  1. Not sure about that meet. At PST events team events went toward your four-person team score. Individual events counted toward your individual ranking.
  2. Brunswick? I would drive to Palatka from there. There or up to St. George.
  3. An aweful lot of busier dropzones have their own examiners and will cross-train you for free if you are going to work for them. The only rig I don't have a rating on (US Manufacturers) is Strong.
  4. It totally depends. If they show up as a "passenger" then I will not teach them the pull sequence. If they indicate that they are a "student" really interested in the whole procedure then I will, of course, train them and let them pull. I don't really get many people interested in pulling on a first tandem. Chuck
  5. That is the intent of very-long risers. People get them when they want to increase the recovery arc of their canopies. "Regular" jumpers would have no reason to purchase such risers, but swoopers sometimes benefit from longer risers. To answer the question though, Cazer Paraloft will make them as long as you like.
  6. In every meet I have been to which had team events, you had to show up already paired or at least have time to put together a pick-up team and practice before the comp. A partner and I were not allowed to compete in the team event at SkyQuest one year because the judges did not like our "crossing" style of setup and turn execution. Chuck
  7. I did not pay for my skydiving training. My dad owns a DZ and I grew up helping pack parachutes and hanging around the DZ. Oddly, when it came time for me to start jumping, he sent me away with one of his best friends to another DZ for my training. He didn't want to have any part of it and I never made a jump with him until I had around 50 jumps. I figure that was so nobody would say that corners were being cut. Chuck
  8. and a happy birthday to you as well, Iwan.
  9. I have been out of town and missed last weeks shows, so who got cut since Ty? Anyone? I think it's dumb for them to have cut him; he would do good as front for their band. Still, I think Mig is definitely going to win it all.
  10. Thanks everyone. It's just another day once you turn 40...
  11. Responding to you and the person who posted in front of you here. Flat packing is MUCH faster and neater when you are talking about larger canopies. By larger, I mean anything over 120 square feet. I PRO pack canopies that I can hold at my waist and not touch the ground after I have run the slider up and am holding it at the canopy. I still, quite regularly, swap between PRO and flat packing my Sabre2 97. Basically, I will always opt to flat pack any canopy that has packing tabs. Chuck
  12. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! I just spit on the monitor!
  13. Just remembered that I have to go into work for four days......on FRIDAY. I hate to miss it, but a monkey's gotta make a dollar.
  14. I know I cannot come and I have not heard about Scott going either. Any other BMI attending the event is free to call me and get the demo suits. We would actually appreciate that. Chuck
  15. You aight, JP. Just don't EVER cut me off under canopy in a swoop comp again, foo!
  16. I just want to know if my boy Joe has drank you amateurs into submission yet. Make me proud, boy! PS: thanks for the call the other day; I needed it. Chuck
  17. Make me proud, yall. Seriously. I am proud of you negros.
  18. And that was exactly my point. There are more than a couple of professional canopy pilots at The Ranch. It doesn't make much sense to me to go outside your own dropzone to receive coaching when you havent even tried to get any from the very-accomplised local competitors. I like Scott and I have sat through his lectures before. I also like Brian and I have sat through his lectures as well. They both teach off of well-thought-out sylabus' and they both come off very professionally. That said, I find it laughable that people would not get coaching from the highest-caliber locals available; particularly those with the competition resume Kamuran Bayrasli does. Just a thought. 19. Hey, if nothing else you could make a living playing the piano, Bill! I am still amazed at your little impromptu performance at PIA. Brilliant. Chuck Blue D-12501 Raeford Parachute Center
