Former Congressman Randall "Duke" Cunningham Sentenced to 8 Years
dontbounce replied to a topic in Speakers Corner
Republicans always bitch when democrats blame society for the situations that cause people to commit crime... I find it ironic that you use the same ploy to defend a reublican that was caught receiving MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in bribes. He was dirty. He will be known as the most corrupt official EVER in the history of politics. When we have democrats getting busted over a $50.00 golf trip paid by a lobbyist, he got a friggin $300,000 ROLLS-ROYCE. Cmon, get real. He is a crook that abused the trust we placed in him, and hopefully he spends the next 8 years getting gang raped in prison. here is just a partial list, for a more complete one, see below: 1. Duke Cunningham (R), Felony Indictment 2. Jack Abramoff (R) Felony Indictment 3. Scooter Libby (R) Felony Indictment 4. Tom Delay (R), Felony Indictment 5. Thomas W. Noe (R), Felony Indictment 6. Bob Ney (R), Felony Indictment coming soon 7. Carl Rove (R), Felony Indictment coming soon 8. Linda Schrenko, Felony Indictment 9. Dick Cheney (R), I can dream, can't I? 10. Chuck McGee (R), Felony Indictment 11. James Tobin (R), Felony Indictment Does anybody see a pattern forming here? So much for the "contract with america" where the republicans were going to "clean up" washington, huh? Or did they mean "clean out" washington? Stephan Botes, 47, were named in an 18-count indictment that alleges they were involved in a scheme to steal federal education funds and secretly funnel about half the money to Schrenko's failed 2002 campaign for governor. In addition, the indictment charges the Republican school superintendent used $9,300 of the money to pay for cosmetic surgery. (Oct. 13) -- Federal, state, and local officials are gathering information about allegations of voter registration fraud that were first raised Channel 8 Eyewitness News. An employee of a private voter registration firm alleges that his bosses trashed registration forms filled out by Democratic voters because they only wanted to sign up Republican voters. Bush Official Arrested in Corruption Probe By R. Jeffrey Smith and Susan Schmidt Washington Post Staff Writers Tuesday, September 20, 2005; Page A01 The Bush administration's top federal procurement official resigned Friday and was arrested yesterday, accused of lying and obstructing a criminal investigation into Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff's dealings with the federal government. It was the first criminal complaint filed against a government official in the ongoing corruption probe related to Abramoff's activities in Washington. Republican operative Nathan Sproul's company is under investigation for allegedly destroying voter registration forms signed by Democrats. Now comes new evidence about Sproul's connections to the Bush-Cheney campaign. In Nevada, Voter Outreach of America is accused by former employees of shredding the registration forms of thousands of Democrats; in West Virginia, Voter Outreach of America employees say they were instructed to mislead voters into registering Republican and voting for Bush; in Oregon, yet another swing state, the state attorney general has opened a criminal investigation into allegations that Sproul's firm, which is Voter Outreach of America's parent company, was involved in intentionally destroying or discarding voter registration forms signed by Democrats. According to OpenSecrets.org, Sproul's firm received $125,000 this year from the Republican National Committee for voter registration and another $500,000 for "political consulting." GOP Caught Trying to Use Public Libraries as Fronts 22-Sep-04 Bush Campaign 2004 Mail Tribune: "A local librarian checking on a company's request to set up a voter registration booth in the library discovered the company was not affiliated with a non-partisan national group as it claimed. Sproul & Associates, Inc. of Phoenix, Ariz., phoned and mailed the library in September, saying it had been hired by America Votes. That came as news to America Votes. 'This organization (Sproul) absolutely has nothing to do with America Votes,' said Kevin Looper, the state organizing director for America Votes. December 6, 2004—The manipulation of computer voting machines in the recent presidential election and the funding of programmers who were involved in the operation are tied to an intricate web of shady off-shore financial trusts and companies, shady espionage operatives, Republican Party politicians close to the Bush family, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) contract vehicles. An exhaustive investigation has turned up a link between current Florida Republican Representative Tom Feeney, a customized Windows-based program to suppress Democratic votes on touch screen voting machines, a Florida computer services company with whom Feeney worked as a general counsel and registered lobbyist while he was Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, and top level officials of the Bush administration. YEAH!!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!! -
No, Cindy Sheehan had a son die in Iraq. Now she is excercising her constitutional right to free speech to demonstrate against a war that she feels strongly about. I would too, given the recents FACTS that have emerged about our real reason for going there. It is the idiots that heard some 5 minute segment on Fox News about her and have been brainwashed with so much hate for her without ever trying to formulate their own opinion that need a bullet. People that don't ever put too much thought into things and let themselves be led around like a philosophical zombie need a bullet... People that rely on Fox News for "fair and balanced" coverage of the "news" that they want you to hear. Thoughtless, Mindless, Zombie Sheep are much more dangerous to this country than a peace activist, a rampaging bumpkin president or even the terrorists themselves. Peace,

I paid 16k for my Scion. Scion is a subsidiary of Toyota (legendary reliability). It is a great Car, and it is very reliable (from all the reports I read before buying). Power is great (same 2.4L VVT-i as the Toyota Camry), it HAULS ass, suspension is awesome (same is the Lexus IS300/turns on rails), and looks cool too. Short on fancy features (everyting is an upgrade), but great right out of the box too. If you are looking for a reasonably priced car that will last a long time, maybe check into it. If you are looking to spend more (and get more luxury/fancy stuff), check out the Toyotas.. I love the smooth comfort of my Camry (but my scion is way more fun to drive). Oh yeah, I can control my IPOD through the buttons on the steering wheel... Sweeeet... Thats one of the best features.

Buy a Jap car. Sure, your a traiter and putting honest Americans out of work, but at least you arent driving a peice of shit American car that dies after 7 years. I have a 03 Toyota Camry, and a 06 Scion tC. I havent had a single mechanical problem since I sold my Dodge 3 years ago... Chrysler, Dodge, Chevy are all the same. They look great, and run great for the first 20,000 miles. Then they fall apart and you still owe more on the loan the it is worth (resale value is terrible). Then you are stuck with a dead car that you hate. Buy Jap (esp Toyota/Scion). You wont be sorry.

Your are either full of BS and you were making it up all along, or you have serious issues sorting out your priorities...

Thanks! Also, don't get an AR15. The holes are tiny, and the bullets go really fast (no/little shock wave created by the bullet). When you have tiny fast bullets, you could theoretically shoot somebody 15 times at a range of 5-15 feet and they could still come at you because they have many tiny, thin little holes drilled in them (as opposed to one big one that your cat could jump through. I guarantee you that will stop them cold ). If you want something for "long range self defense" (if there is such a thing), get a Russian or Chinese AK-47 style gun, something that shoots a 7.62x39 cartridge. The bullets are a lot fatter, the shells pack a lot more juice and you can use either full metal jackets (long range) or softpoints (great stopping power). The AR15 definitely has "Movie Star Appeal" because it is definitely an "Assault Rifle", but if you want a better weapon, get a Chinese SKS, an AKS-74, AK-47, or similar. If you want to impress your girl with your "soldier-of-fortune pose", get the AR-15. Or, you could spend the money on her so she doesn't have to whore herself out to mobsters... Or, go with my original suggestion, the 8-shot, 12ga Mossberg Model 500 Pump with pistol grips. Just the "chk-chk" noise it makes when you chamber a round is enough to give even the hardest of the hard a little skidmark in their britches.

In 2004, I was rooting for General Wes Clark. He has an IQ of about 170, and the reason he could not win the support of the people is because his jokes were so deep, nobody got them until the next day (especially in the red states...). I think we need somebody that is extremely intelligent in the White House to clean up the horrible mess our stupid ass president and his crack squad of foreign policy advisors have put us in. We also need somebody with real battlefield leadership experience (besides landing on an aircraft carrier and declaring "mission accomplished" two years ago). Somebody that knows how to fight a war, and also somebody with the courage to cut his losses when the price becomes too high. We need somebody with balls, because we are in a world of shit in Iraq, and it is getting worse by the day. 2,350 dead soldiers (remember the 2000 mark, when it was all over the TV?). There are also 15,000 soldiers severely wounded and still counting with no end in sight... I imagine now that we are sinking into civil war there, that number will grow quickly. We need a "Real" commander in chief, not a semi-retarded redneck puppet that isn't permitted to speak out loud unless he is wearing an earpiece and actively being handled by his political advisors. Feel free to attack me personally... I can take it... [edited to remove the most incendiary comments]

Um, I am a hardcore democrat, and (IMHO) the only thing less likely than Hillary Clinton being elected in 2008 is a black female with buck teeth that was a card carrying member of an administration that will likely be viewed as the biggest political failure in American history. Not that having a Black Female President is a bad thing, its just that you are more likely to have gomer pyle (yes I know), or Santa Claus, or Big Bird. Don't forget that there are still lots of racist, woman-hating bumpkins in the red states. Democrates won't vote her because she is a member of the "evil empire". Most republicans wouldnt support her either because she is black, she is female, she is a member of the "evil empire" or some other reason. Remember, there are at least 52 million idiots in this country. We tested that in 2004. Just my $0.02

Got it. Planning to move to dallas. I got a dallas number and forwarded it (in skype) to my Phoenix AZ cell phone. That way, I can post my resume on monster and dice as a "local" candidate in Dallas. They call my Dallas number, it rings my Phoenix Cell Phone. Pretty frickin cool if you ask me. I have gotten about 30 calls on it so far. Works greak...

Actually the .44 was replaced by the .454 "raging bull", then the .500, then the .600. The .44 magnum is the 4th most powerful handgun in the world. Just doesnt have the same ring, does it? That movie was made in the 70's... lol The the other guy pimping his girl out.. WTF? Get a job, creep! ...and then pick up a Mossberg Model 500 12 gauge pump with pistol grips. Go from Zero to Hero in one pump. Will run you about $150.00 in any pawn shop, and will put a hole in your enemy that your cat can jump through. P.S. If the bad guys are wearing body armor, they probably arent wearing it on their knees, elbows, or head. Let that be your guide. Cheers,

Yes, The next time I see an 80 year old lady using the ATM Machine, or if the Columbians call me back about making a "run" for them. I have a hard enuff time paying for AFF... Freefall costs me about $2.50 / second Maybe I can knock off a few liquer stores... Jeeze, when did I become a junkie? LOL Yes. My first jump, I thought the whole right side of my head was going to explode. It felt like somebody parked a truck on my head. My wife told me two squeeze my nose and blow, and it made a weird noise inside my head "ssssssst" and "POP!" it worked (the most excruciating pain I have felt in a long time) I don't think the problem was related to my hearing loss. I was fighting a head cold. It is still worth it though... -
anybody know anything about this...?

OMFG. I laughed for 2 full minutes. It is especially true for schmucks like me still working through AFF.... -
Hearing Impairement Question

Yikes, that is my problem now, I dont want to make it worse... I noticed my ears rang for days after jumping, but at the time (while in free fall) I didn't really notice how loud it was (had other things on my mind). I will pick up a good pair of plugs and try it in the plane and FF. If my eardrums can't equalize then I guess I will use them on the plane only. THANKS ALL! -

Hearing Impairement Question
dontbounce replied to dontbounce's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I damaged the hearing in both of my ears firing 2000 rounds through a .50 cal machine gun in Korea. Does anybody know how the noise of the Otter/Free fall/etc can damage hearing after long term exposure? Also, how loud are audibles? My hearing loss (10% in 1 ear, 20% in the other) doesnt mean I can't talk in a normal conversation, I just have a hard time hearing in a busy office, or a fast food joint with poor acustics? Does anybody use active hearing protection, such as plugs, etc when jumping? God only gave me one set of ears, and I want to take care of them, and avoid the unsightly hearing aid for as long as possible... And no jokes about "talk into my good ear, honey". I am only 31. -
I paid $90 for a 6 minute DVD of my 1st Jump. Market Size = 1 No extras and happy upbeat music didn't match the "I just soiled my undies" look on my face either...
-
Yeah, I was surprised at how friendly they were in terms of explaining the risk. You would think they would have been like "only crazy people do this, and you could die", instead they were really cool. The risk depends a lot on the quality of your gear, the conditions you jump in, the quality of your pack job, and the decisions you make in terms of high performance flying vs. safe flying. So, 200 jumps a year could be safer than driving your car, or it could be less safe than playing russian roulette.

Thanks!

Anybody ever seen this article? Anybody see anything wrong with the accuracy? I thought it was a pretty cool overview (and pretty accurate). Anybody know what kind of container that is? How Stuff Works site is a great resource... http://travel.howstuffworks.com/skydiving.htm/printable

Awesome! I didnt know they could do camo. Was that special request, or is it an option on their web applet? You going to jump in BDUs and boots too?
-
I agree. I did talk to my affi before I jumped again. He agreed with the knowledgable responses of the posters. If "joebob internet" with an "alleged" D license, and 18,000 jumps tells me to do X, and my AFFI tells me to do Y, I do Y. Period. ;) Thats good advice for the rest of you noobies like me too... FYI, My last jump, i flared a tiny bit too early, and popped back up a few feet. Instead of maintaining a full flare, I let up on the toggles just a tad thinking I would sink down a wee bit... Wrong. 4 jumps, 3 mouthfulls of dirt... I am learning how to time my flare, and I guess it is something you only learn with practice. Fortunately, the grass DZ in eloy doesn't taste too bad (as long as the wuffos dont let their dogs shit on it). Still nothing broken though, and I got down safe. Cheers!

Boeing 757 Jetliner. Sip some coffee and munch Sushi in the extra soft Lazy-Boy, kick it up to 700mph & drop me off at 18,000.. If only I had won that $350,000,000 powerball.
