I'm a local jumper at Archway in Vandalia Illinois. It's about one hour east of St. Louis. We have a Caravan and a Cessna 182 as jump ships and it's about the biggest DZ in the area, yet it still has a small, home-town feel to it. It's a good place to come do your first jump. Very safe. What time does the beer light go on? I think I'll follow Hans' lead from the farm... here the beer light will always be on... (you may not be allowed to jump, but drink all you like) actually, I have enough land in the back to have a nice grass strip. 15 acres is a pretty nice LZ too, not big enough for an actual dz, but i'm only 10 min by car from my home dz, and when the caravan takes off to the north and circles to the northwest, you could easily hop and pop and land in my back yard for burgers and beer.

i've jumped a westwind maybe 1/2 a dozen times in tullahoma, tn. frought w/ problems. once it lost an engine, all had to bail out, one chick struck her head on one of the tails and was knocked out, cypres fire, landed in trees. another time, had a blow out on one of the main wheels, ground looped or something, lost gear, just bad shit. ugly plane. but it was my first turbine, so i'm kinda attached to it, like you're attached to your first lay, ya know? So now that we own a bunch of land, a homestead, a ponderosa, a farm if you will I bought a tractor! And here it is... It's the one on the left, w/o the backhoe. damn thing cost as much as frickin car! but it sure does cut grass nicely and will come in handy when we get cows (two calves coming soon, but no sheep, so stay away Clay) and for all the other homestead work we have to do....
