Yes! She said that she recognized me from Hinckley, but maybe I spent too much time when the bar opened up at the holiday party or something. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I gave a male skydiver his first lesson in belly dancing on Saturday. He did rather well for his first time. He has to work on the flexibility in his torso (he doesn't arch much), but he is a natural at hip shimmeys. I think he just wanted to play with the finger cymbals. Yeah, I'm sure we've talked about this before, but I have a cool little story to share with you all. I went to my belly dancing class last Wednesday, and I got there a few minutes early. Some of the girls were chit chatting, and I overheard one girl talk about skydiving. My ears perked up, and I eventually walked over to her and asked, "Do you skydive?" She moved up from FL, has about 300 jumps, and is going to jump at Hinckley this summer!

No, it doesn't imply an adverse effect. The definition stated different treatement, not worse, based on a specific category. Also, I do not want to become one of the guys. Where did that come from? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

How is that very creative? That's the definitition of the word. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Uhhh....that doesn't qualify as discrimination. That qualifies as a bulk discount and employee incentives. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

whats the most amazing/beautiful thing you have seen under canopy?
Vallerina replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
Haha! I saw the title of the thread, and I had a quick response of, "Spain." You beat me to my answer, though! Every skydiver needs to go to Empuria Brava at least once. The pictures don't do it justice. There is nothing like being surrounded by the most marvelous view ever. The sun setting there does mysterious things with the clouds, mountains and sea. Mmmm....absolutely stunning. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -
Since I'm one of the people "crying and whining" about the details (although, merely pointing out sexism isn't exactly crying and whining), I feel the need to defend that side. Reverse the cost of jumps. Make women pay more. See what happens. If it's discrimination one way, then it is discrimination the other way. I'm always against discrimination. 5-way: One person in the middle and two donuts being built off of them. They turn 180, and people build the opposite hand donut. I like donuts.

That's what makes me ill. Women yap on about how they want equal treatment. Equal treatment = good. Preferential treatment = better. I want to be treated equally. Don't have other men subsidize my jumps from me. I make good enough money to where I don't need men to subsidize anything for me. And that's what makes them hypocrites. Lieutenant Dan!!! My FJC instructor rocked! He did a great job at conveying information to us and keeping the class interesting. He would drive any of the Purdue students out to the dz. If there weren't enough jumpers to get the Cessna up, he'd pay for the extra slot so that you could get your student jumps in. He also restarted the Purdue Sport Parachute Club, so I am very thankful for that. Not only did he rock as an instructor, but he is such a great person, too. Out of all of the people I've ever met, he's definitely in the top five in the intelligence category (he supposedly invented something "neat-o" at the age of 23, and he received his PhD in physics faster than anyone else at Purdue ever has. He actually went from his undergrad straight to a PhD.) Plus, he was so funny! He is such a great person! Thanks for starting this thread! I haven't thought about him in awhile. I should write him an email or something! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

I completely agree. I wouldn't go somewhere if they charged me more for being female, so I wouldn't go somewhere where they charge me less. (No, I don't go to Ladies' Nights.) There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Okay, I still don't think that you get it. People use the analogy of this being Sangiro's house, so we'll go with that. Let's say that this is Sangiro's house, and he's having people over. At first, there's just a few people getting to know each other better and talking about both serious/non-serious topics. Because it's a small party, it's pretty easy to see that this is someone's home and to respect them. The party got huge. While there is still a ton of socializing, it's not so much a "group" anymore. It's just a massive amount of people who don't realize that they are trashing someone's house. With such a big group, the loud guy can be louder. The creepy guy can be creepier. The attention whores can be whoring more. The host walks up and asks someone to tone it down, and they respond with, "But you didn't ask Billy to tone it down!!!!" The host wants everyone to have a good time. Sure, guests can try to ignore the people that annoy them, but when you run into them all the time, it can get pretty difficult to do. I'm not referring to you or your posts. I'm not saying that you have to change your ways. However, I'm saying that everyone needs to change their ways. Everyone needs to be more respectful to the host. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

You don't get it. There doesn't need to be a compromise. This is Sangiro's place. He can do whatever he wants with it...even shut it down. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Haha! I decided to donate because it got axed! This is a much needed lesson for some that this is not your playground! I definitely did the same. I networked here as a way to find a ride from Orlando to Lake Wales, and I met Phreezone because of it. My home dz was closing, and I wanted to travel, so I met people here and traveled around a bit. It was always fun meeting people and staying connected with them through this site. I don't have the interest in travelling around to a bunch of dzs anymore, so I don't socialize much here anymore, so maybe that's why I don't really miss TB. Dumbest thing you did skydiving
Vallerina replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oops! Sorry! I should've been clearer! I didn't track because I freaked out about the clouds (there was one right below us, but I managed to miss it.) Another guy didn't track either, and we were back to back, so we didn't see each other. We opened at about the same time, and we both had off-heading openings. We were both under canopy. It was ugly, but not that ugly. I don't know how I survived my first 100 jumps. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning -

Two stick out in my head. #1 I didn't track well enough (or at all.) It resulted in a canopy collision. I learned my lesson. I learned how to track. (Getting video of my track proved that I really wasn't doing a, b and c like I thought I was!) #2 I didn't pick an "out" landing, and I was too focused on making it back to the main landing area. It was too windy, and I didn't stay upwind long enough. So, my friend and I landed in ridiculously tight areas surrounded by way too many hazards. (Highway, power lines, factory, trees, fence.) We both landed in two separate 10-ft clearings (not due to skill....I chalk that up to luck.) I learned to always pick my outs before I need them. I've said it many times before, but I really wish there was an ignore type of function. If I don't like person A, and I get into arguments with them, I will just ignore them. It will make me enjoy things more since I won't come across posts that make me miffed, and it would make the site better since there would be fewer "last word" kind of posts. Unfortunately, the site doesn't have that, so we all (yes, myself included) have to try to turn on the ignore function in our brains. If I don't like someone's viewpoint, well, I can state mine once and not repeat the same things over and over again. Another thing that we should take it upon ourselves to do is to use the forums wisely. Constant one-liners and constant, "Hey, are you going to X this weekend?" posts cost HH more money, and it makes more work for the moderators. Remember that you can im or email people to flirt with them, find out how they're doing and find out what they're doing this weekend. There is some good stuff in Talk Back (ie, I was able to get the word out about my friends' dz). Just pretend that it's going to cost you $1 per post. Is your post really worth that $1? What did you learn late in life that made you feel like a fool?

I'm sorry, Clay, but I must dance to fancy shmancy reggae music while on vacation, and I heard that Haiti just doesn't have the steal drums that I require. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

You're the winner!!!! I think we've decided on the Virgin Islands. I'm looking into villas right now actually! It was your post that contained everything I want in a trip: most beautiful beaches in the world, hiking, tons of food, beer, reggae music! Are there any rich people that would like to join us? Or, are there any skydivers that haven't maxed out their credit cards yet that would like to join us?

When did you start talking about Val? You're just jealous that I drank a bottle of Cava this weekend, and you didn't! Get better soon, you boozehag-wannabe, or I'll send you vibes like you've never seen before! And, Eric, are you sure it wasn't your unstableness that was making her out of frame? Thanks for all the tips and for posting pictures!

I wish we would've gone. It sounded awesome. All dropzones should be located within 20 mins of my house! That would make my life much easier. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
