I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but a single armed security guard will not stop someone who has done their homework. First if the security is in uniform the possible killer will just sit near the school in the woods if he has to and learn the routes and timings of the security guard, then choose the best time to go in and take him out first before he goes on his killing spree. If the person is not in uniform, it gets a little more trickier, but if the person went to that school he already knows who is a teacher/janitor etc. I graduated in 1999, and I still go to the school for work related reasons, and basically nothing has changed. In the day of facebook and that job related site everyone puts all their info on you can just research and find out who is who. Also any possible security guard will probbaly be an off duty officer who around here at least drives their marked unit to paid details. It would take a highly trained team of specialists to really lock down a school, and that would include a completely fenced and monitored perimeter with one way in and out of the school.
