Incredibly simply. The student has a "faux PC" in his BOC pocket and the instructor is holding his/her real PC behind the student's back. On exit, the student goes through an "arch, reach, throw" count and throws the fake pc; sometimes a piece of balled-up newspaper in the shape of the real pc. Yes, the actual canopy is going through it's deployment sequence toward the end of that count, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that the student is maintaining a good body position and is performing the pull sequence to standard.

Condolences for Chris Martin (GroundZero)

This has, for many of us, been a horrific year as far as losing best friends and loved ones goes. One would think that nothing else could possibly go wrong, but then something unbelievable like this happens. Chuck -
Like Tim was indicating: you should use the Julien Calendar to determine repacks. It's 120 days, not 4 months.

anyone been disapointed when received new gear?

I had a complete system show up mismatched color-wise one time around 1990. My colors have always been orange and blue over a black base color, but this one time I got both a main with a sort of magenta instead of orange and a jumpsuit with the same "watermelon" color. It pissed me off royally. -
Ask Blair about landing out at night in a wingsuit! He landed right in the middle of the street down the road from the dropzone in Tylertown. Wires criss-cross that road like every fifty feet and he didn't see any of them yet managed to get down safely.

Another benefit of my Racer tandem. If my side straps are hooked up at all...and they always are.....then the passenger automatically gets cinched up to you snuggly once the drogue is thrown.
-
Those lowers do not appear to be connected at all, but since the freefall appears to be stable then I will bet that there was absolutely no problem with the deployment. As previously stated in this thread, if you always hook up in exactly the same sequence this will never happen.

Jeff, like I elluded to in my original post, it was saurkraut, whipped cream, some shaving cream and something else...possibly mayo. I had a cold at the time and didn't know what it was until someone said something about it. I then got the tiniest whif of the kraut and went, vomiting, to the showers. No amount of soap ever got the smell completely out of that jumpsuit. I was very, very angry.

There is no reason you couldn't have been taking classes while you are in. I got every bit of my college education while on active duty and in a very-busilly-deployed SF unit. Do what you want, Jake. I can tell you in all certainty, though, that having that retirement check at age 40 was fucking NICE. There is nothing stopping you from going into a more many, sexier career field except yourself. Plenty of shit to get into. See you for coctails tomorrow.

None left that that was bought for the occasion because we were out of town and didn't host trick-or-treaters. We do, however, always have a supply of my favorite candy: Trolli Brite Crawler Eggs. Think gummi sour jellybeans. They are the best.

Disaffected Americans look north to 'better government'

Beer is really cheap in Canada. There are also plenty of cool people to skydive with. "Get on the Firken Bus!" -
This direction is slightly off topic, but you know what Chris? I have paid into my social security for over 23 years now and as such have fulfilled my obligation to that system. If I become disabled I would damn well expect that system to assist me. Those, on the other hand, who have not fulfilled their minimum quota in that system should not "expect" such help without thinking they are obligated to the government (actually the taxpayers). Chuck

More outstanding posts by both Winsor and Rebecca. While a person might have a right to procreate, in my opinion they MUST be responsible for the upkeep of those offspring. Have as many as you like so long as you can afford it, but please don't make me loathe you because I am having to pay for your "right." It is simply not my responsibility.

I roll the nose on my Sabre2 and do not get slammed. I also pack very quickly.

I might slip out there Saturday for that. Will there be coctails?

Nice on, Tree!

Disaffected Americans look north to 'better government'

Canada is a great, beautiful place, but it's just too damn cold for too long of the year. As to these cowards who chose to enlist into the armed services but want to run away, fuck them. No one forced any of them to sign that contract. This cannot be confused with the draft dodging era. -
"Hey Guzman, are you wasted?" "Lisa is FUCKED UP!"
