spot is the same distance in the opposite direction.You can't chunk a WDI from an Otter yourself and keep up with it until it lands unless you can get the pilot to do a tight orbit over the landing area which is not likely on a full load.Go to altitude,why screw around? Pull at about 3500 ft,set up at at a chest high attitude before you pull. If the PC is sleeved you will get a really quick solid opening,if it is in a pod you will get a damn quick opening and may see stars.Play around with it,practice with the rear risers to see how it reacts.Experienced PC jumpers use a hook turn to land, but for you land into the wind. About 4 ft above the ground pull the rear risers as far as you can.Prepare to plf but don,t be surprised if you stand it up. Just jump the damn thing !!

It would appear that your ex-friend suffers from a case of "Little Man Syndrome" They go through life with their noses at the same level as other peoples armpits, always smelling underarm body odor. This coupled with the fact that the have to look up to every body gives them an inferiority complex for which the compensate by being complete assholes and mad at the world.Now take a midget whose nose is at crotch level to everyone else and you have someone with the same attitude compounded by a factor of ten. Makes them really surly little buggers. So this makes them fair game in being used as projectiles for our amusement and sport.It is my observation that midget tossing is more prevelent in the skydiving community than in any other part of society. Must be some primal need we have.So, lets go toss a midget!!

I remember that from the ground you heard a pretty good crack when a PC opened at terminal but I never heard it when I opened.Sounds like you jumped at the same kind of DZ I did but not only did we put flour in some unsuspecting persons canopy we were known to throw in a couple of handsfull of pea gravel. In this day and time no one would see the humor in that.Probably get you thrown off the DZ.I miss the good old days.

Hey, I know that midget.We tryed to train him also. He never could get it right. We told him to take up bowling. I guess he was making the rounds of the DZ's hoping someone would help him out.

Poor little bastard. What a way to go! We used to launch them with water melon chunking ballista's. We felt a little bad about the way the slamed in with a MA-1 so we started using tandem drouge's.Quite a few started surviving after that.

I donno about the 1:1 on a 37 footer Those little buggers are barrel chested and solid! One in good shape can be 50 to 60 pounds.Their stubby little bowed legs are like fence posts and all muscle.Or is that dwarfs I'm thinking of? I never could tell the difference,they all look alike to me. ya seen one ya seen em all. If anyone can explain the difference between a dwarf and a midget please let me know. I tried to Google it and got nowhere.

I've heard of this also. The word I get is that some less than honest individual who has a hole in the wall operation about 100 miles east of L.A out in the desert consisting of a ramshackle hanger and an old U6-A placed an ad in a LA paper for midgets that could skydive for an upcoming movie and said he would train them to skydive and get them a part in the movie for a fee. Apparently he was inundated with little people who are camped out in his hanger, for which he is charging a fee over and above what their cost is for skydiving training. There probobly won't be a movie but there is certainly going to be a lot of tiny skydivers coming into the sport.

Are you aware that there is actually midget tossing competition. I know a guy that participates in it ( as a tosser) He said it is really catching on but is still underground due to the fear of the liberal media catching hold of it and causing a stir.

I have not but I know a jumper that say's he has back in the day.Said they had three of them that frequented his DZ when the circus was in town.He said they could crank turns really fast because they were so short and had a surprisingly fast fall rate. Apparently they had little teeny B4 rigs that had been cut down and jumped Piglets. He said they stood them up every time but were always short of the landing area because they liked long spots.I don't think they should be refered to as midgets. They like to be called "Little People"

Amen Brother. I still have several PC's that I jump on occasion.I can't quite tear myself away from the way it was back then. It's just not the same anymore. I guess I'm just a dinasour,extinct and don't know it.

Dumb enough? Hell, the PC was a Cadillac.We thought we had died and gone to heaven when it came out in 1964. Prior to that we used Cheapo's( 26ft surplus rounds with either a 5 or 7 TU cut into them.) Thats when wdi's,spoting and plf,s were a must. No, we were not dumb,we loved to jump and that's what we had. It is my firm belief that the vast majority of current day jumpers would,nt be jumpers if they had to use the gear we had available back then.

Use a "Hotshot" It has a spring that will bounce it off the cieling.
