I live really close to these two places and would have to safely recomend them both. Mykado is also another decent Japanese grill with sushi. Taiko is just awesome fresh! Can't beat it and it's located pretty close to downtown, in the Galeria area. Westheimer and Fountain View are the major cross streets.
