It's more appropriate where the people who are being photographed can see it, vs the ones taking the photographs. I'm not sure how it can be seen as advertising (Jeff, are you receiving funds for mentioning that wingsuit photographers are often over looked by wingsuiters?) Trust me, in the Photo/Video forum, we KNOW what we're worth. The difficulty lies ingetting everyone else to realize it.

Germain's article on the recession
DSE replied to zipplewrath's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's somewhat easy for our sport to take advantage of a recession; people don't go as far from home, but they still want fun. It's basic marketing. 6Flags in Utah is doing exactly that market pitch (why go somewhere else when you can have fun right here?) -
I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere, but 20 years ago, we did a series of really sick songs ("Chewing Band-Aids" was one of them) that a radio show host named "Dr. Dimento" used to play. Along with those, we did some parodies of the old K-Tel and RonCo television ads, and the Face Peel Pocket Cheek and Neck Ripper was one of them (Popiel=FacePeel) Those were the days...
-
I swear, I heard this exact same pitch on TV a few nights ago from that way too happy looking REO Speedwagon guy ...."BUT WAIT!!! If you order NOW, we'll send you the Face Peel Pocket, Cheek, and Neck Ripper! That's right. At absolutly no cost to you, we'll send you this little self defense jewel when you order your Andrenaline Action Sound Library! If that's not good enough, we'll send you a free can of Spray on Hair (expired in 1998, but what the hell, we've still got a lot of it, " especially blonde). In my library of stuff, we have pieces that have been written for various projects that we still own outright. They've been used on small boutique projects, and all are fast-paced, perfect for skydiving...which is why I'd consider doing it. I'd expect they'd come in for less than 70.00 for around 30 tracks. Unlimited use... Now I just gotta source a couple hundred Pocket, Cheek, and Neck Rippers.

Then consider yourself a very lucky person. I believe that the camera makes the different, not a piece of glass....Maybe a high quality glass or a pure glass have a visiable different.... I don't know... The glass makes the entire difference. The camera is what it is, you can only degrade the image from there. If it's the camera, why do you suppose every camera manufacturer and third-party lens company makes varying degrees of glass (whether it's camera lenses, binoculars, etc? There is a lens chart found in the sticky at the top of this page, and there are at least 10 lens recommendations in this thread. For inside/.3 the Raynox 3000 series (it's big) or the Century Baby Death (it's big) For outside video work; The Century .55 for low profile The Century .65 for maximum resolution (it's big/heavy) The Raynox 5000 series (It's big) All resolve at 600 lines or higher. None of the Waycool, Cookie, Royal, Liquid, or off the shelf lenses resolve higher than 280.

Photoshop can also be used for video. It's always fun to play with frames in Pshop because of speed. Lots of creative horsepower there, Try the presets and then make them your own.

Being able to see/not see the weakness of one lens over another is entirely subjective. Objectively, the SD lens is very obvious on a rez chart no matter how you slice it. Bear in mind, watching footage on an older display or television won't show you any difference one way or another. If you've got the money, spend it on quality that will carry you into the next few years. If you don't, and soft video doesn't bother you (and NEVER, EVER turn up sharpening on a small handcam) then go for the lower cost lens and be happy. On some displays it's a challenge to see the difference between SD and HD lenses....The question is, do your customers have better displays? (most do).

Tony, the numbers from the jump would somewhat support your supposition, but I can't agree with you due to the mere principle that I should remain D/L king. Ever ridden a motorcycle with a big windscreen on the front and hat on yo head? the hat blows off forward, from the back.
-
Unfortunately, that comment isn't remotely accurate... One wingsuiter I'm familiar with has commented in these very forums that he can look at someone's skills, not jump numbers, and know if they are ready to jump a wingsuit. That seems to be somewhat common.

Who said they were all from the air? Who said they were all from the formation? There are at least 30GB of nothing but ground shots and due to time, they weren't cataloged any differently than aerial shots. Beyond that, I can easily believe someone who thinks a batwing is creative thinks quality photos should be free. It disappoints me.

ND2 is a Neutral Density 2. It helps reduce light coming into the camera so the camera can function at it's optimal aperture in brightly lit areas, such as shooting into the sun and water (which we were using the CX for as a crashcam, not skydiving related). The Cookie Padlock has just become my favorite mount. I've yet to see anything more solid. It's big, but damn... You can hang from it. No kidding. I watched a professional weight lifter lift an entire display case via a pin on the Padlock...I don't know when it'll be shipping. you can see it on Youtube.com, just search for the PIA videos.

AAD issues when traveling to and from New Zealand
DSE replied to Feeblemind's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nicely done! -
Hello Dan, welcome to the forum. Still or video? If you're just starting out, video is where you'll likely want to begin. Read the STICKY at the top of this forum, it'll provide a lot of answers. Also, please fill out your profile? It helps everyone get to know you better and help you find the best answers possible to your questions.

It is a .55 Century on the front. It has an ND2 behind it (the silver seen) that most folks wouldn't use for skydiving (I mention it because I've rec'd two PM's asking what it is).
-
Nah...No way could Jeff (or anyone else on that jump) possibly approach my throne, it's FAR too low for them to go. I would say that Oct 21, 2005 is still the saddest day in wingsuit history, and it likely will be for some time to come.

Just curious, what do you guys all think an "adrenaline-driven" library volume would be worth in terms of what you'd pay for say...30 power songs? Most libraries only come with a few useful songs, I've considered putting together a "powerpack" based on pieces we've scored for films and broadcast. It would contain around 28-35 pieces, each 3 mins (approx) long. Should I be looking at this? Our market reach for this is mostly the skydiving community, so it's a small reach.

PA is *very* different than Ultimate S, yes. regarding cost, that is what the setback is related to. I can't comment further at this time.

Nope, it's not "outdated," it's "pre-dated." The trial code we included requires a different key due to some changes Sony has made. Sony will not allow us to sell it just yet, the original plan was that the DVD would be out, the trial would run until Sony's deadline, and then you could purchase the plugin. Sony pushed our deadline back by a bit, so we're creating a new trial code that will open the trial up for a longer period. Very, very sorry for the inconvenience. Sometimes, big companies can really mess up your world. I'll have a more detailed explanation when I'm able to say more. BTW, the trial is in the EXTRAS folder on the DVD. But you'll need the new code to run it, as the original code expired on March 1. I'll post the code here as soon as I have it.

Think about what makes you spin. (uneven/asymmetrical surface) Releasing a legwing during the freefall portion of a skydive isn't going to help bring any surface into symmetry? Possibly making things worse. Someone may be of a differing opinion, but IMO, legwing quick release system is for landing when you couldn't unzip the zipper or didn't have time to get it undone.

This is similar to your question in the CX100 thread and storable profiles. I like Landscape for tandems, it's deeper/more rich and the JPEGS are ready to go at the bottom. I shoot RAW for most everything else. I've also created a custom profile/setting for my stuff with a saturation push.

Very cool! Congrats for passing the course!

Consider making the shot into a painting, or a negative with chroming, there are dozens of cool tutorials on the web. If you get the chance to check out the Bent Prop, you can see quite a few examples of Mike McGowan's very creative works using photoshop. He's a photographer too, but given the mix of "creative works" vs straight photos, he's used Photoshop to expand his palette of creative options.

Need help on Home depot Demo!!
DSE replied to recovercrachead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is so much information on Dropzone.com, it would be a cakewalk to copy/paste information. What have you given people at those previously mentioned demos? It seems you can speak about the sport, why not write it down? There is a lot of copy/paste information -Here -Here -Here -Here -Here -Here -Here -Here -Here -Here In other words, there is a lot of information out there. Shouldn't be too hard to cobble together an informative one-page brochure? -
We had the same powerpoint presented at PIA on wingsuiting, was probably too lengthy but folks seemed to enjoy/appreciate.

The lens is taped to prevent accidental movement of the zoom, and in some cases, focus as well. You're better off using a tandem stow band; it won't leave residue or attract dirt into the barrel.
