I used to do alot of traveling between Calgary / Edmonton and Houston. I always loved my trips to Calgary (yes even in the winter) I would have to agree with AndyMan on this one. I'm not a skiier but Banff will steal your breath just standing looking out over the view. Plus the money conversion rate US to Canadian is close to 1.5 ($1us = $1.5can) You can normally find roundtrips from Houston to Calgary in the $450-500 range. Not sure where your starting location is, but it's got to be pretty close.

I haven't traveled in about 5 years though because we use video conferencing now Anyways while on my travels I've found Texas is one of the states most people oversees have the most respect for. You meantion Calf. and you get questions about wild fires, mud slides and earthquakes. You talk about Texas, they want to know about everything...
