  1. Thank you. For a few posts there, I thought I'd lost my status of King, and I really want to excel at *something* in my life. Thank you Yuri, for this great and magnificent honor.
  2. if you didn't finalize the disc in the camera in which it was shot, it's somewhat of a PITA. I went through this recently with a disc for a friend. In the end, it was easier to take the disc to a Best Buy and read/finalize there. If you have Sony Vegas Platinum, it will sometimes read unfinalized files, depending on the media. +R/-R. File/import/DVD Disc.
  3. Yuri, Thank you for the inspiration to review my logbook and comprehend the depths my shame for counting smiles vs numbers. F**k me, I forgot this is an exercise in math and competition. What was I thinking? Mea culpa. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa (am I forgiven now?). We really, really sucked on that jump. Should I have pulled lower? Do you suppose that looking at the beauty around me distracted my brain from flying? Maybe it was that big, red, fat ass in front of me? Would you mind running the numbers on the probability of fun x distraction=D/L increase of X? It would be important to know, because this summer I fully intend on flying behind Voodew's big flappy balls and I want to maximize my view while minimizing my D/L. I promise I'll try to do better just for you. In the meantime, keep pulling that rubber PUD; it just *might* save your wife life.
  4. I agree. Talk about biting the hand that might keep feeding you for a bit... Figured this is better Bonfire fodder.
  5. This coming from the dude smoochin' pee pee toucher in the hot pink suit I've never seen evidence of Avery smoochin' a dude. I've never seen Avery play with his pee pee or associated parts. You on the other hand... Side note, I saw a colt being castrated yesterday, I thought of you, Jason. "If wishes were fishes..."
  6. For 12 hours it does. The focus changes back to auto, as does manual exposure, after 12 hours.. Settings for General Menus remain unchanged. This is consistent with pretty well all handicam-type cameras over the years.
  7. How many skydivers showed at your Safety Day event? How many stayed through the day? We didn't get to jump; winds at the DZ were too high, although it was the warmest day of the year at 52 degrees.
  8. We just have the standard 2 min skydiver smoke at the moment, by then, I'd like to source more of the longer burn/cold smoke we had last year.
  9. Blackberry was only camera handy today; it gets the point across. This is a Tonfly CC1 with a standard L-bracket, it's nearly .25 wider than the camera, and you can see with the camera centered, it slightly hangs over the back of the bracket.
  10. I own two plus the two shoes with them permanently mounted. It wouldn't hurt if you had your own. BTW, I should clarify (someone asked in a PM). ONLY the mountain jumps require a 100 jump wingsuit minimum. The wingsuit event itself is for everyone/anyone.
  11. Yuri, Why not demand this standard of excellence from other disciplines? The next 300 way should turn a minimum of 10 points to be of recognizable value. Those sit rounds? They should be required to turn at least five points on those 69 ways. "The KING of D/L"
  12. Why not? I'll bet people would rather have you looking at them than the guy in this article.
  13. I put my CX100 on my Tonfly using an L bracket. It uses less space than the HC62 does. Very nice fit once the strap is removed and redrilling the hole on the L bracket.
  14. See Mom! I always knew I'd make it into some hall of fame or another. Yuri, I've got one where the smoke even makes it to the base. How sweet is that? "the King of D/L"
  15. With all the bigger cams, ie; Z7/Z5, EX1/3, Z1, V1, etc...you can store "looks" (setups) including gain structure, shutter speed, color prefs, etc. This makes it extremely easy to go from daylight to dark with one-button convenience. These small cams take a little time.
  16. The CX100 actually is more light sensitive (and has greater dynamic range) than the CX7 due to the EXMOR sensors, but these can work against you, too. We've had problems with light balance comparisons between the V7U and the EX1 due to how EXMOR works. I have NOT run charts in low light, but have used the CX100 in low light. Lemme see if I can put together a recipe for you. Sure wish the CX series had storable profiles like the bigger cams.
  17. If that's true, Scotty is a "drag King."
  18. For those that attended either the Canyon Run (October 08) or the Wingsuits over Utah jumps (July 08), we've got a more fun jump planned for the FreeFlock Utah event in July of 09. If you want to participate: -You must have 100 wingsuit jumps -Be evaluated prior to the jump -helmet/audible -It's preferable that you've had a previous HALO experience. -We'd like you to use an AAD, but it's not required. -MUST carry a cell phone. -Understand that Purple Mike is not the right guy to follow in unfamiliar territory Sorry Mike, couldn't resist (there is a good story there). We'd prefer you have smoke experience, but we do already have half a dozen smoke-experienced wingsuiters. I won't reveal the specifics of the site just yet, but suffice it to say it's more incredible, beautiful, and potentially hazardous than the afore-mentioned jumps (there are ZERO outs in the first 2.0 miles). The photos show the approximate area we'll be flying; if you know what you're looking at, you'll probably figure the rest of it out.
  19. How are you setting it up? Put it to EASY and see if you still hate it. HD isn't DV; it is ALWAYS noisier on small chip cams, and of course, the noise is more visible. But in reasonable light (Lux values are meaningless in small cams) this cam performs on par with everything else in its class. Better, actually.
  20. Depends on what you wish to do. If you only want to adjust exposure, crop, maybe some minor color correction, and publish to web/gallery/proofsheet/print, then Aperture/Lightroom are all you need. If you wish to go beyond those actions, you'll want Photoshop (which is also available for Mac). FWIW, i have an MBP with Adobe CS4 on both Windows and OS X sides, Photoshop runs quite a bit faster on the PC side. Then again, so does Premiere. In other words, if you're gonna get a Mac, consider enough storage space to run Windows over Bootcamp, particularly if you want AVCHD editing capability.
  21. Seriously. http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssConsumerGoodsAndRetailNews/idUSLD25478020090313 Wow. DV is dead. Didn't they get the memo?
  22. They're different apps with a different purpose. Photoshop=editing, manipulation of photos and graphics. Aperture/Lightroom=development/processing of digital images, and delivery to print or web. Aperture and Lightroom allow for limited processing of images but neither one are Photoshop (and Photoshop can't efficiently do what Lightroom/Aperture do, either).
  23. I think that's the only Robin Williams movie I'd truly like to forget.
  24. Someone actually RTFM???? This is true. However, the same holds for the CX7/12, and they both manage the Sandisk 16's just fine. But it is caveat emptor.... And even the cheapie 4/8GB cards from noname on eBay don't work. We got zapped that way on some old 1GB cards a couple years back.
