  1. Ahhhh...that reading comprehension thing strikes you again. Find any post where I said I didn't vote for Bush? Just as I held my nose with McCain and pulled the lever I did so with Bush. Doesn't mean I thought he was good...in fact it was the difference between bad and worse. As bad as Bush was Kerry would have been worse; as Obama is. You really need to learn to understand what you read and stop suggesting things I never said. You have done it to me and at least two others who have called you out on the same issue this week. Get a job and maybe you won't spend all your time here writing nonsense....making up other people's arguments for them. Quote Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BTW...I didn't get a Bush stimulus check and I think Bush sucked also. I am not a Republican...got anything left to say original now? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm starting to rethink that the 2000 and maybeteh 2004 election really were fixed....never can find any Bush voters; comne on out of the Bush closet - it's ok.
  2. Got a small one in my briefcase...read it at least once per year. Find the place in there where some right in some international document trumps the rights in the constitution. Will save you some time...its not there.
  3. Ok....got it, nothing original.
  4. Ridiculous post...I was the first person in my family to attend college. I make 5 times what my father made. I have been to other class societies....you don't have a clue about how great this country is and the opportunities that drive so many others to come here or strive to. Anyone from Haiti stopping at Cuba on their way to America? Anyone from Guatemala happy to just stop and stay in Mexico? No is the answer since you probably don't know that. Stop sitting on your butt doing nothing and whining about others working their asses off and making money. Quote There seems to be such a small amount of class mobility that you mean to say let's punish the people who's parents and great parents made good decisions. Also, the only people getting a tax incease thru this are the ones who are very rich or who get their compensation redirected thru a phat insurance policy. I'd love to see the cost incr to you pesonally, as in how it works. Just like teh Iraq/Afghanistan War, how has it cost you a dime?
  5. You need health care go to the emergency room as a last resort. Government run health insurance is not a right...sorry. Thank goodness we have a constitution....makes the other declaration meaningless in my mind. Quote According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to which the USA subscribes as signatory to the UN treaty (and hence it becomes part of the Supreme Law of the Land), health care IS a right.
  6. Maybe you should google Obama's stimulus package...almost $800 billion of nonsense. It legislated MORE deficit spending on top of the $800 billion. BTW...I didn't get a Bush stimulus check and I think Bush sucked also. I am not a Republican...got anything left to say original now? Quote In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and a soaring deficit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That a Dem promptly tripled. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think you'll find that the state of the deficit was pretty much determined before the change of administration. How much did Bush pay to bail out AIG and the banks?
  7. As usual...you are wrong again. I want Obama to fail precisely because I love the country and want it to succeed. Trillion dollar deficits a year for the next 10 years, declining freedom with cap and tax, health care, and most other things he is attempting to foist on us. Bush was bad...Obama is horrific. Quote In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Geebus H. Flippin' Christ on a cracker. Get over it. The Nobel Committee made a statement by giving him an award. They like him better than the last guy that was in office. Big flippin' deal. Move on already. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conservatives want Obama to fail, the country to fail and everyone to marvel in the glory of failure so they can reinstall their version of success.
  8. Have you ever been anywhere but the next county? If you have traveled the world...or even a small part of it you would understand real class societies vs. the freedom that is left in the US (although the federal government continues to chip away at our freedoms).
  9. Well...I am not the only one where this happens with luckyboy. Its a lot easier for him when he sets up a strawman argument that he attributes to you (one you don't believe and never said) and then argues against it. This way he can make the same meaningless/factless assertions over and over on every thread. Its a lot easier than making a cogent argument regarding something you actually posted. It would be as if I posted the "earth is flat" on every thread... If you're going to argue with yourself, then why bother logging on here? TIP: Spend less time putting words in other people's mouths and more time listening to what they have to say. You'll be less annoying that way.
  10. - I didn't call you anything. - Money is not taxed. Only the INCOME from the money is taxed (interest, dividends, etc. are income). - Property tax is for real property. Generally this is real estate although some places tax property such as cars. Money is not taxed as real property in at least the 11 states I have lived in. It is NOT taxed by the Feds...only income from it is taxed. - There are a number of other fees for tolls, a hunting license, a carry permit, etc. The politicians like to suggest they are not a "tax". - Money is not taxed. - Instead of trying to make everyone equal by taking from the rich why not spend some effort making the poor more wealthy...
  11. Idiotic comment...money is not taxed. Income is taxed for the most part. If you inherit great wealth like the Kennedys or Rockefellers you only pay tax on the income from your stash of money. Don't have to do any real work, live like a king, pretend you are dedicating yourself to public service, and pay very little taxes. If you start with nothing, work your ass off, save your money, risk it to start a business, hire people, make a lot of income the Feds want to confiscate as much as possible. Then they give it to others sitting on their asses not willing to lift a finger. Instead of trying to make everyone equal by taking from the rich why not spend some effort making the poor more wealthy... Quote Quote Oh. So for you it's only the rich. Or what you would consider rich. You like drawing arbitrary lines? Kinda hard to tax the poor. Remember, money is taxed, not people. Don't like taxes, don't move money.
  12. p.s...I wanted Bush to fail on his version of immigration reform, his version of no child left behind, the prescription drug benefit plan, and many other of his harmful policies.
  13. I want to see Obama fail with 1) his version of health care reform, 2) cap and tax, 3) union card check, 4) tax increases, and many other of his policies that harm the country. I love the country...so yes, I want Obama to fail in many of his policies. Quote Agreed. I am very surprised at the large number of people who rejoice at America's failures and mourn our successes - based purely on their desire to see America's president fail. It almost sounds like their hatred for the president is much stronger than their love for their country.
  14. Maybe you missed the whole part about the Feds putting $80billion plus (of taxpayer's money) into Chrysler and GM, firing the CEO of GM, determining which dealers to close, ignoring bondholders and giving large portions of the companies to the unions. This is not capitalism....read the news.
  15. Read and learn..... - Insurance premiums are not tax deductible. - An individual wanting to buy insurance has no HSA. - CA is broke. Check the news. - Tort reform works in states where it is tried. Doesn't matter what you think...the facts are in. - I have NO desire for the feds to determine coverage. Let the insurance companies offer a wide variety. - Read "intentional" cheaters; there are those caught committing fraud on purpose, not an office mistake. Jail is a deterrent to stop others, not about the cost for one crime. - If a person wants to drop their coverage, this used to be a free country. - This is not Russia; personally I like it that way. - Government run insurance is worse everywhere than the free market here. - Polls show 30% of Mexican citizens would like to live in the US. We don't need another magnet. - If you want a check, get a job.
  16. p.s....of course I want Obama to fail in this plan because its wrong for the country. I care about the country...I could care less about any of the politicians; GOP or Dems. I love the country...not our king.
  17. What is wrong with: - Tort reform - eliminating state mandates and allowing insurance to be bought accross state lines. - reasonable regulation to stop insurance companies from dropping customers who get sick. - expand medicaid for legal residents who meet certain criteria. - aggressive prosecution of intentional cheaters; jail time for fraud. - tax deductability of medical expenses and insurance. All of this can be done in 20 pages or so without all the hidden benefits for special interests. Can be done without another government takeover Glad we agree now. Quote Agreed. Most conservatives seem to be against even fixes, though. They are banding together to thwart any change at all. Solve the problem of hospitals losing billions? Sorry, too "socialist." Deal with the problem of the uninsured? That's like killing grandma! I'm all for fixing the system, and would welcome any plan to get there. But the primary goal of the GOP lately is to ensure that Obama fails, not that American health care succeeds. Often they seem to be doing what they can to destroy the system, so that the blame can be hung around his neck.
  18. Idiotic example. That would be the equivalent of shutting down medicare and medicaid until they could fix it. Not what I suggested...not even close. Work on your reading comprehension...or was it purposeful? The government is clearly in over their heads running these pograms. Most of the bills in congress for health care are close to 1000 pages (or more). The resulting regulations will be 10's of thousands of pages. If they had confidence in the proposals the effective year for the program would not be 2013...after the Presidential election. Although the taxes start 2010...the programs start later as they know it will have a negative impact on those that voted for it when people see the mess. The cost estimates include 10 years of taxes and 7 years of the health benefit. Even with the deck stacked like this...over $800 billion. Quote In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who cares? Until the government can figure out how to fix a broken and broke system they have no business expanding it. If they can't figure out how to stop fraud....they should spend their time on that instead of taking over more. You post an irrelevant statement and then can't answer a question on it so just have a nice rant instead. Maybe we should just shut down the military until every last ounce of fraud is eliminated in acquisitions. Same stupid logic that you use.
  19. Who cares? Until the government can figure out how to fix a broken and broke system they have no business expanding it. If they can't figure out how to stop fraud....they should spend their time on that instead of taking over more. In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Medicare/Medicaid fraud is $80 Billion PER YEAR at the low-end estimate and over $200 Billion PER YEAR at the high end. Most of this is by submitting fraudulant bills for people who don't get the treatment on the bills or don't even exist. . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And what fraction of this is due to illegals?
  20. Its not up to me to find a solution although I can think of some. I owe you nothing. Its INSANE for government to expand a program where there is massive fraud without fixing/improving it. BEFORE we expand government role in health care the government should prove they can prevent fraud and abuse. Some suggestions...greater penalties for those convcted, special task force of investigators and prosecutors, and improving technology. Until then...keep your mitts out of any expanded role. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Medicare/Medicaid fraud is $80 Billion PER YEAR at the low-end estimate and over $200 Billion PER YEAR at the high end. Most of this is by submitting fraudulant bills for people who don't get the treatment on the bills or don't even exist. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have pointed on some specific issues with your statement - could you please be constructive, and address them instead of just reposting what you've said before?
  21. Medicare/Medicaid fraud is $80 Billion PER YEAR at the low-end estimate and over $200 Billion PER YEAR at the high end. Most of this is by submitting fraudulant bills for people who don't get the treatment on the bills or don't even exist. - The current legislation has no provisions to reduce this fraud. - By not having to provide identification...the fraud will certainly grow/increase. You may agree with Bingaman but that just makes two people wrong instead of just him. Quote But Democratic Sen. Jeff Bingaman, who represents the border state of New Mexico, said that the type of fraud Grassley said he wants to prevent is highly uncommon. And I'd agree with what he said. If an illegal (a crime) goes so far as using someone else's credentials for a purpose of fraud (a crime), including citizenship status (also a crime) and SSN (another crime), to fraudulently obtain government services (yet another crime), they would have no problem to produce a fake ID as well. Now you'd ask what are the drawbacks if the law requires checking IDs? I see some already - for example, you would not be able to apply online or by mail, therefore increasing the overall costs. People also need to be trained to check the IDs - it's not as easy as some think, for example, to confirm the identity of Asian using an 8-year old picture in their passport, unless you grown up in a diverse community and could compare face features quickly. So, increasing cost without really increasing security.
  22. To recognize people for something that is not really an accomplishment does nothing for anyone. The person being "recognized" knows inside they did nothing special. For those that can't discern the difference...Paris Hilton anyone? It reduces both the person making up the fake congrats and the person receiving it. Down the road those that truly accomplish something are not treated special like they should be as everyone is being congratulated for everything and nothing. Let's celebrate true accomplishments so others can aspire to achieve. Quote Quote And what's up with graduating from Kindergarten? How frigging stupid is that? Feeling of accomplishment. Why not, we all need to feel as tho we are worthy and this develops young.
  23. Most of the bills in congress include the taxation portion to start 2010 and the health care coverage to begin 2013 (conveniently after the next presidential election). The cost/deficit calculations therefore include 10 years of new tax income and 7 years of expenses. These backloaded costs mean the expenses over the second 10 years will bankrupt the country...just as social security, medicare, and medicaid are bankrupt. The top 25% of wage earners pay 85% of all income taxes. The bottom 47% pay nothing or collect welfare in the form of earned income tax credit (which is not earned at all...just a transfer from those that earn/succeed to those that live off of us).
  24. Luckyboy...don't you ever get tired of the same old ignorant argurent you keep making. When Reagan was President, revenues to the government more than doubled. Expenditures increased even more than the revenue gains. Same thing happens over and over. No matter how much the revenue increases the spending increases more. You are an idiot and don't have a clue what you are speaking about. Quote Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AKA.... I can't so I'll say it's been done and run. Dude, there is no legislative correlation between ANY spending and ANY taxation. You might say the difference is the deficit/surplus which affects the debt that will never get paid off, but no correlation betwen welfare and your wallet: NONE. In fact, taking the last 4 presidents over 28 years, as they spent more they taxed less, so there is an inverse correlation between spending and taxing. Of course you will 1-line me and run; I'm used to it. ------------------------- Quote ------------------------------------------------------------ All other things remaining the same, providing better health care to people who can't pay for it would also increase the amount coming out of the taxpayer's pocket. Rather obvious isn't it? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Show me. Reagan blew military spending thru the roof and cut taxes, GWB did the same. GHWB and Clinton cut spending, esp military spending and raised taxes: go figure!!!! Your point has just been dumped. I don't expect you to own up to it, but it would be refreshing.
