Awww, that sounds great! Oh, another goodie (not really an airport rest), but when we were in Pagosa Springs there was a Brew Garden near the airport that all the pilots would hang out at - good fun! g "Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Too bad! Well it's only a 6 hour drive now.. I'm pretty lucky, I work/live 15-20 minutes from Camarillo. Van Nuys is about 30 minutes (in good traffic), and Santa Paula is about 45 minutes. All three very cool airports! I can't remember the name of the airport, but it's off I-5 midway between LA/San Fran and it's supposedly a hot spot for private pilots to stop for lunch/dinner. LOL I think we posted it at the same time... I was turned on to this airport by Harry Leicher. It's amazing to walk around the hangers and see the old planes. Crazy busy airport too, considering there is no control tower. You are right the breakfasts ROCK! LOL Steve and I have been waiting for Twardo - we promised we'd take him there next time he was in town - we couldn't wait any longer, we took my cousin who was visiting! I love eating at small airport restaurants... there is just something very cool about sitting down, eating, and watching all the planes take off/land. Guessing who owns the pretty jets, listening to the old timers chat, etc. Last night I went to dinner at the 94th Aero Squadron at the Van Nuys airport. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if anyone is in the LA area and is looking for good food and an awesome airport experience. Aren't you in your late 30's and have a successful job, and not reliant upon your parents??? Sorry, but I find it very odd, that the only thing that kept you home this weekend (not your family, or your ill father) is the prospect of losing money... I'd die to have the ability to live near my family to be able to visit them for holidays. I'm lucky if I see my family once a year.... g I never said "cut me off" was about money. In my family silence can be used as a weapon, so to speak. It can be either "do what I approve of" or i don't talk to you until I get my way. Sad but sometimes true. Depending on the situation.... Sorry for the wrong assumption... But... imo, I have to agree with your Dad. The sky will be there, you or your family will not. I don't even want to attempt to know the relationship with you and your family (cuz obviously I've already made a bad call), but being there for/with your family is priceless. Please don't take that as I feel you haven't been there, b/c I've seen the post's where you've made your Dad a priority - I'm merely expressing how important family means - and obviously to your Dad if he's expressed himself in that manner. Do I know you? One date I went one the day after I got a text that read, "You seem like a really nice guy, but I prefer to go out with the bad boy." I wanted to reply, "And that has worked so well for you in the past." However I held it in. One of my favorited has been, "I want a guy like you, justy not you." And then there is, "Don't worry when you get a little older all the women will want a guy like you." I could go on, but what is the point really. Unfortunately there is a bit of truth to that... and not just applicable to women, eventually people come to their senses and can truly appreciate someone who treats them with respect and love.
