  1. I have never had a tandem passenger so freaked that I could not talk them out the door. I have had one AFF student on level IV that balked one time, but I talked him out on the go-around and he had a perfect skydive. Later in the day, he completely balked when we were moving towards the door on his level V. I actually had to ride the plane down that time. I have had maybe four SL students in the past 15 years who balked and had to ride the plane down. Chuck
  2. You will be fine under that 135 assuming you practice good common sense. Cobalts fly big and at that wingload and I doubt you will sense hardly any differences in the speed of that and the Sabre 150 you have been jumping. As for the one-word response left by the inexperienced last poster: get a grip. Chuck
  3. Second tip: make sure your goddamn lower control lines are not five inches longer on one side than the other! Yes. Nathan's lower control lines are that far out of whack. Chuck
  4. Am I missing something, or did Wendy say she was picking up the girls? I thought Wendy was picking me, mouth, etc. up. Chuck
  5. I have to tell you that I have never found an electric razor that gave me a satisfactory shave. I have found some that get close enough, but only after many, many repeated passes. In other words, it was not worth the greatly drawn out time it took to get that smooth shave. I can shave closer in one fifth the time with a Mach III and be out the fucking door. I hate to waste unneccessary time in the morning on stuff like that; preferring instead to sleep as late as possible and bolt out the door. Now, if you are wanting an electric so that you can do the same, and just shave on the way to work, then maybe it's worth it to you. Personally, though, I don't want to be distracted like that when I am driving. Chuck
  6. Ramon, I tried to call Eric all day yesterday and didn't get any answer. Tell that monkey lip to give me a call ASAP. Chuck
  7. NWS01= Nathan. SkymonkeyONE= Chuck SlotPerfect= John
  8. It must be noted that the canopy in the photo is a 95 and is being jumped by Eric Butts, over 260 out the door (you do the math). He lands it to a complete stop without taking a step. I get it next. I plan on wearing whatever lead it takes to try wingloads from 1.8 to 2.3. The Onyx is a nine-cell planform. This canopy is the second prototype. Chuck
  9. No, I don't think Chrissie has registered. I saw her about a week ago at SeaMonkey's going away party.
  10. OK, here is the unfortunate poop: I talked to Kim at BirdMan yesterday and she told me that she didn't have any demo suits to send me. It seems the majority of the demo fleet are still in California with various people. What this means is that we will be limited in our ability to get everyone trained. I am bringing both of my suits and my training video, etc. I would ask every other registered member here to bring every suit they have, so that we can increase the flock size during this boogie. Chuck
  11. Derek, are you and your old lady the two folks in Colorado who got the two demo suits from Kim? If so, are you able to keep them all the way through the Eloy gig? As far as PROtrac on a wingsuit goes, I believe Craig Poxon or Yuri are the only technophiles who put them anyplace other than right on their helmet. I am probably wrong, but then again I don't wear one, so I don't pay too much attention. I can say that Bobby Pritchard gets very accurate readings with his on his Mindwarp. When he jumps without a helmet, he sticks it in the hook knife pocket on the front of the right leg of the suit. Chuck
  12. If you intend to make your full living from skydiving, with no pension from former employment, then you had better be ready to relocate with the seasons and follow the sun. Chuck
  13. Three rides in 3200 jumps: -One bad CRW wrap where I chopped at 900 feet -One time where someone hooked my spare canopy up wrong and didn't do a check before packing it. The mal spun very quickly -One time where I had a premature brake deployment jumping my wingsuit Chuck
  14. Eloy, AZ with 70 of my friends. Nathan, on the other hand, might be back here with you, Gumby, and John. Chuck
  15. Clay is confused. The MonkeyBago is currently solid white. It is a class-c (drivable) that is parked under a big awning. Also evident are the carport and the christmas lights all over the thing. It's all about the latex house paint! Chuck
  16. LOL! Underloading! You can bet your ass that me jumping an MC-4 hollywood is definitely underloading that main. Any breeze at all and I am sucking.
  17. Anyone at Perris during the Para-Performance World Games in November 2001 could have watched Clint Clawson do exactly this, launching from some sort of tricycle contraption. It was completely nuts. He got the main inflated, raced to nearly 40 mph behind a van before he got "lift-off", soared to about 400 feet under an old EXTreme 120, then cutaway the tow line and hooked the piss out of it, swooping the narrow pond next to the grass landing area. Chuck
  18. If you are talking about an Atair Alpha (also known as Impulse and Space), then I will totally disagree with the poster who said they fly like a Stiletto. They are far less twitchy, open straighter, can be loaded heavier, and have a much longer control range. Chuck
  19. I drank quite a few Shiners in Houston; not bad. As to whether Nathan makes it out there or not is left to be seen. Last night he was whining like a beeotch because he has to drive all the way to Boston in order to use his tickets that he has already paid for. I told him to STFU and get in his damn car and drive. Lethargic does not begin to describe his recent behaviour! Chuck
  20. Also: NOBODY parties harder than I do and still lives to tell about it. Sea Bass (as Nathan says) and I will have to lead the charge! It's better to burn out than fade away. Chuckie
  21. I will not be jumping with anyone outside the dropzone.com group. I am coming to hang with my online family, pure and simple. I will be jumping every day, as much as I can tollerate. Chuck
  22. Like Scott said. You will not get any funny looks at Raeford with an MC-4 on There are SF units here almost every day of the week doing contract air jumps out of our Otters and CASA. If I don't have an old spider harness laying around, I can certainly find one in about five minutes. As far as packing goes, any number of monkeys around here can show you how to X-pack like they teach you in Yuma, or better yet just flat pack the thing. I can sink an MC-4 straight down from quite high, even with a ruck ( I weigh 155 pounds). They are slow, deliberate barges, but get the job done. My dad uses slightly modified XX's and MC-4 DRMO rigs for his big students. Chuck MFFJM (among other things)
