That's pretty funny, in my section of the FAA it's a 5:1 ratio male to female too. 25 men:5 women. 3 female engineers and 2 support staff. All the men are engineers or technicians. It was about that ratio in my engineering class in college too.

I think you make 2 excellent points, not out of turn at all. I hope it never comes to this, but I really wonder how all these DZO's who are accepting Skyride would react if/when Ben & Cary were to open their own DZ in say, southern California and start sending all the Skyride business to their DZ. I found the following on funjumper.com/skyride that speaks to a possible future of skyride... "One day, a couple of years from know, SkyRide opens its own DZs across the country - nearly simultaneously. At this instant, referrals to all of the real DZs (that we know today) are cut off from SkyRide. SkyRide saves up other people's money to buy a fleet to support the operations. It's much better to use OPM than your own, right?" We already know how they use people. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they opened their own DZ or took over an exisiting one out west and did the same thing they are doing in the south, screwing over all the other DZ's and DZO's who were their former "affiliates". I do think the best solution is up jumpers speaking to these DZO's face to face about our concerns. If you can't avoid jumping at these DZ's, but are still concerned about these issues, please please please TALK to your DZO about it! I thought all discussion of Skyride's dishonest business practices was supposed to be kept out of this thread, and put in the other multiple threads about Skyride. This is just a thread to try and get a list of DZ's. People do get screwed, including DZO's who do NOT take skyride certificates, especially when Skyride tells a potential customer "Yes, that DZ you mentioned IS closer to your city, but they kill an average of 6 people a year". People get screwed when they steal phone numbers. People get screwed when they are told they are getting a $129 tandem and tack on a non-refundable $70 depoit. People get screwed when they charge a "pilot chute fee". This is hurting our sport. Period. With all the misunderstanding and bad press that come to our sport through media coverage of accidents, you would think that the skydiving community itself shouldn't be contributing to it. I didn't see it at the theatre, but I did watch it with subtitles. I think I might have had to turn them on though. It was a great movie, but I can't imagine it was any good if you couldn't figure out half of what was being said.
