  1. So what needs to be done to get it to good in all cases?
  2. That all depends how it is done, doesn't it. Leaving it next to the alarm clock so the 5 year old in the house can shoot herself in the head is pretty nuts in my opinion. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/30079971/detail.html
  3. Since Steve Milloy has a known history of providing propaganda, I don't think it is very far fetched to assume that anything he posts, claims or provides on his website is to be considered as propaganda as well. And anyting produced by any official, semi-official or even remotely official chinese organization is full on propaganda, almost by definition.
  4. Not at all. Mnealtx in trying to declare victory for you made it the primary connection earlier in the thread. Doesn't take away that gun control and the threat of scarcity is good for gun business.
  5. I just have a hard time taking anything Steve Milloy claims as credible.
  6. True. Though in a multi party system like we have, there are more options to vote for if we don't like the leader of a specific party. Losing an election is a quick way to lose the leadership of the party as well.
  7. I generally like our (Canadian) system. Party members elect leaders at party conventions according to party constitutions.
  8. * Thanks for answering your own question
  9. Hard question to answer with a single price point. In the end it is all by perceived price point and value. I stopped using file sharing sites, with its inherent risk of viruses, wrong files, bad quality sound etc when ITunes started offering 99c songs. I still believe that to be on the high side, but I am willing to pay that for now, when I really want a song. I have now also signed up for a streaming music company, where I pay a monthly amount and I get to listen to whatever I want, but own nothing. So far, I am happy with what I am getting for the money paid. In the end, tecnology is going faster than the(outdated) models for many entertainment companies can deal with. There are newer models available, but maybe they are not as profitable as the previous models. Personally I think that is much more the case. They are trying to protect old models that are extremely profitable. The artists and companies behind the most pirated material are extremely wealthy. I simply do not buy the pirating or free electronic content = starving artist concept. Take a kid like Justin Bieber for example. He provided his "art" for free on the streets and on the internet. His target group is incredibly immersed in technology and would be prime candidates for acquiring free versions of his music. Yet, he seems to be doing alright. Pretty sure he isn't a starving artist.
  10. Really Steve Milloy? The guy who was a paid spokesperson for oil and tobacco now is a credible scientist?
  11. Shhh, he is on a roll.... And then he is also saying that resale prices are up because costs are up. Priceless stuff really.
  12. The treat of increased gun control has led to record sales. Would you call record sales bad for business?
  13. All thanks to gun control. Gun control is great for gun business.
  14. Real or not, this is some off the funniest stuff I have read in quite some time: http://textsfrombennett.tumblr.com/
  15. Nope, but then I also don't approve of shooting the intruders of your neighbours property in the back.
  16. Probably in line with the mental and cultural issues involved to justify shooting intruders of your neighbours property in the back? Protecting property. Daughters are worth something and worthless when seen as no longer pure. I can understand you disagreeing with the concept of daughters and wives as property. However, I don't understand why you would disgree with the concept of using lethal force to protect property.
  17. If I am in the gun business, I am loving gun control.
  18. While in principle that is true, I see this situation as a little different. DVD and CD prices are pretty standard. Now the industry is lobbying to protect those price points with high penalties. To put this in line with the entertainment industry. It would be equivalent of the gas companies setting a standard price for gas at $10 a gallon and lobbying for the death penalty for anybody who even thinks of or talks of stealing gas. When I look at the movie and music industry, it would appear that the artists and products with the highest piracy rates are also making the most amount of money. Most pirated movie in 2011 is reported to be Fast Five. Cost to make: $125 million. Box Office revenue $626 million. Further millions in secondary revenue. It is time for the studios and entertainment industry to adapt. If that results in Vin Diesel, Brad Pitt and Brittney Spears making a couple million less, I am ok with that.
  19. Obviously there is a price point at which time it is practically the same thing. When the pumps read $100 a gallon, for most people that will be identical to being out of oil. Now, you would be correct that at that point we would certainly not be out of oil, but it would be a very hollow point to make.
  20. Why do you care? You started this conversation saying it was wrong to increase revenues.
  21. Sure. Where was your outcry regarding the Saudi Arabian national curriculum when Bush kissed and held hands and when Obama bowed to him?
  22. Your assumption was way off base. My comment was that cutting spending and increasing revenue was most efficient. You then made an assumption on what tactics I would use to attain that goal. Based on your assumptions regarding the tactics, you disagreed with the goal. The first step would be (now) agreeing that the goal is correct. Then we can have a discussion about the tactics.
  23. Obviously. I do like how you followed me around other threads. Cute lol
