Took him in because he had been drinking excessive amounts of water and urinating alot. He had lost alot of weight in a short amount of time eating normal. Didn't really make a big deal out of it at first. He was still his pretty active self for a 18-20lbs cat. This morning he just looked so "down" he has been feeling badly lately. Being the dumbass I am I had been ignoring his signs of ill health. So I brokedown this morning an took him in. He only weighed 12lbs they did a urine sample to check for sugar.. He had sugars in his urine. Not supposed to have any. Then the vet did a blood sugar check. He was at 500+ normal is in the low 100's. Vet gave some DM Cat food to control sugars, prescribed insuline and some antibiotics to deter any urinary infection he may have because of the excess sugars in his urine. I'm really lost, dunno what to think. Poor guy just isn't right ya know? He's been my buddy for over 7 years now. I saved him from the SPCA as a full grown cat. He such a laidback dude... So for now he's going back to the vet once a week and getting insuline shots twice a day. Hopefully we can get his blood sugar under control and control it with diet instead of the insuline shots. Does anyone have a cat with Feline Diabetes? My kitty was just diagnosed this morning with it. I'm totaly lost. Well I'm strapped for cash myself. I got into some serious debt just about the same time I was learning to skydive. I didn't buy something like a house, but it feels like it My only suggestion on this one is DO NOT SELL your gear. You can always go make a jump or two a month. Once you decide your going to resume jumping you've got everything you need. I made the mistake of selling my rig and now I'm starting to feel the pressure of bills lift a bit. So I'm looking to start jumping on a limited schedule, enough to stay current once I become current again. But I don't have a rig anymore or the money to buy one. Just think about it before you liquidate your skydiving gear. Gratz on the house though!!
