  1. I had a good time, even with the tremendous amount of money I spent on gas towing our camper down there and back.
  2. Brandy has more staying power than Skinny!
  3. Congratulations to our very own Zeemax, also knows as Macca, also known as Frizzle, also known as James Macdonald on graduating the BMI course on 1 January 2006 in Z-hills, Florida. I am not positive what his BMI-UK number will be yet, but I think he will be number 8. This quite the feat after his off-DZ crash into a barbed-wire fence on one of his first jumps of the boogie! He literally shredded his new S3S to pieces and sustained some pretty horrific cuts all over his body, but he manned-up and got through the course, oozing puss all over the place in the process. Anyway, I will post the glory pic as soon as Gimpy gets it to me. Actually, go ahead and post it if you read this, Jake. Cheers, Chuck Blue BMCI-4
  4. We are at Kate and Tony's drinking like Vikings! See all the rest of you cool people in Z-hills on Monday night!!!!
  5. She will be at Z-hills in a couple of days with the rest of us cool people. Fear not.
  6. There is a fantastic photo of the German Army Parachute team doing a ten (actually twenty counting the passengers)-way round all with tandems. I think that was taken around 1990. That same team had a photo of them in a ten-way with full HALO gear and........wait........ROLLERSKATES! Chuck
  7. That is fantastic video.
  8. I really liked the shorter risers because they made it much easier for me to get to my slider and they made for quicker, "banging" turns. On a long-diving canopy, the slightly-shorter recovery arc they produced never hampered me. I still jump 18's on my wingsuit rig. When I decided I could benefit from the longer recovery arc afforded by longer risers on my swoop main, I switched, never looking back.
  9. Jarno, Matt just called you a "Dutch Monkey"....
  10. No. When I first switched back to PD mains I felt that a 75 would be my everyday main and a 79 would have been great for distance and wingsuit jumping. I thought that because my last four mains had been in sizes 74 and 75. I liked the 75, but found myself jumping the 79 FAR more often because I could get longer swoops out of it and it was a bit more manageable in traffic. Ultimately I traded the 75 for a Sabre2 97 for wingsuiting and I traded my 79 for an 84 because I got even longer swoops. I gave up some speed with the upsizes, but that's OK. I load my 84 at 2.11 right now and it feels "just right". Edited to add that I used to jump very-short 18 inch risers on all my rigs. I have since gone up to 22's on my Velo and love them.
  11. That actually does seem to be the reason this person bought the canopy, but to each their own so long as they possess the experience to safely land it. Personally, I don't like to land my velo (I have owned three in three different sizes) straight in because it requires such a long "runway" to do so. By that I mean the path to the point where you come into ground effect must be clear of trees, other tall obstacles, and must not cross the runway below a certain altitude. Yes, the canopy lands just fine straight in, but, as many others have stated in this thread, that's just not what the canopy was made for. Chuck

    AFFI

You are correct; you will not get that lucky with all real students.

    Suicide

I think under certain circumstances it is completely rational. Likewise, I think if a person has made that rational decision he or she ought to have some quick, humane, fool-proof way to accomplish the act without fear of persecution. Edited to add that "rational" is a very subjective term. All it takes is a few trips to some lesser third-world countries to understand that what you and I percieve as positively wrong, they see as totally normal. Chuck
  14. I don't normally follow that series, but I was bored and stayed up to watch the finale last night. It looked to me that Donald was ready to hire both of them at the same time, so I was surprised when when he singled out Randall. I was not surprised at all when he asked Randall if he thought he should also hire the girl. I am pretty sure the girl got the job anyway. Donald liked her.
  15. That's a better way to write it, so I will update mine: first jumped: 28' 7-TU first owned: Papillon first square: Pegasus
  16. I have a wingsuit-specific rig that always has one or the other of my wingsuits on it (I currently own two). The only time it is ever de-rigged is to switch suits.
  17. You are describing two different things here. Dating someone from work is entirely different than fucking your students. Like Remi said, nobody gives a shit if you and a fellow staff member want to have sex or have a real relationship. A student is not a "co-worker"; they are your pupil. Your underling. You simply cannot ethically use your position as "instructor" to get laid on the dropzone. Once a person is out of the student pipeline and integrated into the regular dropzone community, then they are fair game. Chuck
  18. Yes, don't even consider doing it unless you have all your ratings. Also, remember that packing parachutes is NOT making a living skydiving. If you want to skydive, then you will need to possess every instructional rating, plus be willing and capable of shooting decent video.
  19. I also have an old ParaPlane sled, modified for a sail slider and stabilizers added.
  20. I have owned five BoneHead helmets and will continue to jump them as long as Chris sees fit to make them. My most-used design is the Pimp Daddy Mindwarp. My second-most-used one is my Optik Illusion. They are really great helmets. Chuck
