  1. Wow, it's LOTS of people's birthdays today!!! Lots of cool people were born in September. Happy birthday Kevin, hope it's a great one!!!
  2. I do believe the gnat population is down significantly in the winter, but the ant population is there year round. We'd have to get the expert answer from PsychoBob or Hushpuppy though. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  3. I probably would have picked it up on my own, but it was required reading in my HS. 9th grade. Good book, but not the best I've ever read. That would be Lord of the Rings. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  4. Happy Birthday Dennis!!! Hope you have a great one! Can't wait for the Hog Flop! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  5. Who the hell is John Wright??? Seriously, glad they published all the letters in their entirety. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  6. Happy happy birthday girl!!! Hope you got to see some polar bears last night! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  7. All of that sounds great Andy! I would be willing to pay something for most of that stuff, but the thing that would interest me the most is the Big-Ways. I'd be willing to organize small RW ways for lower time jumpers some weekends. Not really into the accuracy competition. How about some good old fashioned swoop & chugs on the last load?? Although not sure how safe that would be with a whole Otter load, I've only done it with smaller planes. How about a DZ invasion of Emerald Coast to jump the beach in the winter? Creepers would be nice. I'd also be interested in night jumps (but not into the woods like Brant did). Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  8. Isn't your last name Speed, 1st name Turtle??? Geez, how hard can it be to spell??? Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  9. Speaking of campers, I remembered another thing... BONFIRES! It would rock if everyone would hang out in a central location after a day of jumping instead of retiring to their campers to only be social with a few select people. 10. I agree with that too. How about a hoop dive state record attempt?? Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  11. Stalk them to find out. If they are ONLY posting in response to something you posted then they are stalking you. If they are posting in a bunch of different threads, and responding to different people too then they are lurking/posting a lot. 12. Does anyone know how long the vaccination for Meningococcus (sp? ) is good for? Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  13. If they get an Otter, I'm willing to bet the jumpers will follow and there would definitely be enough people to support it, at least on weekends. I've been at this DZ when they've put up 5 fun jumpers on a Friday afternoon in the Grand Caravan, and 2 were on staff. Maybe not the most economic business practice, and definitely not something I would expect all the time, but it keeps us fun jumpers very happy and coming back for more. 14. Ummm, 2 Otters at the Farm and $139 weekends for fun jumpers make a comeback.
  15. Wow, that event is happening WAAAAAYYYYY too close to my apartment for comfort. Less than 5 miles. Maybe I'll do you a favor and go take some pics for you, if I'm not too busy washing my hair or something. Oh, and the proper term is Atlantans, not Atlantaits. That sounds like some sort of disease. Thanks for the DD from Seattle, it made me
  16. Sweet! Can we do formation loads this winter??? Just imagine...40+ jumpers descending to the Farm at one time...wow, what a nice daydream in the middle of the work week...
  17. I tie my big rings from my 3 ring assembly together with my pull up cord after stowing my brakes and before starting to flake the canopy. I untie it right before putting the bag in the container. It work sreally well to keep the risers even while packing and stowing the lines, as long as you're using a packing weight. I RARELY have line twists and I don't have to go hunting for a pull-up cord in the middle of my pack job. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091

When I was growing up I was always LAST b/c of my last name, so I was jealous of the people who were 1st alphabetically. 20. I believe the airport is on county property and THAT is where the problem lies. It sucks, but they do have a right to regulate activites that occur on their property whether or not they have "sponsored" the event. To me the use of the words "county sponsored" was inaccurate. But we all know how the media can misrepresent the facts, just look at all those accounts of people surviving a skydive when "both parachutes failed to open". Not sticking up for the county officials, but I do believe they (at least someone) knew about the drinking before and were able to turn a blind eye. But after the incident they had to make some sort of statement. If we were to hold an event there in the future, maybe the WOULD turn a blind eye again. But their official stance seems pretty clear. I think they're just trying to cover their own asses. Spence, I don't know how you do it, putting these events together. It seems overwhelming. I will gladly come to any more Roaming DZ events you put on. But if you choose to take the less stressful path I completely understand. You have my (and I'm sure all the other Roaming DZers) support no matter what you decide to do. Edited to add: I didn't read anything in either article that accused the event of not being "family friendly". That may be an implication, but it was never directly stated. 23. Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone!!!! You all made me smile on my bday. I wasn't lurking, just been in stupid meetings all day. Mic - no pedicures today, my pedicurist is not in town. Simplyputsi - I actually do not like most regular cake. I do like carrot cake, but my favorite is CHEESEcake. I also like pie. Maybe I'll have some pie for dinner.
  24. I really like my snowpeak stove. I got it with the ignitor option, and it ROCKS. It screws on to any fuel cannister like the one shown (not propane). It's really tiny and really easy. Other essentials: a whistle around my neck, trail mix, NuSkin (for cuts & blisters), waterproof matches, rope, rain jacket, sleeping bag, sunscreen, a hat & sunglasses, a camera, waterproof topo maps & a compass, some type of electrolyte formula, jerky, cliff bars, good waterproof boots & 2 layers of socks (a liner and a pair of wool), polypro (NO cotton) clothes. I also put most everything in various sizes of ziplock bags to protect from leaks/rain. I always take a Nalgene bottle or two even though I have a Camelbak...was super glad I did last time when my camelback sprunk a leak and was pretty useless. Have fun!!!
