Lets just say I don't aprove of some of Rays Business practices. You know stuff like signifigant increases (almost double) of the cost of gear rentalin the middle of a seasion. I know that this business costa a lot of money to run. Lets face it Ray makes the bulk of his money on tandems, which a lot of DZs do. However I have seen AFF jumpers and people who have yet to be able to afford gear get screwed by him royaly. As well as his constant practice of nickle and dimeing his regular fun jumpers. The only reasion Ray has the business base he has is because the only other skydiving club on LI is a tandem factory, however if you have a D liscence they may alow you to get on a load. Lets face it Log Island just sucks for people in this sport. As I was saying here the worst part about LI is that if we want to jump elsewhere ie The Ranch, Cross Keys, or one of the DZs in CT it will cost more than to drive there, than it would to jump at SDLI... I am just talking about tolls and gas here. I am lucky because when I get off of student status I can get free ferry rides to CT because of my job, and I will use it... all I need to find is someone who lives on the coast of CT who wants a gas rider. For people who own businesses that are related to extream sports those people should have more of a duty to the sport than to thier own wallets. A paintball field that I frequent every time the owner gets a little extra money he puts it right back into the field, and it shows. It keeps the players happy when they see this. If I see his business practices change I may change my opinion about him. However if you noticed I did say that the staff working there was chill, and so are the people who jump there. Also SDLI can't have the fun vibe that a lot of other DZs have just because no one is supposed to stay there overnight. Frananchi Spaas - 12 Guage. Now that's a shotgun mmm I want to get one, but they are pricey 1200. Although if you have a perp on the other side of a door you can shoot through it, and this shotgun is so heavy recoil is almost nonexistant. For the plinker I would also go with the Ruger 10-22. For target shooting 22 LR makes the most sence it is cheap ammo. They even make conversion kits for rifles that use .223 to accept .22 LR ammo. Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. Ok I know everyone has to have at least one of these stories... anyone want to share? I'll start. One day I was at my old job working on a 24 hour tour. My partner and I had just dropped off a patient in NYC, and dispatch told us to head back to Nassau County. I kind of felt the rumblings in the lower reagions of my belly accompanied by the I have to S cramps. I decided there were no "Safe" bathrooms where we were so I decided to wait. We got close to Nassau county and dispatch told us to head to North Shore Hospital at Manhassett. I though to myself, "Yes there is a safe bathroom there." We arrived at the hospital and by this time I was sweatting bullets feeling like my ass is about to explode. I went to a place where I thought there was a good bathroom to use, because it was an unmarked door and not many people knew about it, but apparently due to recent construction that bathroom was no more. We move on to the area where the elevator we had to use was luckly there was a bathroom there, "Yes sweet relief," I thought. I went into the stall, and my partner started to take a leak. I quickly pulled down my flightsuit, and proceded to let it rip. My partner fled the bathroom laughing. As I am unloading I look over at the TP dispencer, and I though "Oh, Shit!" As to my dismay I noticed there was no where near enough TP for this job. I used up what little TP there trying to get maximum efficicency out of it. Then I went into the next stall to rob it of what little TP it had as well... Still not enough. I had to contemplate the situation for a little bit, and came to only one conclusion. I took a bunch of paper towels, wet them under the sink and finished the job, by chucking the paper towels in the garbage. As soon as I was finished I vowed to bring my own roll of TP in with me much like whe going rock climbing. I definitally washed my hands after that one it was a messy ordeal. A log book can be more that just a log of all the jumps you have made. If you have someone signing your completion card they probibly wouldn't have any problem signing your log book. Also when you go to different DZs and you meet new people I know of several people who have phone numbers put into logs of people they have jumped with. Different aircraft you jump, as well as a lot of other things I haven't thought of. Part of the social aspect of jumping it logging after you jump. Hit all of them... the cool thing about FL is that most DZs there are within a few hours of eachother there are even a couple that are within a half an hour of each other.
